- Yes. If you are going to use it the full size that it is now, all you have to do is go to the fabric store and purchase rubber rug backing so it won't slip on the floor when stepped on. The rubber gripping is best sewn on either by machine or hand and try to stitch it throughout the back, not just along the edges or at the corners so that it won't rip when you launder it. Another way to use it is a rug is to purchase two sided carpet tape. The tape sticks to the floor and then you press the rug onto it holding it in place.

- This is always a tricky situation but the landlord should cover all expenses during the install and hash it out later. Was this carpet ruined from normal wear and tear do to years of rental ... or ... was it ruined by you, a pet, a guest, etc. If it is not your fault then I would get an attorney to sue the landlord. Normal wear and tear is a landlords legal responsibility for their property. If it was something you caused then you're lucky they are covering the carpet at all. - It CAN be done, yes. However, I don't think this is a DIY project. There are companies that can do this. I have no idea what's involved or what it will cost, though. From white to red is a big change ... and keep in mind that red, whether on hair or walls or fabric, is THE hardest color to achieve, the most likely to fade, and the least likely to turn out the way you intended! (How do you feel about pink carpet?) I honestly don't know how you'd find a company that would specialize in carpet-dyeing ... perhaps call a store in your area that sells and installs carpet, and ask who they recommend for color services.

- Almost regardless of where you live, whether renting or owning, you should keep in mind the ability to reverse this change. My recommendation is to mount the carpet to 1/4 plywood and then mount the plywood in sections to the walls with wood screws and dress washers. (a cosmetic washer that is more appealing to the eye.) Brass would be a nice touch. Use wall anchors (plastic will be fine) if installing over drywall. 1/4 plywood is affordable (underlayment will work) and this is quickly removable and by spackling the holes, completely reversable. The carpent can be stapled to the plywood and if not glued, even the plywood can someday be reused, if....you change your mind.

- 19 hands? You need to take a tape measure and measure in feet and inches from the centre of the horse's chest to the base of the tail. Go round his widest part. Different builds of horse need different lengths, depending on their build, shape etc and of course the cut of the rug influences the fit of the rug.

- Laundry Detergent shouldn't stain a carpet as it is a type of soap that can be used to remove stains from carpets, haha. If rinsing with water again and again isn't working, you might want to try a stain remover. Are you sure you have removed all the detergent from the carpet and the stain you are seeing isn't just the dried detergent left in the carpet?
