- Your four-wire stove has a terminal where you can connect the bare/green and white wires together, most have a jumper to connect the two terminals. You don't want to leave any wires unconnected. The other two wires (red black) are connected the same way between 3-wire and 4-wire units. You'll have to buy a 3-wire cable for your stove to plug it into the 3-wire receptacle. The new code requires 4-wire connections. The bare/green wire and the white neutral wire are run back to the circuit breaker panel separately at which point the are connected together on a buss bar.

- Yes. it's ok. Also. the wiring you have is probably 12 gague. Newer homes use 14 gague wiring for lighting to save some money.
- Q: I was looking at the wiring of my current thermostat and I want to know why it's wired the way it is...The yellow wire was wrapped around the white terminal and the yellow terminal. And the white wire was wrapped the around the Orange terminal. The red and green wires were each wrapped around their respective terminals. And the blue wire wasn't connected to anything. Why would the electrician have wrapped the yellow wire around 2 terminals? Is that normal? Also, I tried installing a new thermostat but the heating is not working. - You should take sketches of the thermostats and wires to your favorite plumbing heating store, and talk to a service person, if you feel competent enough to do the proper connections yourself. Also, include details of the thermostat wiring connections to your heating unit. Otherwise, get such a person to come over to your house to do the work.

- No, it's not 3/0. 3/0 and 8 gauge are both measures of the conductor size. a 3/0 wire has about 10 times the cross-section area that an 8 gauge wire has. So what you're looking at on CL isn't even in the neighborhood of what you need.
