Q:direct tv came to the house we just moved into and the power went out when he was hooking up a reciever and turns out all our outlets are messed up except two. one is completely dead. one was red on his tester thing and he said that is dangerous--forgot what he said about it and all the other are open ground i guess, and the fuse keeps blowing. is there any way to fix it without an electrician??? my husband knows some electrical stuff thanks
Not a big problem first you have to find the short then get the ground wire working start by removing ALL loads on that circuit and pull the outlet covers then start with the wire disconnected at the breaker box using an ohm meter follow it as it was wired separating everything if needed to pin point short then when you got infinite reading hook back the wire and find the broken ground (sounds like a ground was hooked to a hot maybe
Q:considering that he is specialised in power engineering or does he administers them.
Turbine engines (either steam of fuel-injected) are mechanical parts and not electrical parts. A electrical engineer will be working on the generator that is attached to this systems. They will also work on the transmission of that power (Transformers and all that good stuff!).
Q:Can I use 240 volt electrical equipments into 220 volt? Should I need a transformer?
no you shouldn't need a transformer. Funny I had a guy just the other day that bought a tanning bed and it stated it needed 240vac.he wanted me to hook up a outlet in his garage and I wasn't sure because of the specs. I called the manufacturer and they assured me that I could use 220vac from the house. Not sure why they state it this waybut I assume its the same as when they say 100v and 120v just semantics
Q:According to the Vancouver Sun interview with Gavin;Q: What is the future for waterfront cities like Vancouver?A: You are going to have to put up with rising sea levels; they are not going to go down. But there’s a huge difference between a foot or two over 100 years and a metre or two metres. There’s a lot of waterfront development going on but is it sea-level-rise smart? I don’t know that it is. So don’t put stuff in the basement, have all your electrical equipment on the second floor or on the roof.
That sounds a bit simplistic. There are houses in Europe that are periodically flooded with little problem, but they are older brick or stone-built structures that pre-date electricity. Vancouver homes with gypsum wallboard and carpet or hardwood floors aren t going to fare so well.
Q:for an electrical class.
Proper PPE Proper use of tools Proper work practices on energized gear Proper lockout/tagout How to verify equipment is deenergized Body's resistance to current in different situations amount of current required to kill someone Arc Flash safety
Q:does it or not losers??
This Site Might Help You. RE: does the brass pin conduct electricity? does it or not losers?
Q:I don't know a lot about electricity, but I know that on earth we ground our outlets, computers, etc. Do they have a means of grounding electricity in space? Are electrical systems more dangerous on spacecraft?
In electrical engineering, earthing or grounding means literally to make an electrical connection between the ground and a metal part. In practice this is usually done by connecting to the ground pin of an electrical socket, which is itself connected to ground. In permanent installations it can also be done by wiring to a piece of grounded metal, most often a water pipe. The main reason for doing this is safety. If a live wire touches a metal part such as the casing of a washing machine, it will become live or hot. If you were to touch it you would get an electric shock. By grounding the metal part, if a live wire touches it the current will flow through the metal part to the ground. This will usually cause a fuse to blow or a circuit breaker to trip, thereby isolating the supply and protecting the user. Despite what a previous answerer said, the ground is not part of the circuit of the electrical supply to your house. A separate conductor, the neutral, serves that purpose. Current only flows into the ground during a fault condition like the one I described above. In electronics, the term ground is often used to mean a part of the circuit which has zero volts on it, and may be used as a return path for electric currents in the circuit and/or a screen against electromagnetic interference. For instance, an electronic engineer may say that a part of the circuit is at 5 volts above ground.
Q:I was wondering. I hope someone can help.
Power surges are a major cause and then old faulty equipment.
Q:I want to know some information about electrical engineering
Electrical engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. The field first became an identifiable occupation in the late nineteenth century after commercialization of the electric telegraph and electrical power supply. It now covers a range of subtopics including power, electronics, control systems, signal processing and telecommunications. Power engineering, also called power systems engineering, is a sub-field of engineering that deals with the generation, transmission and distribution of electric power as well as the electrical devices connected to such systems including generators, motors and transformers
Q:I work on a plant where my workers have to trouble shoot low DC control voltage circuits besides high voltages ac running machines which are operated by inverters as well as from direct ac powerNeed a document or some tips to prevent electrical shocks and for electrician guidance
Work only in dry environments. No water on the floor. Plug AC powered test equipment into a GFCI protected circuit. Really no safety issues on DC voltages under 50V. Only handle electrical leads with one hand. Keep the other in your pocket. Rubber mats to stand on. Rubber gloves worn inside leather gloves Face shield and arc-flash rated clothing when working on anything over 50VAC.
