Q: I just moved into an apartment building that apparently has a chronic problem with power surges. The power tends to go on and off several times a week, for no apparent reason. I know I need to buy power surge protectors for all my equipment, but I don't know what type. I've seen surge protectors (multi-plugs) that say 875 joules, 1,045 joules, and so on, but I don't know how to translate that in terms of equipmentFor example, I have a TV, DVD Videocassette player, and high-quality music equiment all plugged into a multi-plug in the living room. Should I buy a multi-plug power surge protector for this area, and what energy requirement should that surge protector have if I'm going to plug all that equipment onto it? What type of a power surge should I buy for my computer? What about the fridge? Air conditioner? Remember, I'm probably going to need to put power surge protectors all over the place, so which would be best for the different types of equipment in a home? Thanks!!!
The adapter is barely a DC skill converter. the only difficulty you're risk-free against is a skill loss or dip and that may not through adapter, that's through battery being energetic each and every of the time. there is a few marginal risk-free practices on your laptop for surges and spikes yet back, that's by using your battery that could bite the bullet itself.
Q: e.g. medical equipment
Best thing to do is use a surge protector and if the equipment is costly enough use one voltage stabiliser/CVT/UPS in addition.

Bathroom - hairdryer, curling iron, straightener, electric toothbrush, Waterpik Bedroom - lamps, radio, nighlight, aquarium, computer, television Dining Room - Lighting Kitchen - Refrigerator, microwave, stove/oven, mixer, food processor, toaster Living Room - Computer, television, vacuum, DVD, VCR, Dish/Cable, Stereo Laundry - Washer, Dryer, Iron Hope that helps!
Q: After being around him I noticed and so did he that lights turn off as he passes them, and every time he would come in my bedroom my light bulbs would blow out. Sometimes when we kiss he shocks my lips a little and doesn't notice it.Okay don't think I'm weird but I was researching such unusual phenomena and I noticed people mentioning alien abductions and that people who were abducted and DON'T remember it (because nobody does) will have a weird relationship with electrical devices, including disrupting the connection by being around them.Anyone want to talk about such things? Interesting.
Wrong again, Eri. Physics degree(s)Should I say, wow here? Ok.wow. This proves a degree doesn't always mean something. I don't know if it has anything to do with 'aliens' but I DO know that it is a condition that is not common, does happen, and is extremely dangerous to our sensitive electronic equipment. As an RF engineer, we had people that could not enter our shelters, because of their 'power' to throw off sensitive equipment. In a lot of places like an ATT substation you will see a copper rod outside. It is meant for people to ground themselves before entering the shelter (and for static discharge). We have had employees that could not climb towers due to their electrical presence. Your bf just has that 'electric' personality. If aliens were in fact involved, it would be interesting to see how they did it.
Q: I am in need of some information where I can go to find information in medical literature regarding electrical shock. My precious (a young surgical RN) daughter-in-law experienced a serious electrical shock at work (in an operating room). To this point, I have not talked to her to get more details but she is still very ill from this. She has migraine headaches, abdominal cramps, tingling in her arm etc. I am very worried about her. Some type of equipment malfunctioned it destroyed the equipment severely shocked her. I am not certain of what tests she has had done all, as she is sleeping all the time from the exhaustion too ill to be up much. I just need medical information so I can give her to make sure she gets proper tests such is properly informed as to what all she needs checked out. She has never yet had children wonder if this will affect her eggs? Please help. She is too ill to research this my son is very busy away some.
If you say the baby is moving, and acting normally as he has been doing in the last few weeks, the chances of something being wrong is pretty slim. Also, like the others have said, please confront the restaurant employees or manager, shocking a normal person can be bad enough. But when you are pregnant at 31 weeks, its almost like planned abortion. Definitely confront them, as it could earn loads of compensation which could help with the baby.
Q: hiwhenever there are clouds, lightning or clouds sparks strikes my house and damage my electrical equipments like tv, fan, lights. my house has an entrance from south side and have windows, doors openings from this side, i also have openings in north direction to access to my back verandah but no sparks fall from this side. The house have 3' high iron bars fencing at front wall of 5' height as well as on rear wall of 5'-6 height. Do i need to put one 1'-6 high lightning rod made up of copper and aluminium and placed it on the roof top of my house to arrest these lightning sparks whenever they fall or some lightning arrester or you have any good solution of my problem. my house is 39' wide and 52' in length and 33' high(including ground floor, first floor, second floor) and have flat roof top and its in haryana region. please suggest me what to do? i will be really grateful to youthanksbye
You Have the answer in your question you basically have to use a lightning arrestor an top of your house. But make sure that the earthing of it must be separate from your house earthing and try to maintain a earth voltage around 1Vlts preferably below 1 Volt. For more information on lightning arrestors go to the link below.
Q: Hi!Is there an NEC section which addresses the following kitchen design? I'm working with an apartment complex and they've designed each unit's breaker box to be located directly over the stove top burners. Something just sounds real bad here - but, perhaps I worry about things melting when water is brought to a boil or the oven is at 450 F for an hour or so and the vent for the oven is directly through a back burner. [The door for the breaker box just clears the top of the stove top.]Thank you!!
2005 NEC section 110.26 states free space in front of electrical equipment must be at least 30 (762mm) wide. This clear space must continue from the floor to the height specified in section 110.26 (E). Doors or panels on the electrical equipment must be capable of opening at least a 90 - degree angle. Contact your local electrical inspector in the building department. They'll take care of you. Good Luck Tom A Sr. Construction Project Manager Albion, MI
Q: i am instrument electrical eng.student and i am about to take 2 of the 4 subject for electives, here the subject:1)process control2)automation and robotic3)measurement and instrumentation4)control system 3i am thinking to involve in maintainance, oil and gas or maybe aircraft maintainance.after grad.what is the subject is suitable and what is the subject advantage and disadvantage. i want get some advice before make the decision.tq
Well. it is very good major Oil and Gas companies need ur major since the instrumentation is controlling the whole units. Huge Essential System and very critical in any refinery such as: DCS : Digital Control Center. ESD: Emergency Shutdown. UPS: Uninterrupted Power Supply ( Electrical Equipment feeds instrument load) I think u have a bright future with this discipline if you have interests . And regarding these Subjects, i dont know much about control All the best
Q: If a 3 phase motor is driving a load say a gear box, compressor, or fan (Non Electrical piece of equipment) Does the load in this case gear box, compressor, or fan required a safety ground? The motor has its own safety ground
If there is no electrical connections to them then grounding is optional.
Q: I have a good friend that is EE and he says that it is a true aircraft electrician job, he states that integrated avionics is more of a pick n pull LRU job and anytime a wire harness, connector, or repair needs to be dealt with the EE guys come out. I am trying to decide on an AFSC, I want to do troubleshooting, flight line repairs, and by repairs I mean thought intensive repairsnot just pull and replace the box lol. I can't get a good description from the recruiter and obviously my friend is biased. Whats your input?? Thanks in advance!
Electrical works on generators, light bulbs and such, Avionics is an electronics technician. You would work on communications, navigation, control systems for armament and such. If you are in an operating squadron you will pull black boxes. Fixing them is at a different level. If you want excellent electronics training and a chance to repair the black boxes on a repair bench, go Navy or Marines. They repair equipment to a higher level.
