Q:I just arrived at my cousin's house. He makes his own lamps and things. He uses batteries and circuits and lightbulbs, basically, living in a battery-lit home. Being ridiculously green, he claims its more energy efficient than using the city grid. We got in an argument about global warming, and in short he claimed he was helping by using battery power rather than electrical power. I said that wasn't accurate because batteries, lightbulbs, etc use more power than the grid does because they have to be made using electrical equipment in an electric factory. Am I right? What uses more power?
This debate depends on a few things such as how are the batteries charged, the cost of building the ciruits that operate the devices, the cost of electricity and other factors which I cannot think of right now. Also, are the batteries rechargeable? I would assume so in this case. I suspect that it would take a indeterminate period of time (at this point) for there to be a payoff for a battery run home to be less expensive that a conventionally powered home. Part of a conventionally powered home possibly being cheaper in the beginning would be the mass production of devices. When your cousin says things are powered by batteries, is it a battery bank supplying a converter of DC to AC or are his devices running soley on DC supplies? The best way to resolve the answer is to calculate all the electrical costs that go into powering his home and then also calculate how much it would be to run a similar home on the grid. There might also be a few costs that are left out due to their choices of what to leave out of their home or how they accomplish or forego the luxury of in their home. At this point, there are probably not enough studies available to get a general consenus of which is cheaper. There is also another point to consider which is how often do they have to replace their batteries?
Q:I'd like to know what's the difference between the two in terms of what they study about, what projects/equipment they do and also if they have similarities. Thanks! :)
Electrical --- cover all topics that link to electricity. Computer engineering --- just computer hardware and a bit software. Electronic ---cover all topic that link to electronic. Communication engineering --- concentration in all devices and system which deal with communication.
Q:I have an item that is magnetic and it was accidentally heated. That took away a lot of the strength how can I restrengthen my magnet?
It needs to be rezapped. Either replace it with a new one of the same type, or return it to the maker for the fix. Converting a permanent magnet to an electro-magnet probably won't work very well, because magnetic material, oddly enough, does not conduct magnetism well. Electromagnets are made of soft iron or plain steel.
Q:i have System:Hifonics BXi 2608D 2600 Watts RMS Mono Car Amplifier4 ohms: 850 watts x 1 chan. 2 ohms: 1700 watts x 1 chan. 1 ohm: 2600 watts x 1 chan2 KICKER S12L7 12 Solo-Baric Dual 4 ohms750 RMS 1500MAX a pieceI have it on a 5 farad capacitor but i believe that capacitor is a waste cause my lights dim very badly. I realize that kinetik has all different battery sizes. Whats the best battery to get if i run the battery on my my system only.and also what size should i get if i want to run on my car and system i still havent made my mind of
Kinetik makes choosing a Kinetik Power Cell simple. We made our model numbers equal to the wattage needed for your vehicle. For peak performance and the maximum lifespan of all electrical equipment in your car, simply add up the total wattage needed including all amplifiers, lights, winches, video and all other electronics and make sure the model numbers add up the same amount. Allow from 800 to 1200 watts to run the vehicle depending on the electrical requirements if you are replacing the under hood battery also. For example; a car with a stock 90 amp alternator can use up to 1200 watts to run the factory equipment already in the vehicle (90 amps x 13.6 volts 1224 watts). Remember, there is a reason the factory put that size alternator in the vehicle in the first place and it was not so you could have extra power to run your aftermarket equipment! You must add power if you increase the demand. If you add a 1000 watt amp and a 200 watt 4 channel amplifier and allow 1200 watts to run the car then make sure the Kinetik model numbers add up to 2400. 1200+1000+2002400. Assuming you are replacing the starting battery with a Kinetik Power Cell, install the size that best fits the space (for example an 1800) and add the rest of the 2400 needed to the rear near the amplifier (a 600). In this car a KHC1800 and a KHC600 add up to 2400 watts total and the car should have plenty of power assuming everything else is working properly. If you decide to u want a separate battery to run your system i would recommend you buy a battery isolater connect it in between the two batteries by parallel wiring it.
Q:Hi everyone!I'm currently enrolled in an electrical engineering course and I like it a lot, I just don't like the computer aspect. I actually really hate computers. I'm more of the other spectrum like the hands-on mechanical side. However i don't purely want to do mechanical engineering cause i do like electronics. is there a meeting point? should i major in electrical and minor in mechanical? or major in mechanical and minor in electrical?to make things worse i've always had an interest in biomedical enigineering but the biomechanics track. I'm not enrolled in that because i heard that its hard to find jobs in that field since it's still developing.opinions? advice? anything is appreciated:)thanks!
Biomedical engineering to make artificial organ has a very bright future. This is the only field that we need to break through to extend human life and replacing body parts. Go for it if I were you.
Q:Also how do we know our brain has electrical pulses. How do u prove it
the electrical current travels through neurons, brain cell, that never reproduce, ever. you are born with them. as to how to prove it. well the pulses are really fast, literally faster than a single thought or movement. but ever notice how you could reach for something with your hand and then move forward with your feet. that is your brain saying oh, okay I am too far, better take a step so I can reach. but the first wave was just the hand and the second wave was the feet. but both major waves took hundreds of smaller waves to communicate to get all the muscles moving your heart beating to make you move.
Q:i dont understand this, every surge protector claims to protect phone lines from surges but why?
Because DLS and phone lines operate on voltages and currents and are susceptible to lags/spikes. GL
Q:Ever tried it on a LG Vu? Also Is that liquid spray safe?Which one is better invisbleshield or BodyGuardz?
Yes the liquid is completely harmless to nearly all electrical equipment. Invisible shield is the only one I have tried. I applied it to an iPod about a year ago and immediately regretted it as the scroll wheel became really hard to use. My advice is keep the product free of permanent protection and buy a slim-line case
Q:I am a freshman of the engineering program at the university of Wyoming. Right now I am going into electrical because I wanted to stay in Wyoming and I thought that it would be easier to get a job in the production and distribution of electricity through something like Rocky Mountain Power. I don't mind doing the math and physics for electrical, but I am thinking that I would enjoy becoming a mechanical engineer. At the moment I believe mechanical is much more hands on, designing parts and testing them. I don't know what these two would lead into though. Electrical makes more money, but is that worth it? Also how hard would it be to get a job in this region with mechanical?
both electrical and mechnical are good field.
Q:Been using mercury Monterrey (2004) for my mobile DJ for about 2 years and a am working on changing it because i don't think the van can handle the amount of equipment i have right now. Advice Needed please- Should i still go for Van or Truck - please explain why
Van. Better security and if you get caught in the rain, better protection of the electrical equipment.
