Q: I'm buying a cheap floating shelf for 20 so I can hang it on my bedroom wall (plasterboard). I'm buying it for a new stereo I'm getting , but I don't know how to hang the shelf up. I read somewhere that if you're putting a floating shelf on plasterboard you need to use toggle bolts. Can I just drill the holes in the wall , put wall plugs in , and then screw the shelf in to them. The stereo is a Samsung mini system with two seperate speakers. How can I put it up without a chance of it falling down ?
A shelf is a simple lever. If you have, say, a shelf 10 wide with a 2 vertical bracket, that's got a mechanical advantage of 5 - if you put a 10lb stereo on the edge of the shelf, there's 50lb of force trying to pull the top bolts out. So it depends on the shape of the shelf, the weight of the stereo, how far it is from the wall etc. Most likely it will be OK until you accidentally grab the shelf one day, in which case if you just used wall plugs they will tear out and everything will fall to the floor. If you can, try and get at least one screw into a stud and use toggles for the others.
Q: can you put a punch bag on plasterboard?
Obviously you must mean plasterboard on brick? I am not certain but i am guessing this will cause cracks around the wall bracket and after time make cracks down the wall. Best answer if you could please.
Q: Now is the decoration, the original plan is the top of the room is to brush latex paint, but the foreman said the above between the prefabricated cracks are more obvious, made latex paint is also prone to cracks, it is strongly recommended to do gypsum board ceiling. The original top of the treatment method is: the original latex paint eradication, coated interface agent, approved scratch wall lining, painting primer, scraping paste cream, coated latex paint. Now from the scriptures
If you want to do the ceiling, the original top do not need to do any treatment, sweep clean on the line.
Q: So, I accidently flooded my bath. The skirting boards around the sink and wood that boxes around the sink have become damp which has now dried out but the wood has cracked and I suppose that it's become warped. Now, I'm not sure how to deal with this as this wood is attached to the plasterboard wall. By removing this wood and replacing it I fear that I might damage the plasterboard wall.Any advice on how to tackle this? I kind of want some advice before I look into calling someone out
I had the same problems when renovating an old house. Your best option would be to use an impact adhesive such as 'No more nails'. At first, I had mixed results and found it best to support the skirting while the adhesive is drying. Nail a block to the floor close to the skirting and tap a wedge into the gap. Repeat roughly every six feet - works a treat.
Q: The top room in my house has got a ceiling in pretty bad shape. The house roof is ok, but over time the pressure has created a myriad of small cracks. Filling them up one by one is a huge job, so I have two choices: 1) apply a new plasterboard to the ceiling. 2) re-do the ceiling, take off the old one and put a new one.1) sounds an easier solution, but the builder wants to do 2) to avoid cracks reappearing. What would you recommend?
You should first investigate when and why these cracks appeared. If it's recent, you could end up with cracks in the new wallboard. If they've been there for years and have not gotten worse recently, you'll be o.k. to proceed--and I agree that new wallboard over the old (plaster? or wallboard?) could be the best solution. use drywall screws, not nails, in order to avoid nail pops. Remember to add an extension ring or reposition any ceiling light fixtures to meet the new surface depth. One reason to take it all out and start over is that you could then easily insulate the ceiling-- and ceiling insulation is one of the best returns on your investment for reducing heating & cooling costs.
Q: I have recently put up some plasterboard (or gyproc) in my kitchen and need to seal it (as it's behind a sink and a cooker). I have bought a tub of PVA, but there are no instructions on the back for what ratio to mix it to apply to the gyproc to waterproof it... Any ideas?
It really all depends on the level of waterproofing that you require. PVA is a good bonding improver but is not recommended as a waterproofer although it is often used as such. PVA will re-emulsify when it becomes damp, leading to possible delamination problems. SBR is a very similar looking product to PVA, but is more expensive and better for waterproofing applications as it will not re-emulsify once it is fully cured. Alternatively you can go for a full under tile tanking system such as Aquaproof. These systems are designed to be used behind tiles is showers, bathrooms, kitchens in apartment blocks. It may however be a bit over the top for a splash back!
Q: I've got a heavy bathroom cabinet with mirror to an internal plasterboard wall. I was thinking of using plastic plasterboard plugs, for the two screws that hold the whole cabinet.is this going to be strong enough?
1
Q: I really want to put a flat LCD tv onto my plasterboard wall and was wondering how much weight they can usually take. I did want to hang about a 32 inch which would be about 25kg...
Your studs should be at 16 centres (or metric equivalent) depending on the age of your house. You may be able to find studs by gently tapping along the wall which will sound hollow until you reach the stud.
Q: On the European diamond-shaped slit gypsum board ceiling is how to do, the specific process.
Simplify it First in accordance with the general ceiling hanging a flat top, in the flat on the top of a layer of gypsum board, double gypsum board on the seam.
Q: Gypsum board in the CAD what said
Labeling method is not a unified specification, the well-known domestic enterprises in Suzhou gold mantis company is to use the cross of the fill pattern (CROSS) to represent the actual process in the drawing, only the enlarged node was used.
