Q: What does insulated wire do?How does it differ from regular wire used on breadboards?
Insulated wire is .... insulated. That is, it has a layer of plastic or rubber around it so that there is no exposed metal (except at the ends) and thus minimizes the shock hazard, and also helps prevent accidental shorts between wires. Non insulated wire is bare, it has no insulation, it's just a thin copper bar. You can use either on breadboards, so I don't know what you mean by regular wire. .
Q: thats how my after market stereo is hooked up..i just got a system and was wondering if i join the remote wire to the accessory would it be ok? even if the accessory is already joined with the illumination
You need to first disconnect the accesory wire on the aftermarket radio from the illumination wire from the car harness if you are using hose connection to turn on the radio. You need to connect the accesory wire from the aftermarket radio to the accesory wire from the car radio harness, if you are using a wire harness then it would be the red wire and if the factory radio harness is cut then u'll need a test light to locate the accesory wire. On the aftermarket radio harness/plug locate the blue/white wire that's where u will need to connect the remote wire to, in order to turn your amp on and off. Don't connect the remote wire to the illumination wire from the car, or the radio harness.
Q: I purchased a wiring harness to install an aftermarket receiver in my 2000 Chevy Cavalier, also. I have lost the insert that came with the harness and as such I am at a loss as to how to wire my receiver to the harness.help

Q: I know I am suppose to run the RCA cables and power cables on opposite sides of the car, but which side do I put the speaker wires on, ps I have an amp so I'll be running the wires from my trunk
in my car i ran the speaker wires on the same side as the RCA's
Q: Not the wire from RadioShack, but the really thin stuff used in modded circuit boards, logic circuits, low power circuits, etc.
Thin Electrical Wire
Q: How do you attach light wires to boat trailer frame?
There are a couple of safe ways to attach the wires. First is to run the wires through the inside of the frame rails. this protect the wires from abrasion and from being cut, pinched, or severed easily. The next best is to get a bunch of Electricians Zip Tie mounts. These have a sticky foot so that they can be mounted anywhere. Then you install small ZIP ties into the slots and form a loop. Run the wires through the loops to where you need them to go. Once you have the wires placed and connected, snug up the wires and clip off the extra ZIP tie and work toward the front of the trailer doing the same as the last. Once you reach the tongue of the trailer, be sure to leave plenty of wire for the connector plug to the tow vehicle (usually about 4' beyond the coupler). Then your done.
Q: In a telephone splice case, do you have to strip the 2 wires you want to splice, and put them together, or does each wire that you want to connect attach to terminals in the case? I am talking about the black cases on a utility pole, that the residential phone wiring connects to.
A telephone employee splicer does not need to strip the wires, they use connectors that pierce the insulation of the wire and make a connection that way. Normally that work is done to join two cables together. The more of the wire that is stripped, there is an increased possibility of water shorting out the two wires, and that is what will cause noisy or defective lines. If you are connecting a line to a house, inside the casing are terminal connections and you would use a connector that covers the wire that goes through the case and a single wire that will bridge onto or splice onto that connection. Again you minimize the amount of wire that is bared to minimize the possibility of shorting of the wires. See the link below for connectors. You are not allowed to climb a utility pole, or attach anything to a utility pole. If you are going into any equipment and you cause damage, you may be responsible to pay for any problems that you cause.
Q: how to wire a receptacle with 6 wires?
Loosen the wire clamp screws located on the sides of the receptacle there are 2 kinds of clamp screws on a receptacle one set is silver and the other is brass colored.....Put the 2 Neutral (white) wires on the side where the Silver screw clamps are and tighten each one down....put the 2 Positive (black) wires on the side where the brass screw clamps are at and tighten each one down...That leaves you with 2 wires left.......You will need an extra 4 inch long piece of ground wire so use your spool and cut a 4 inch piece of green wire or bare copper wire, this is called a pig tail....you will need a green wire cap...take the 2 ground wires and the 4 inch pig tail and hold the ends together evenly and then screw on the green wire cap nice and tight....this leaves you with a single pig tail wire coming out the green wire cap, this wire is then connected to the small ground screw on the receptacle....then gently fold wires and place everything into the outlet box nice and neat....
Q: Does anyone know what color the amp sensor wire is on a 2005 EX?
some amp's have an auto power on when they receive a signal through the input speaker wires. that would give them a power and ground wire only.
Q: How do I find the remote wire on the back of my stock Ford Focus strereo? I have a line output converter to connect the rca cables to the deck, but I cannot tell wich wire is the remote wire. How can I track this wire down to connect it to the amp?
usually stock decks wont have a remote wire for an aftermarket amp but if you have a power antenna you can use the same wire that turns that on
