Q: I am trying to find an inexpensive vacuum for my apartment. One day I will buy a fancy expensive one but I need one now and that is not what I can afford. I have been looking at what vacuums people recommend and it sounds like the bagged vacuums work better. However, most of the ones in the stores are bagless so I had assumed that was better. Is that only true with high end machines? Or is everyone carrying bagless just because they look cooler on the shelves?: After making the mistake of buying 2 bagless vacs in the last 10 years, I have decided that my next vacuum will definitely be bagged. The first bagless lasted less than 4 years and I can't find filters anywhere except on-line for the 2nd vac and it would almost be cheaper to just buy a new vacuum than replace the filters.....I will be buying a new bagged vacuum soon.

Q: Sears just had a sale on vacuum cleaners and I got their progressive upright model 35923 with the quot;intelicleansystem. This is the one highly rated by Consumer Reports.I used it for a few days, and it seemed okay, except the inteliclean system would start acting weird after about 30 minutes of use. It would slip into the highest-power mode and get quot;stuckthere. Even on areas that it previously went over and sensed as clean. I could temporarlily fix it by switching out of carpet mode, then back in, but after a while it would get stuck again.Swapped it for another one, and the sales associate tells me to NOT USE the inteliclean system the first few times I vacuum. When I ask why, she says quot;I don't know what the reason is, we're just supposed to tell the customers thatquot;. Sounds pretty strange to me. There's nothing in the manual about it.Has anyone else gotten this advice from Sears regarding their inteliclean equipped vac? If so, what's the reason for it?: Call sears repair dept and talk to a rep....They are very nice.

Q: Saw some kid on tv the other day that collects vacuum cleaners. Couldn't believe it. I guess there is a club for vacuum collectors. I think this is the craziest thing I've ever heard. What about you?: As unique and crazy as that sounds, I've never herd of such an activity. If you ask me it sounds rather odd, and pointless. I personally don't like vacuums though, they tend to make a lot of noise pollution and I just can't stand that. But, I guess all people have different things they find to their likings, but this is one thing I'll never understand.

Q: I need a good quality vacuum that is not to expensive. I have a dog so I was thinking a pet hair cleaner. can anyone give me some suggestions?: Get the vacuum of your choice. Use sticky tape or lint roller to remove hair on other things. Get a 20 x 20 inch Box Fan. $12 anywhere. Get a 20 x 20-inch A/C filter. $1 anywhere. You mat wish too put a sent on the filter as well. Place a/c filter behind fan, turn on low. The will stop the dog hair from getting into other things, ceiling fan motor, refrigerator motor, computer vents and other things. You mat wish too put a sent on the filter as well. (vanilla extract)

If you go to the look at comments section, someone always posts the price 'cause woot doesn't tell once the item is history. For previous days, go to the community and look for the iterm. Q: Hello! I was wondering if Vacuum cleaners get rid of germs. I mean, when I think about it, doesn't it probably suck all the germs up? Perhaps it may not kill germs, but it at least gets rid of them on a particular surface(like the carpet.)And if they don't get rid of germs, than how can I get rid of germs on the carpet? I know that Steam Cleaning and shampooing the carpet are good measures, but I don't want to do that on like a weekly basis. I am looking for something that can get rid of germs at least once a week.: clorox came out with a product recently that is like their hard surface sanitizer but for fabrics. I like it and use it probably once a week on everything ( mattress, carpets, etc) It does however say that over time it may lead to fading of dark fabrics so beware.

Q: My two kids have asthma and doctor says we have to vacuum everyday using a vacuum cleaner that has hepa filters. We are a busy couple and currently have an old dyson that we use once a week at the most (and I doubt it has hepa filtration). My wife's friend recommended getting a robot vacuum cleaner for the job. Has anyone else used robot vacs and has good tips/suggestions? Do they do a good job cleaning? Any advice is appreciated! thanx: You okorder , most of the top iRobot Roomba's has HEPA filters.
