Q: They were invented to suck dirt and dust anyway, right ? Geez !! And why did mine have to break ????: I know exactly how that feels. Your vacuum cleaner dies and it's time for a new one. I think right now, your best bet is to buy a good one who sucks even more dirt and dust ! They make them so freaking expensive because of their design and colors ! LOL !!!

Q: How efficient are vacuum cleaners in preventing the dust and other dirt that they suck from escaping through the air outlet. I'm using a Khind branded wet and dry vaccum cleaner model VC 3661, priced about USD 60, manufactured in 2004. The type that is shaped like a bucket and has its air outlet facing upwards and a removable, washable cotton bag inside. I notice that it has only two layers (slices) of dark -colored Sponge like material when I remove the air outlet cover. Is that sufficient to prevent dust, dirt and most importantly bacteria from coming out form the cleaner itself. It could be releasing the bacteria and spreading it all over the place.: How much bacteria do you think is in your house??? This is NOT something you should be worrying about.... If you clean properly, and regularly, and then do extra when someone in the household is ill, you're fine.

Q: this is for a school project - i can't find the answer anywhere else. please help me: Home vacuum cleaners? Try different brands. Oreck, for instance. Just google their name. In fact, I think they still make their vacuum cleaners in the US. Most other brands probably manufacture in China although their corporate headquarters could be in the US. To find other names, just google something like vacuum cleaners buy You'll get a list of companies. Then google the companies' names to find their headquarters. Or go down to KMart etc. and look for the origin of manufacture on the machines. Look for the word China.

Q: i am trying to decide which toddler vacuum cleaner to get my daughter for christmas. i've been reading reviews and still can't decide. we have a dyson which we *love* but the childs dyson has the worst reviews of all, it seems. does anyone have the kids dyson, hoover, dirt devil... or any of the other ones? i really just want the one that actually works the best. we have 4 dogs and my 2 y/o actually will go around with our handheld and go straight for dog hair to 'clean up.' i'd like to get her up off her knees and be able to do the 'push and pull' with a real vacuum like mommy and daddy do since that's what she really wants... plus using the dustbuster has her hands closer to the brushes than i'd like.: none of them really work! Q: I essentially am looking for a carpet/floor upright vaccum cleaner. I was looking around in stores and found a lot of choice however. I notieced the following things about various brands.1. Bissell = Seems to be the cheapest and offers more features for it's price but looks kind of flimsy. Is this a good brand. Offers 1 yr warranty.2. Dirt devel = Cost a little more and looks better. Offers 2 yr warranty?3. Hoover = I know this is a well known brand but all I was able to see was the steamvacs. My mom had one and it's about 4 yrs old. Its very good still cleans up.Also I noticed Canaster Vacuum cleaners. What are the advantages of these? What is the purpose of having a canaster? I just don't want to get a habbit of purchasing a vacuum every 1 year because it breaks....: Do you have a pet with long hair? If yes, the Dyson Animal (purple) is the only bagless upright that does not clog up. It cleans up all the hair from my German Shepherd, cat dander, etc. I have had it 1 year and it is great. Q: Every vacuum I've had has broken. Two Bissells and Eureka. Cleanview Helix, The other Bissel is the powerforce compact, and the Eureka Optima. Anyways, the rollers stop rolling, and when I try to use them now, the smell of rubber is in the air. Is this from running over cat litter, and aquarium pebbles? Yeah, I tried replacing the belts, and cutting the hair off the roller, and they just don't work anymore. It's so frustrating. Been going through this for like two years now, and we went through two vacuum cleaners, this year!Should I see about changing the filters? Could that be it? So, so frustrating!!!!!!: You need to be more careful about what you are trying to vacuum. Vacuum cleaners are not meant to vacuum everything. Get a shop vacuum if you don't want to be careful. Shop vacuums can vacuum water!

Q: How can I fix a vacuum that will not turn off. I vacuumed up a piece of clothing and pulled it out of the bottom, ever since the only way to turn the vacuum off is via the plug. Any suggestions?: that sucks

Q: Currently I use a Bissell power force. It does work well but does not pick up all hair. I know I cant complain due to the fact is was under $50. Also it is very hard to push due to have to have it on a low setting to pick up the best. Thanks in advance.: The Shark Navigator is a small, compact vacuum with features and capabilities similar to that of its full sized and more expensive counterparts. It is by no means a replacement for a Dyson or a Miele, however, at only $140.00, it is a good compromise between more expensive, more powerful units, and cheap vacuums that don't work at all. In our tests, the Navigator did a very good job of picking up pet hair. Consumers also report having a good experience with the Navigator removing pet hair. Shark has also just released the Navigator Lift-Away, which combines an upright vacuum and a canister into one neatly packaged vacuum cleaner. We are currently reviewing the Lift-Away and will have it posted soon. One final note, we have found that bagless vacuums are far superior to bagged vacuums when it comes to pet odor control. We’ve tested Oreck bagged vacuums with special odor control features and very expensive Miele pet vacuums with special odor inhibiting filters, and none of them really work. The only vacuums we’ve found that don’t have pet odor problems are bagless vacuums you can empty regularly, with washable filters that you can wash as often as necessary to control odors.

Q: Which make of vacuum is better for it's money?: Rainbow, shmainbow. The question is for a vacuum cleaner, not a service. Kirby's reputation was based on their very solid machines. I am not sure that today they are any more solid than their competitors, and I think they are WAAAAAAY more expensive. Although they have updated their machines and are incorporating modern technology, I think that the edge in terms of performance, not to mention value, goes to competitors. I looked at the ratings for vacuum cleaners on one of the rating sites, and found that the Kirby came in 8th place after 4 Hoovers, 2 Kenmores, 1 Panasonic, and 1 Eureka, all in the $140 to $550 price range (as compared to the $1350 for a Kirby). You can also find good buys in the Riccar and Bissel lines, and if you are a slave to design, you can take home a Dyson for $400 to $500. So anyway, back to your question: Hoover by a mile.

Q: I need your help! I have had over 6 diffrent vacuums. The first one was great but heavy and old. It was a GE but now the old thing has broken down. So I have tried to get the light weight ones, the cordless ones, even ones with all these kits with them, but they are all worthless. Either they break or all too delecate or too big. The other car I had at the time was a hatch back. well, the clip on it had broken and I was traveling down the highway back home when the back flew open and my vacume took off, hit the ground........................ I was driving like 60 on that freeway and looking out my rear view window at my horror, the poor thing was sparking all over the place and other cars were dodging it in it's pass as it was litterly cruising backwards at high speed! I sincerely hope it didn't cause any accidents but I could have been cited for that. Nevertheless, I had the back door fixed and have a different car now.
