- Hi there, It all depends on what you are doing with the horse and where it is being kept. If you are going to show the horse then yes you will need to rug it. If you clip it it will need a rug. If it is very thin then again rugs have their place. Having said that mine are just for pleasure and I don't rug. It takes alot of hassle out of looking after them. I don't have to worry if it is too hot or cold, did or didn't I take the rug off and then the weather changed? We get everything from snow through to 40 deg. Most horses are smart enough to get out of the rain or heat by moving into shelter. My horses are out in a paddock and do just fine. I have to tell you that my Whaler X mare is not too fond of the snow. She look at it as a personal insult, having spent most of her life in the Northern Territory. Were as my daughters pony just turns into a mamoth look a like during the winter. The other up side of not rugging is that rugs rip and need repair, this can add up. I rugged my mare the first winter she was down here, thought I was doing the right thing. By the end of winter I had two rugs that where more patches than original rugs, they had been brand new. So I gave up trying to rug her. We are both more happy about it all now. Hope that helps.

- there are some carpets that don't off-gas as much smell, but here's a tip that interior designers do for commercial installations: As soon as the carpet is laid, close all the windows tight and turn the heat up really high 90 if you can, let the heat run for at least a few hours, overnight is best. This will burn up 90% of the new carpet smell, its also good for anytime you paint, vanish, or glue. Then turn the heat down and open a few windows and let some fresh air in. This is done in most large commercial buildings before people occupy it since industrial carpets, glue, and paint are a little more toxic. Sometimes they'll let it bake for 24 hours to get rid of any smells. Otherwise it may take a few weeks for the smell to go away

- Nothing works I have been trying to get the urine smell out of my carpet for months. Tried the black light trick and my whole carpet was glowing. It was rather disturbing. I bought urine be gone and it still stinks. If its not completely out they will just keep going in that same spot. Good luck.

- Q:Well we kind of had a little mis hap and we accidently got a burning piece of paper on the ground. The paper was burning and went onto the carpet and we cleaned all the ash up and now there is a dirty ashy looking stain on the carpet. How do you get rid of it? - clean the spot well and let it dry. Then go to the edges of the carpeting and snip some fibers. put glue on the spot and place those fibers. Small amounts at a time let dry for an hour then add more. Should camouflage it well
