- Q: I have my friends PC at my house to change a few components but apparently the PC doesn't work properly. I insert the power connectors ( 20 and 4 pin connectors ) into the motherboard, plug the power cable into the PSU and when i turn the power button on the PSU the computer will start but do nothing. It never worked like that before, i always used the power button from the computer to turn it off and on. And this happened just after i changed a PSU. Now the old Power Supply doesn't work either. Is there any way to stop the computer from turning itself on ?
- There are two possible problems 1. there is a short on the motherboard, specifically, the power on circuit. It is acting like the power button is held in. May have a faulty board. 2. The cmos has reset, and the default setting for activity on power failure is full on. Meaning, if power is lost to the computer (even if it is off), it will power on. A simple change in the bios would fix this In all likely hood, #2 is your problem

- Q: I have been doing research online and have found replacement power cables from Kimber, Nordost, PS Audio, Cardas, Monster and Audioquest. While Kimber did win an award in Audiophile magazine, the write up for PS Audio's SC statement cable appears to be very good as well. Nordost makes a great product too, but have read some complaints that it actually cheats the bass. So I am basically looking to see if anyone owns any of the replacement cables from these companies or what they could recommend as a good replacement power cord.

The only reasonable solution for such a debate. A power cord made no discernable difference in sound. Choose your power cord replacement on appearance (It’s nothing more than decoration.) - I'm assuming you mean the wire providing the 12-volt power to your radio? And you want to connect other unit's it? It all depends on how much current is drawn by the additional units. Do they have fuses? What sizes are they? Backup cameras usually draw very little current and have really thin wires. Shouldn't be a problem. What type of navigation device? Does it use a DVD-ROM or is it just on a chip, like a portable Tom Tom, Garvin, etc.? If neither of the units' fuses exceed 5 amps, I'd say you're safe (in most cars) running it from the radio's power wire. However, you didn't state the type of car. Late-model GM cars or Audi/Volkswagen have low-current radio wires that use computers. They are known as data bus or can bus systems. I'd avoid connecting to these.

- Ok, straight to the point, keep it plugged. Besides losing the power over the time you have it unplugged, most laptops are equipped with a power saving feature that reduces it's power consumption. This means that the PC will have to use less for processing which in turn reduces your PC's speed. To check this out, try booting your Laptop with plug on. When you see the desktop, look for the my computer icon on the desktop or on the start menu. Right-click on it and select properties. Look for some number preceding Ghz and remember it. now, unplug the power cord from the laptop and restart the PC. do the same thing when you see the desktop after the restart. notice that the number you had the last time decreased. (if it did not decrease, then it means your laptop still operates at the same speed when unplugged and will be fine when unplugged) besides the speed reduction when unplugged, the screen will be dimmer when unplugged. also, when the batteries are full, they are not charging when the plug is still on the laptop. the laptop will use AC power when it knows that the batteries are full and it's plugged in.

If you are planning to travel to Australia or live there, then you are golden. However, if you live in the United Stated, then it is useless without an additional adapter. - im sure it comes with a power harness(plug) you prob have to do some splicing just connect it t0 the same place where you get power for the cd player your probably going to get a wire harness for your cd player right? just match the wires from your cd to your ipod thingy before you solder or crimp your connections
