- well speaker wire inside the box i never would wire them together but 10 gauge sounds ok but just buy an amp wireing kit and it will give you proper wires just to be safe make sure all your wires can handel the power other wise it will burn the wires up yes you should pull the apart cause it wont sound right i usaly do is like the wires i buy have a white stripe on them i use that 1 as a ground wire so i know whic 1 is what

- You might have to go to a speaker shop and they have a little wire gadget there which tells them which wires are what. Don't know if you'll have to pay though or not. You might be able to buy one yourself.

- intreped said it well but i want to know how did you run the wire through the wall switch . hopefully you ran it direct with the switch breaking the hot wire . so you will have one black and one white wire . before you hook it up use a lamp to make sure you have the right wires . and you don't have to worry about polarity the fan has forward and reverse and the light buld dos not care.

- Resistance = rho * L/A where rho = resistivity of the material, so it's the same for both wires. You've doubled the length, and you've divided the area by a factor of 2^2 = 4. Calculate rho * (2L)/(0.25A) and compare that to rho * L/A.
- Q: Please help. I am trying to fit a new light into a house with old wiring.My new light just has a connection block with 1 blue wire and 1 brown wire. When I removed the old light there are 5 wires coming from the ceiling. 1 black and 1 red coming from one lead and 1 black and 1 red coming from the other. Any ideas how I wire this up. Many thanks.
- before to many Americans jump in - I have to say the colours you are quoting make me sure you are in the UK - so :- If there are only 4 wires (not 5 as you say at one point) then join the two reds together in a connector block and tape that up completely with insulating tape and make sure it is safe somewhere - many light fittings have an additional connection just for this purpose. Now connect the blue from the light to one black and the brown to the other black wire (it does not really matter which to which although purists may like you to find the true live for the brown) If however there are 5 wires you need to do a bit more investigation . EDIT - the two earth wires should be securely joined together to make sure that earth continuity is maintained throughout the rest of the house - then tape them up - preferably with green and yellow tape but black will do and tuck them back up into the ceiling as far away from the two reds as you can manage. ....

- In the uk red was live and black was neutral, is this part of multiple wall lights ? then it should be only one red is live, the other may go to another light fitting. The light fitting would possibly be red=live, blue=neutral and green is earth, I say possibly because it is a mix of old colours and new. There should be installation instructions with it. Start by connecting one red to the light fitting red and the black to the blue connect the earth, make the other red safe and switch on. If that doesn't work change the wall red to the other and try again. If everything is working and no other lights are not working then make good and leave as is, otherwise you may need to connect all reds together for the other light to work. You may be able to identify the live red if it is a single with grey insulation cable.
