Q: Does the television show Home Garden Television (HGTV) influence you to improve your home and garden?
I'm sorry. I don't have cable. I'm afraid I spend much of my spare time in my woodworking shop, or on line. I do watch the Woodwright Shop on PBS. Not too keen on New Yankee...too many gizmo tools.
Q: Im 18 years old and i just moved out on my own. Im looking for a magazine that has, decorating tips, easy recipes, health tips, fashion and beauty. I was thinking better homes and gardens. but i didn't want to subscribe and not like the mag. what do u think? will i like it or do u think there would be something better i would like. Please no smart remarks. Thanks
It's a great magazine although there aren't many beauty tips in it, just mostly about home and garden and they have wonderful recipes. It's worth the money to subscribe instead of buying off the stand. I know you must be excited about getting your own place, Good Luck!

Q: why do they come into the house and how do you get ride of them
Have you tried to ask this question in Home Garden? I'm sure that crowd would be far more useful than a forum dedicated to questions about pets...
Q: I am looking to fix a relatively cheap soil test kit, most likely one that you send out to a lab for results, which will tell me if my soil is safe to plant a vegetable garden in. I have found a bunch of different soil test kits, i.e. PH, moisture, etc. but none for contaminates. Thank you for all of your help in advance !
I can only speak from experience which is slightly old now that I'm retired.......The tests for contaminants is contaminate specific, that is you must specify what contaminant you are looking for and then the appropriate test is made.......at a very high cost......$150 a pop back then. We could not do a broad screen contaminate test.....we had to have an idea first. I'd suggest you have a typical soil test done by a Laboratory and include micro nutrients such as iron, etc. Contact your Cooperative Extension agent in your county to learn about the soil test process, how to properly gather the soil and how to package and of course, how much $ to include. The agent can also help decide if the soil might have been contaminated. A simple test for herbicides is to gather some soil into two pots. In one grow lawn grass or corn and in the other grow beans. Certain herbicides work on either a monocot or dicot type plant. For example if you can't grow the bean but can grow the corn you know the soil has residual herbicide for dicots.

Q: I am about to purchase a new manufactured home that is 2038 sq feet. It is a very open floor plan with vaulted ceilings. I live in Oklahoma and it can get hot here. There are just two of us. I will be buying the central air unit myself. Any suggestions for size and or manufacturer that would best fit my needs?
Carla I am assuming when you say you are purchasing the central air unit that you will not be installing it. Ask the contractor who is installing it what is the recommended size for 2038 sq ft home or I always call home depot or Lowes's and ask them what size (BTUs) I would need for my home. They always go by the square footage of the home. They can also recommend a few different brands. If the home has not ever had central air, you will probably have to purchase or have installed all of the duct work. If you are replacing a central air system, this duct work will already been in the home. FYI: They have portable air conditioning units that do not need to be installed and save you the work of getting all the duct work installed. Talk to Lowe's or Home Depot about this. Good luck1
Q: I was wondering if anybody has heard of Home and Garden Party and if anybody was interested in a shopping spree!??
No, I haven't heard of a Home and Garden Party, and who wouldn't want a shopping spree.
