Q: I have some old style plasterboard in my house and I was wondering if there is any good way to smooth it out so it matches my new drywall? I'd rather not have to take it down but if it comes to that i'll do it. I am going to be texturing the new drywall. Could I just spray the texture on the old stuff and maybe hide it enough to get by?thxJoe: Absolutely, have the whole room textured at one time and then put 2 coats of Kilz on it and paint it.

Q: I have just had a new Combi boiler fitted and have had the old back boiler and fire disconected. The fire place in which the backboiler and fire fitted in is 18 inches deep and 4 1/2 ft wide and is plasterboard on a wooden frame. There is a thermalite chanell that the flue pipe runs up. What we would like to do is rip the plasterboard section out to open up the room more, I am not sure about whether it is safe to remover the thermalite bricks or not???: Sir Start at the chimney pot and work your way down to find out what the thermalite blocks are actually doing, probably supporting the chimney stack. If so and you remove the thermalite blocks you have a problem, if you start at the top and remove the stack on down, you have a hole in the roof, a different problem. Perhaps you have other problems, but if you identify them before you get out the club hammer, they can be resolved. Remember problems are only solutions in disguise.

I don't think there's a way to remove it without damaging.

Q: there are a lot of mice in my area, my cats are forever catching and killing them. my neighbour has had them inside her house (she has no cats). last night both my cats were upstairs, staring at the wall. i put them out when i went to bed and then heard all this scratching in the wall behind my bed. its a plasterboard wall filled with insulation and doesnt lead anywhere else, unless they've chewed their way thru the ceiling or chipboard floor. why on earth wud mice come in when they cant get food??? and how the heck do i get them out without making holes in the wall?: It's probably just because they're looking for somewhere warm and safe. They're obviously not the SMARTEST animals, so they don't connect that cats live inside the house, only that there are no cats inside the walls. You should probably call a professional, I wouldn't try getting them out myself.
