Q: I am planning my wedding reception in an old stage/theater type venue. The only problem is that my colors are pink and gold, and the stage area (which is prominent) has the typical stage curtains and theyre red. Everything else in the venue is neutral except those curtains.I know i could probably work them in, change my colors, or just ignore them, but Id rather not. I had thought about draping fabric over them, but anything except organza gets pricey (Im on a tight budget) and organza is see through. Any ideas?: Can the stage curtains be pulled back so you can't see much of them? If so, it might be relatively cheap to buy some broadcloth to cover them with. It isn't fancy, but it is cheap and comes in every colour there is. One panel of something fancier hung in front of the broadcloth might dress it up a little.

Q: Im redoing my M.bedroom and bath. I just purchased a new chocolate comforter for my bed. I have oak flooring and a king mahogony 4 poster bed. Im needing some help on the color in which I should paint the walls and also what color curtains to use. The comforter is different textures velvet, satin, fur with each making a 12 inch stripe down the comforter. The satin has a little gold swirl in it. That is the only color besides the chocolate. I would not paint a chocolate accent wall with all the browns you already have and woods. But you could if that is what you want but I am afraid it will make the room look very dark. But one way of making the room work is doing it with the same color. Take paint samples home to look at them in the light the paint or fabric will be in.

You don't need to include the brown if it is the color of the furniture. Wood is a total neutral that only needs to match other woods in the room, and even then does not need to be an exact match. If you have a digital camera take a picture of each color, and print out a picture to take with you when you are shopping. Compare the printed picture to the wall or fabric color for accuracy before you go. This is the best way to match colors; your memory can play tricks on you, or become confused by the colors in the store. Another color can be in the curtain as long as you match the colors already in your room. If your bed spread or comforter is a print, look for solid or striped curtains. Don't try to mix prints if you are not experienced. This is usually only done successfully when prints were created to go together. Do not choose a solid beige for the curtains unless you want the window to fade into the background of the wall. Better to choose a solid brown or blue that matches a color already in the room. Don't allow color to be concentrated in one part of the room. If your bed is all in brown, and the only blue is in a chair, having brown curtains will make the chair look out of place, and having blue curtains will divide your room in two. Q: how to do this (curtain thing on wall)?: First of all. my job is making curtains and soft furnishings. From what I see here you coud use 3 way curtain tape on your curtains (Most curtains are like this, they have 3 pockets vertically where you have the choice to put you hooks) and DRAW the strings and arrange them as the pic and attach to a curtain rail as you would a curtain rail on your window. Alternatively you could have curtains with metal looking eyelet holes and hang them on a pole (not the same as picture but lookin cool just the same) Lovely idea btw

Q: The comforter has yellow details on it.: I think you have two options. You can match the shade of the walls and the curtains - both being some light shade of yellow. But, I would match the dark blue in the comforter. They will keep the light out when you want to sleep late.

Q: Can you hang a curtain rod with out making holes in the wall? If so what is it that you use? Thanks: I did it with tension rods inside the window, also I saw in home depot they have some type of bracket that attaches to the inside of the window but gives the impression of a regular rod

I hear that white curtains would make the walls look somewhat washed out, and red curtains will overpower the yellow walls due to their being too much red in the room. Any suggestions?: brown curtains might look nice and they'd also be room darkening! i'd also consider looking for patterned ones that incorporate two or more of the room colors! you should NOT do gold ones. maybe you wanna do red curtains and a brown valance? what color is the floor? maybe match that? cream or butter could be options also-hard to say since i am having trouble visualizing teh wall color exactly..... hope i was helpful!
