- I've never had a crittertail wheel, but I definitely know what you mean about the creaking and rattling while it hits the bars. There are two types of silent wheels I know about - freestanding and ones that fasten to the side of the cage. The one that goes to the side of the cage will have the same problem - there's not enough space between it and the bars. The one that is freestanding has fewer issues - provided it isn't knocked over. :) Hope I helped a bit! :)
- Q: My penguin 150 filter wheel isn‘t spinning? I have tried old, and new cartridges with no luck of the wheel spinning. However, when I push the cartriage up and down creating lots of water movements, the wheel spins. It also spins when I turn the wheel manually, but stops spInning when I finish spinning it. - the wheel only has to turn once a minute, so when you say it isn't spinning you may think it has to spin fast and it doesn't. It works best just barely moving. the only other thing that you can do is check to be sure the shaft isn't cruddy with mineral deposits or hair etc. do not clean the wheel in tap water, ever. sometimes the wheels get out of balance and a good rinsing in dirty tank water usually knocks off extra debris. again, it doesn't have to spin, one rotation a minute is fine and you should never have to replace the wheel unless it becomes damaged NOTE: the other user is correct, it may also need the impeller and the impeller well cleaned. Be careful and reassemble it properly

- You can't really prevent gerbils chewing. Gerbils chew everything they can. The only bit of advice I can give is not to get a wheel with open rungs. I sometimes see gerbils with tail injuries from open wheels. Get a solid plastic one.

- QR stands for Quick Release which means the hubs are secured in the dropouts with quick release skewers and not bolts. 10mm is the axle size that goes into the fork or rear dropouts. You can measure it with a ruler w/milimeters on it, just measure the width between the outer edges (where the tire bead would lay) If you are talking mm then a 120 mm rim would most likey not fit, you must take into consideration the area needed for the front fender and forks. The tire would rub on them. if your going smaller, there should be no prob.
