- Q: My radiator started leaking and now my carpet is pretty much ruined. I've heard nothing but good about the Rug Doctor machine, but I don't know anything about using or renting the machine. Does anyone know how much it'll cost? Are the attachments needed in order to work the machine? Does the cleaning solutions come with it or is it an additional charge? Also any additional info about the machine would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
- Okay I have used one before I owned my own carpet cleaner. I really liked it. The cleaning solutions are an extra charge. I don't remember getting any attachments. I think when I rented one it was like $60 plus the solutions.

- I wouldn't do it more often than once a year. I'd ask the carpet manufacturer their recommendation. You might be able to do that by email on their website.

- Q: 2 days ago our carpet started leaking. None of our pluming goes underneath it which amazes us. We have no money for plumbers or anyone to check on it. We do have a water heater next to it but its in ground. and we check on it every 2 days and there are no leaks leading to it.
- I really hate to tell you this but it sounds to me like a broken pipe under your floor. It can be broken fifteen-twenty feet away,but if the room that has the wet carpet is the lowest point of your house, that is where it will settle. That happened to us. One of those real old clay 4 inch pipes used when the house was built, broke in two. Another thing that can damage your pipes big time is liquid drain openers. Throughout the years we lived in this house, my husband continued to use those products against my warnings. The Drains opened up all right...Sixty feet of them! It dissolved the bottom half of the pipes completely away. That cost us seven thousand dollars and a months worth of jack hammering, repair guys, and headaches. You really need to check it before it runs into tons of money to repair. You could also call your water company to come out and check their meter. The meter tells if there is a water leak somewhere. Who knows, it could be the city's broken pipe and it is settling onto your carpet.

- you can find things about it on line im sure, penny rugs were cut from old felted wool scraps, now most people just use felt, they really are used more to decorate tables and such as modern felt isnt really strong, the reason they are called penny rugs is they were cut in various size circles and joined together, similar to a yoyo quilt though the penny rugs werent gathered, most of the shapes were outlined in blanket stitch and sometimes the pennies were stacked two or three deep using successivly smaller circles so you got a ringed color effect. I downloaded a small penny christmas tree design last winter and i think it might have been on the debbie mum site. just put penny rug patterns into a web search and you will surely find some. lots of the penny rug designs also were edged in tongue shaped pieces, these were often called pen wipers, they would make a penny rug for the top of a desk with the tongues all around it and the master of the house had a handy pen wiper in the tongues, when they got too messy they could be replaced. enjoy your hunt.
