- Q: My computer has ran fine for almost 6 to 7 months and just recently shutdown, and when I boot it back up, I get a red message and a beeping noise saying quot; The power cable is not connected to the video card. Please refer to the Getting Started guide for information on proper hardware instillationquot;. I thought it was a heat problem with the computer so I shut it down and left it for a while to cool down, but I still got that message.
- you have to open up your computer and plug in the power connector to the card, its easy.
- Q: what do ferrite beads do on power and audio/speaker cables do and is is it worth buying some and fitting them to reduce interference?or are they just as pointless as monster hdmi cables?thanks!.
- Couldn't find a quantitative discussion of how effective they are, but according to this wikipedia article they are needed for a device to obtain FCC class B certification.
- Q: Okay so I'm production manager for a play in Oxford and I need to have a giant cardboard box drop from the ceiling triggered by an actor with a remote control on stage.I've found a rather nice electromagnet which should do the job which is triggered by a 9V battery. The trigger is an IR unit I'm building which finishes with a relay. The question is can I use a sound XLR cable as the wires in my circuit between the battery with the IR unit and the electromagnet?i.e.Electromagnet -----XLR-----gt; battery -------XLR-----gt; IR unitStandard XLR's do have 3 cables in and surely I only need 2 to complete the circuit. The only reason I'm thinking about using XLRs is that I'm not sure of the distance between things yet and I have plenty of XLRs in many different lengths.Any ideas?
- I have used XLR cables for a lot of different purposes some are: Added a push button adapter to the end of a XLR so that a weather person could change weather graphics. Made RJ-11 telephone to XLR adapter for temporary telephone. Low power speaker cables. Even used them for mic cables. Belden 8412 is a thick rubber coated audio cable that is like a tank . . . it is hard to destroy you could short a 9 volt on the opposite end and not damage the cable. Use pins 23 for your project and if possible, connect pin 1 to an earth ground or common from your battery. Hope this helps. D.bumstead
- Q: I don't have the power cable no more..its an 8 pin power cable and it has on the back120v24v12v5vits a round adaptor and it looks like an old computer keyboard but it has 8 pins.thanksromeo
- Sounds like you need a standard S-Video Cable, available just about anywhere. We can get them locally at the 99cent only store, walmart, target, ect
- Q: I am trying to install a dc power outlet and it says i need to connect to the direct power cable. How do I find it?
- The direct power cable runs from the battery to an access point usually on the drivers side fender well. There is also sometimes a shielded stud on the firewall near the center of the truck. Failing to find either of these, a connection to the battery positive terminal will work just as well
- Q: I am currently travelling in Europe and my power cable crapped out. I need a website which offers next-day international shipping. I am currently in Prague and am going to Krakow next; so if you know of a store in either city which would save me the shipping costs, that works, too.

- Q: This morning my cable modem seems to be malfunctioning...it's a Motorola SURFboard and it has a column of lights on the front (labeled Power, Receive, Send, Online, Activity, and Standby accordingly) that are all supposed to be lit up (except Standby) when I'm online. Well some of the lights keep going on and off--namely the quot;receivequot;, quot;sendquot;, and quot;onlinelights. In addition, my internet is operating very slowly and/or not at all; sometimes I get the quot;page cannot be displayedmessage when I try to navigate to another page; sometimes it goes thru ok but loads at snail's pace. Does this mean there's a problem with my computer or modem, or is it just that the internet is down in my area?
- from your browser trying going to the address 192.168.100.1 this is commonly the address for the cable modem on a network. Going here, you may be able to determine if there are any uplink downlink problems. Do a web search of your modem and cable provider to see if your settings are what they should be. You can also reboot the modem from here.
- Q: hello guys, how does a power boost cable works?what is the difference between a usb cable and power boost cable.
- It is simply a 2nd USB for power alone, it does not use both USBs to transfer files, just one, the 2nd is just for additional power to improve the performance of the hard disk
- Q: I bought a TV and it requires 9 amps but it didn't include the cable. I have a 7 amp cable that fits, but I don't want to damage the TV. All the cables at stores around me don't fit well. Could I get away with just using this one for a couple days until the right one arrives in the mail? I can imagine that it wouldn't give me reliable power, but I don't really care about that, I just don't want to damage the power supply of the TV. Thanks in advance.
- You have a TV that draws 9 amps from a 117 v.a.c. power line? That's roughly a kilowatt. You could run three 55-inch LED sets for that, with power to spare. Or does your TV operate from a 12-volt d.c. source, like for a boat or RV? That would make more sense, 108 watts total. In that case, using the wrong power cable could be at least a theoretical hazard. I'd wait for the proper cable. If you'll update your post with the make and model of your TV and what you're powering it from, you might get a better answer. Your location would also help, at least which country due to different a.c. power systems. ----------------------- Followup, per your added details: now I get it--you have a power cord that's rated at 7 or 9 amps, not a TV that draws that much. That's entirely different. Your TV/DVD combo will use a maximum of about 150 watts, which means it will draw just a little over one amp. So any power cord you can find that fits properly and is rated at something like 3 amps or more will be fine.
