- Q: I keep seeing real estate I want to buy and they say they have a quot;garden tubquot;. what is this?
- It is a large, sometimes round tub..you usually have to either step up a couple of steps to get into it..or down a couploe of steps to get into it..depending on the design..if you have the room, they are very nice and comfortable..and are plenty big enough for two ..lol

- Q: have new house 1/4 acre lot that is EMPTY what are good websites for english/japanese gardens?
- I've okorder give excellent advice. Yards are fun projects. I believe the home owner is the best at knowing what they like , or dislike and everyone is different. Just have fun.
- Q: What do you grow?
- I have a room that I grandly call my plant room (it's my 2nd bedroom); I grow African violets, episcias, dwarf gardenias, miniature roses, orchids, jade plants, night-blooming cereus, aloe vera, and just about anything else that comes my way! I keep the room at a temperature of about 72F/22C, with a humidity of 65-70%. Most of my plants sit under ordinary fluorescent fixtures that I got at Home Depot, which I plug into power strips (the kind you use for computers) and which are in turn plugged into ordinary mechanical appliance timers. My small plants are kept on stands that I built from ordinary PVC pipe and pipe fittings, likewise purchased at Home Depot. Everything in there seems to be happy and I win a fair number of ribbons on my violets (I don't show my other plants) so I guess I'm doing *something* right!
- Q: I had someone repair my car at his home in Garden Grove, CA, he said he has applied for licensing and this is his quot;shopquot;. HE TOTALLY ripped me off with the repairs, they weren't done properly argued constantly w/ his mechanic. They were supposed to finish the job (I took my car home after 6 days of this bs with the generator light on just to get it out of there) he told me to order the parts to finish it, I did, Sat. I get a call later in the day on my cell that he and his mechanic are fighting that mechanic won't be doing it at all. Next day I get a call and he tells me that he doesn't owe me any thing and will only fix 1 item, he did not give me a written estimate before hand and wanted me to sign in 2 places an invoice that also stated he gave me an estimate, of course this is all after I paid him (just to get the car away from him). I refused now I know he is endangering a disabled person by doing a conversion on his car, this man mechanics are maniacs. HELP!
- UH NO, anyone who is doing work out of their house is called a shade tree mechanic, they just want your money, you can take this guy to court but first I would get in touch with the gov't office that handles business licenses, he lied to you and is taking advantage of anyone who drives up. You can call the TV station with this call for action type of scenario, especially if he has graduated to ripping off the disabled, they will eat that up.. Good luck
- Q: this make a good hobby?Aquaponic System Farm in a Box - Grand Cayman by Earth SolutionsHome Garden: 6
- Sounds interesting. Can't say I have.
- Q: im doing a research paper on florist's flowers vs. garden roses and i need more things that are different between the two
- I once had a job that involved, in part, developing new cut flowers for the florist trade. The specifications were that the plant needed to have flower stems that could be cut 3 feet long; that the flowers could be shipped without dying in the process; and that the flowers should last at least 3 weeks in a vase. Ideally flowering of the plant could be controlled so that flowers could be produced at any time of year, in a variety of climates, that the plant would be resistant to insects and diseases that could damage the flowers, and would be available in an assortment of colors. If you were developing flowers for home gardeners, your selection criteria would be somewhat different. You would also want insect and disease resistance, but your emphasis would be much more for variety of colors, and fragrances, compact growth, flowering in one season, and things like tolerance of different soil types, drought tolerance, etc.. Things like long stems, shipping tolerance, and long vase life would not be nearly as important for a home gardener, as they would be for a florist. On the other hand, most home gardeners would want a variety of flowers, not just dozens of red roses for valentines day. A rose by any other name smells as sweet (probably not an exact quote from Shakespeare), but the flowers a florist uses have a different purpose than flowers a home gardener uses. I hope this helps.
- Q: I planted some Romano beans and some corn just a week before last. What stunned me--by the end of the first week--was just how *fast* the corn grew, while only *one* of my Romano bean cups blossomed in full--while the other three have not.Why is that? All 4 were planted at the same time, all got the same amount of sunlight and such, but only *one* exploded outright. Is it genetics, a 'switch' that still needs to be turned on, or is it something else entirely?I'm sure that the rest will grow on their own--eventually--but this recent growth spurt just took me by surprise.
- What makes you think that corn and beans -- two totally different species of plant -- are supposed to grow at the same pace? That's sort of like looking at a 6-month-old baby (Roe vs. Wade survivor) and a 6-month-old puppy, and then saying, I can't figure out why the puppy is walking, but the baby isn't! .
- Q: I'm looking for the buckeye candy recipe from he Better Homes Gardens Christmas Cookie publication from 1998. They had a 50-State salute that year, and the buckeye was the recipe for Ohio. If anyone has this, please please post it for me.
- Try this: Makes: about 72 buckeyes Prep: 45 minutes Chill: 4 hours 30 minutes Ingredients 3/4 cup butter (no substitutes) 3-1/4 to 3-3/4 cups sifted powdered sugar 1 cup peanut butter 1 tablespoon milk 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 16 ounces semisweet chocolate 1 tablespoon shortening Directions 1. Melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Or, microwave in a microwave-safe bowl on 100-percent power (high) for 1 to 2 minutes. 2. Combine melted butter and 2 cups of the powdered sugar in a medium mixing bowl. Beat until smooth. Add peanut butter, beating until combined. Stir in milk and vanilla. Beat in enough of the remaining powdered sugar to make a firm, crumbly-looking mixture. 3. Roll mixture into 1-inch balls. Arrange on a tray; chill for 30 minutes. 4. Meanwhile, melt chocolate and shortening in a heavy saucepan over low heat. Cool slightly. Using a fork, dip three-fourths of each ball into chocolate mixture so the ball resembles a buckeye. (If the chocolate mixture hardens, remelt over low heat.) 5. Place balls, undipped portion up, on a tray lined with waxed paper. Chill until firm. Store in refrigerator. Makes about 72 buckeyes.
