- Q: I have old pergo floors in the dining and kitchen area and tile everywhere else in the house. How hard is it to remove both types of floors and how do I go about removing each? I want to put down real hardwoods and carpet in the bedrooms. Also, new tile in kitchen and bathrooms.
- If your new floor will go on top of the old floor, you'll need to trim the bottom of the doorjambs (figure A) so you can slide the new floor underneath. To cut the jambs, take a scrap piece of your underlayment and tile, place them on top of each other to show the correct height, and cut the doorjamb with a jamb saw. Remove the appliances and furniture from the room and then carefully remove the shoe mold with a hammer and pry-bar. If your molding is in good condition you can replace it after you have installed the new floor. Remove any transition strips from the area where you'll be installing the vinyl tiles. * If you are planning on reusing your old shoe mold it is a good idea to number each piece consecutively on the back so that when you get ready to replace it the process will go much quicker. To determine the square footage of the area you're tiling, multiply the length and width. If the room has an irregular shape, you may want to get the square footage of different sections of the room and then add those numbers together. Add 10 percent to your total to allow for mistakes and waste. When you've finished measuring, you can begin attaching your underlayment (figure B). Make sure to install it rough-side down so that the wood texture doesn't show through the new vinyl. Attach the underlayment with staples, stapling as indicated on the underlayment material. If you are using unmarked plywood, you should nail or staple at least every 5 to 6 inches in the middle of the plywood and every 3 inches along the edges.

- I artwork as merchandising supervisor for Harlequin Dance flooring, we've some sprung floor concepts which may well be put in at living house. One is Harlequin Liberty sprung floor panel equipment it somewhat is obtainable international. in case you reside interior the united kingdom or Europe there's a clean self deploy sprung floor in our variety called Harlequin energy. look into the setting up handbook on YouTube. the two concepts are designed to be crowned with a Harlequin vinyl exact floor. on the grounds which you checklist faucet dancing as considered one of your dance varieties, do no longer use a cushioned exact floor which includes Harlequin Studio as this might hose down the sound unacceptably, use a product like Harlequin Cascade or Harlequin Reversible.
- Q: ok i have theses 2 rooms that have laminate flooring in them and there is a water damaged spot almost in the doorway first rooms about 420sqft and the other rooms about 110sqft and right where the doorway is to the rooms is a spot that is water damaged and it's about 4ft from the starting wall can we cut up the flooring and replace it without having to redo both rooms is there a way to put it together backwards from starting wall to finish point?
- If it’s the self locking, floating floor type yes, i have done it it can be carefully disassembled and all the reusable pieces saved and then re-installed you must have enough new pieces of the exact same floor to replace the damaged ones and re install all the flooring you removed pull up the molding that hides the edges of the floor and find where the last row of flooring installed is and lift gently to unlock all the pieces
- Q: A)SubductionB)ConvectionC)RidgingD)Sea- Floor Spreading**Please and Thank you?
- D- sea-floor spreadin caused by Mid-Oceanic ridges also known as divergent plate boundary where two plates are spreading apart and in the middle a rift valley is formed marked as the boundary between the spreadind. at the edges of the rift valley magma rises up to the surface and cools forming new sea floor.
- Q: We have engineered 'click' laminate floating floor with a thick underlay which comes in panels. Our neighbors complain about the noise- they can hear each step we make. How can we make the flooring soundproof while maintaining the strength of the floor?
- Try looking for accoustic underlay. I dont know of any specific brand. What you want is low density underlay which would dampen the sound better. Sound travels best through higher density material so you want to give the sound waves less matter to travel through. Also if the laminate flooring is installed over timber construction flooring you should look at installing accoustic foam inbetween floor joists which would reduce the resonance. The laminate flooring is installed over high density particle board (sheet flooring) which is installed over the ceiling joists of the level below. The hollow area between ur floor and their ceiling acts like a resonance chambre of a guitar which just enhances the noise transfered through the wood. so you would want to install something to dampen the noise in that hollow part of the floor construction. Don't hesitate to contact me for further details if my answer is what you are looking for.
- Q: Is it okay to wax vinyl floors? Does it help extend th elife of the floors or does it hurt them?
- Usually flush or slightly below. Slight, like you suggest isn't a problem. The wax ring will compensate. Keep tiling.
- Q: Prove that the floor(2x)=floor(x) floor(x 1/2)i need the proof with cases.
- Using the notation [x] for the floor(x) and correcting the equation, you need to show [2x] = [x] + [x+1/2]. By the definition of the floor function, we always have [x] ≤ x < [x] + 1 so our two cases are made just by splitting this inequality into two: Case 1: [x] ≤ x < [x] + 1/2 Then we have 2[x] ≤ 2x < 2[x] + 1 [x] ≤ [x] + 1/2 ≤ x + 1/2 < [x] + 1. In other words, this shows that for this case, [2x] = 2[x] = [x] + [x] = [x] + [x + 1/2] Case 2: [x] + 1/2 ≤ x < [x] + 1 Then we have 2[x] + 1 ≤ 2x < 2[x] + 2 [x] + 1 ≤ x + 1/2 < [x] + 3/2 < [x] + 2. In other words, this shows for this case, [2x] = 2[x] + 1 = [x] + ([x] + 1) = [x] + [x + 1/2] Since in both cases, we can derive the same equation, the equation must be true: [2x] = [x] + [x + 1/2]

- Q: i want to replace the old carpet to laminate flooring. can anyone provide me with a step by step guide on how to do this? i have also purchased some underlayment for laminate flooring to go along with the flooring.
- Here is what I have noticed with my friends who have laminate or hardwood floors versus those of us that have carpeting. 1 - Wood floors are very unforgiving with crumbs and such on them, you have to constantly sweep them to keep them looking nice and crumb free. When they go unswept they will actually look worse than most carpetings. 2 - Carpets with pets will need to be vacuumed at least every other day. While carpeting is forgiving and doesn't show all the crumbs that might be on the floor, you do have to worry about spills and the whole allergens being trapped in it and all. 3 - With laminate flooring, if you drop something on it there is always the chance that the laminate will crack and the wood underneath will show through..while something like Bamboo, which is a renewable resource is the same color all the way through. So, for me it is a matter of wether you want to vacuum constantly or sweep constantly. I grew up in a household where we had carpeting and dogs inside. None of us had a problem with allergies or anything like that...but, my Mom does vacuum every other day and would also sweep the tile every other day as well. I think it is sixes as far as work and upkeep goes...wood is just more popluar right now.
