- Here's what you can do. Assuming that the Garmin has a MICRO USB port on the back, get a MICRO and MINI USB cable from Tiger electronics. The cable will have MICRO on one end, and MINI on the other. Next, get a Belkin USB adapter for a cigarette lighter. Next, go to a car stereo shop, and get a FEMALE end of a 12 volt power supply Next, get an add a circuit fusible tap (make sure you note if you have mini or regular blade fuses), get the right one. Using your owner's manual, find a fuse circuit that is switchable by ignition (the cigarette lighter one would work). Pull that fuse, and make sure you have the another one for the add a circuit. 12-18 is always best. Crimp the add a circuit tap to the female end of the 12 volt power supply. Find a clean ground, usually a screw on the fuseblock. Attach the ground wire using a loop spade tighten the screw down. Reinstall the add a circuit Turn ignition on, GPS should work Clean up the cable usually around the trim where the windshield meets the frame.
- Q: i want to use a 120 vac extention cord wire for the power cable to my amp, is this safe? extention cords have a heavier gage than the wire in radio shack and such and is much cheaper. i dont see why this would be a problem considering car batteries are only 12 volts vs. 120 volt extention cord raiting
- Listen to ohm!!! Do not try this in your car!!! The difference between home (AC) vs. a car (DC) is not just the voltage. A car will have much more current flowing through the wire then a home. This means that if you were to use a extension cord in a car you could melt it, like ohm said. Just go to a car audio shop and get the correct wire. An extension cord may save you a couple of bucks but if you are risking a fire and possibly hurting yourself I think it is a couple of extra bucks you can spend.

- Q: Hi. I just purchased a hp slimline S3420F used from OKorder. (dumb move, I know) Anyway it worked for a few days and now it won't turn on.
