A: First, we need to know clients’ requirements. Normally the following information should be clarified by the client: max lifting capacity, height (height under hook), tip load and jib length.
Second, we need to know what the foundation requirement from the client is. (Fixed/undercarriage/ undercarriage with traveling system), mast section type (panel/integrated), power supply source (voltage, ampere and frequency), the distance between the machine and power supply……
Third if there are special needs, we could suggest proposal according to clear data provided by the clients. End-user, as construction machinery buyer, knows the site situation well and should make decision, such as the machinery specification, type…….

A: Usually there is one-year quality warranty including main electronic parts (not including consumable parts). There are consumable spare parts together with whole machine and normally they are enough for one year.

- You have the right idea, the answer is d. EDIT: Well I actually read the rest of the question (sometimes I get an itchy trigger finger!), and the net force should be found first, the net force includes the weight and the tension in the crane's cable (so you need to find the tension): ∑F = ma = T - mg T = m(a + g) = 425kg(1.80m/s? + 9.80m/s?) = 4930N So the net force is the sum of the tension in the cable and the weight of the beam, or: F = T - mg = 4930N - (425kg)(9.80m/s?) = 735N Then, the work done by the crane is: W = FΔy = 735N(117m) = 8.95 x 10^4J Does not match any of your choices, so I am perplexed! Maybe someone will straighten me out. Apologies if I failed to help.

- I am sorry I do not know where are you from as different country might have different requirement on getting a Crane Operator licence. Anyway, I believe the basic is the same: You need to attend a theory class on crane operations which usually include topics like design theory of cranes, slinging and lifting, signalling. - I'm not 100% familiar with this but this should be pretty close to the answer. Simple/standard crane motors work by applying power first through a rotating steel shaft into a gearbox. The gearbox allows the gearing ratio to be changed (to trade rotation speed for torque or torque for rotation speed). Another steel shaft carries the power out of the gearbox, again through rotation, to a spindle (think big thimble) around which steel cable is wrapped.
