- Yes, that was such a nice surprise. He was a great villain in Batman Begins. For a split second, I was like Wait a minute - the last time I saw Dr. Crane, he was freaking out on that Toxin they released into The Narrows. . ., but then, I remembered - he and everyone else affected by that poison were given the antidote after it was produced by Wayne Enterprises. His role as the judge at the sort of Reign Of Terror style court system is perfect - Crane clearly enjoyed watching people suffer mentally, liked seeing them terrified. Sadistic little twerp. Tough call on favorite.. . while I think the first two thirds of The Dark Knight are probably the very best of the series. . . my personal fave is Batman Begins, too. I can remember the first time I saw it, and as they're showing the establishment shot of those mountains in Asia, Raz Al-Ghul's lair. . . I kept thinking, this is different than any other Batman stuff I've seen - this is cool! - They put a crane on the ground, and they build 5 stories, say. Then they put the crane on top of the 5th story, and build another 5 stories, then they put it on the 10th story and build 5 more, etc. Or it's hanging on the side of the building, moving upwards as the building rises.

- This one is definitely a myth, one that has been applied to both crane flies and the arachnids known as daddy longlegs (more properly known as Opilionids, or harvestmen). A simple fact of their biology can put this to bed: the adults of many species of crane fly don't even have mouth parts--the adult form is used soley for reproduction, with no time for food acquisition. Essentially, they mate and die. Production of a highly toxic venom is extremely energetically costly, and when they have no ability to inject it into anything (not even for self defense), it makes no sense for a life strategy. Common sense and simple observation will also tell you that this isn't true. There are stories all the time telling of people who have died from killer bees, or snake bites, or black widows, but when's the last time you saw a news bit on a crane fly fatality?
