Q: why does the power company use helicopters to service the repair lines instead of trucks with tall cranes?
High-tension lines operate at hundreds of thousands, or millions, of volts. At this potential, electricity can jump through several feet of air to reach a path to ground. This pretty much rules out using trucks, because it would be prohibitively expensive or impossible to build a crane out of entirely non-conductive materials. A helicopter is electrically isolated from the ground, so it's less difficult to drop a technician off and let him hang from the line itself while working. (It is still necessary for the technician to use a wand to bring the helicopter to the line's potential before starting work, because of the capacitance of the helicopter's body.) They could of course use a truck to service the lines if the power was disconnected, but the cost of shutting down service to an entire region of the country exceeds the operating cost of a helicopter.
Q: How would the environment, habitat, or ecosystem be affected if whooping cranes were extinct?
Are Whooping Cranes Extinct
Q: I loved Dr. Crane and his sexy glasses and eyes. Plus, I just love Cillian Murphy, haha. Is his character back in the Dark Knight, I heard he was...but I was wondering if anybody could confirm it?
Yes for a short time in the beggining of the movie for like 5 minutes.
Q: I've only read Hunger Games and watched the movie and noticed a large presence of Seneca Crane in the movie.However, I don't recall him being mentioned in the Hunger Games? Is he even mentioned in the Hunger Games? If so, please provide pages.I know he is definitely mentioned in Catching Fire but I haven't read that yet.
No they just wanted to show who he was and what he did. How he died and why
Q: I have to create a crane to support a dead load for my Engineering Technology class. It can be made out of only 1/8 inch balsa wood and wood glue, and is going to be graded by the ration of weight held to structure weight.Could anybody give me some suggestions as to how to go about designing this thing? I already know most of the basics, but if anybody could give me some specific tips, they would be greatly appreciated.Thanks!
Is this for a nuclear power station? If 2500 Te and 60m really are the specified loads and span then it is likely that it will be used very seldom. In theory you can design for any load to be lifted but maintenance on a crane system that is used once a year (10 years?) is a real problem. The main items to consider are: Availability of winches and bogies which then dictates running beam and rail sizes. For the spanning beam several alternative sizes needed to be designed and then costed. It will be not just weight but transport costs that determine the most efficient sizes The overall height of the crane will then determine the required roof height assuming that the crane is under cover. For comparison the Harland and Wolf cranes in Belfast called Samson and Goliath can lift 840 Tonnes each. Overall design needs to consider speed of travel, acceleration and deceleration rates and a host of other things.
Q: is was about making this game where this guy knows crane style

Q: I'm not afraid of snakes, mice, spiders, or any insect, for that matter. Except crane flies. I'm not even afraid of mosquitoes! However, I've been afraid of crane flies since I was six. I live in Louisiana and The crane flies came today, exactly on the same day they came last year. I don't care about them outside but I freak out when they're inside- especially in my bedroom, the bathroom, and the living room. What can I do to a) protect my house from them and b) not be afraid of them? I'm 14 by the way.
I'm glad i'm not the only one scared of crane flies! They're huge and when you crush them eggs or poop come out. ;A;
Q: I'm not sure how to set this problem up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you :)
We start using by defining mechanical Power: = P=Work/time What is the work here? We lift the box a given distance. Work=mgh Since we know the power of the crane, we can simply plug in the values and solve for t: t=mgh/P This is only true if the crane has a constant power, which seems to be the case LeSmartOne
Q: total motor kw-100kw,crane class-m6,the crane should be operated on ups as the conventional electric supply is off , back up time require-30 min.
About 4200 AH( TOTAL) is required with 12 V batteries.
Q: In the Bride comes to Yellow Sky, Stephen Crane uses symbolism to evoke in readers a sense of the “old west”. However, the knowledge of the “old west” that the average person holds in his or her mind is false and nothing more than a Hollywood created myth. By using the symbols inherent in Hollywood’s old western myth Crane manipulates the reader’s misconceptions only to leave them feeling stupid when he reveals a hole in that way of thinking with the irrational ending.This is actually a thesis i'm working on for an analytical essay on the piece.I need to know if anyone has ever read the story and gotten the same feeling Crane was having fun at the reader's expense or perhaps poking fun at the old western I have very good points from the text to support my thesis but i cannot find anything online that touches on the possability of this being a parody. Anyone else think Crane's having fun or is a bit condescending in this piece?
I have to say no. Your question erred in a significant way. Hollywood didn't create this false image of the West. The false image was created a long time before by people living in the age of the incidents. It didn't take publishers long to notice that people living back East enjoyed these gritty depictions of the West. Dime novels were a big seller in the 18th and 19th centuries. Look at Stephen Crane. He died in 1900. Hollywood was non-existent as the facet of American life that it holds now. Crane would have been writing this story with the idea that he was depicting a real slice of the wild West that was becoming more civilized.
