- this is not my area of study but i will give you something to consider. if you are looking for a large capacity crane for use on permafrost, you wont find one. the pressure placed on the permafrost by large weights will cause it to melt. anything that is heavy, like a house, will sink in the tundra just like it will in a swamp. for houses they excavate the foundation a build a giant wooden raft that the hose floats on. in ST Petersburg, Russians preferred a mix of reeds and slave laborers corpses's to build the raft. as long as the ground is not frozen there is somebody how makes what you want. if the ground is frozen, you will only find small machinery. best of luck ps dont look to hard. lots of diesel engines work great at sub-subfreezing temps.

We are not too particular on the color of the cranes, though we like blue or gold. Does anyone have any feedback on the sort of paper I can get for this project? - I see origami paper quite often in bookstores, art supply stores, and at the local Japanese grocery stores (I'm in the Portland area).... it's also commonly available online, sometimes in packs of solid colors. Try folding some cranes in different sizes... very small ones can be difficult to fold (I can't manage less than 2 square)
- Q:The really really tall ones you see next to skyscrapers. How do they assemble them? I thought that maybe they use another crane, but then how did they assemble that crane? Some of them are really, really tall. Try to remember what one looks like. They have long hollow necks with a top section where the driver sits that stretches long horizontally.

- You need to get licensed or certified to operate the crane. make sure you are qualified before you start complaining about not getting more challenging work. The world needs ditch diggers to so get back to work.

- Q:I was wondering if this is possible. The wall we have designed is very close to an existing retaining wall. In order to properly form and waterproof the wall we would have to demo that existing retaining wall. My idea was to build it off site, waterproof it, and then crane it into its location. Is this possible? any similar methods? thanks
- If you use precast concrete sections it can be done. You can even have a decorative side if that is required. You might need to have some form of interlocking connections to tie the whole thing together. Depending on its height there might also be a need for anchors to keep it from trying to tip. Without more very detailed information it is difficult to really answer this question. As an example: depending on the type of soil and the height of the wall it is possible to remove the existing wall and install a new one in a day if you use something like a keystone system.
