- Q:What do lattice boom and hydraulic boom in cranes mean?
- LATTICE BOOM: See first link. This is where the boom (the portion used to support the load) is made like a lattice ... i.e. interconnected trusses and girders. The cables for lifting the load are run from the base of the boom to the load over pulleys/gears located at the boom's tip. The boom itself is NOT adjustable in length or in angle. HYDRAULIC BOOM: See second link. This crane uses hydraulics to adjust either the length of the boom, or the angle at which the boom joints intersect. It looks more like a single beam construction, although its probably closer to a tube type design (hydraulics may be inside or outside the arm). The load is raised/lowered by cables operating at the end of the boom ... not necessarily tied back to the bottom of the boom.

- This is the old saying. The international standard is now used. For example, the QTZ100T.M lifting torque is 980KN.M (kn. Meters).The QTZ100 is similar to the lifting torque of the TC6013. But not the same model.

- Start with a square piece of paper. You got that? Fold the paper corner to corner to get a large right triangle, and fold it corner to corner again to get a smaller triangle. You got that ,or did I lose you. Open the paper, and you will see a big X. Never mind the X. We will come back to it. Now fold the paper side to side to get a rectangle, and fold the two SHORT SIDES to the X fold. Open and do the other two by repeating what you just did. Open the paper FLAT. You can now see a 4 pointed star. Along the four sides of the square, push down on the perimeter of the star to make the star come up. Fold down until you have a flat KITE. Make sure you have 2 flaps on each side. What you are looking at now is one wing, and the other one is in the back. The neck and head are inside the wings. Pull them out half way to expose them. Fold one side at the tip to make a head. If you did everything correctly, and hold under the neck with one hand and pull the tail with the other hand, the crane should flap its wing. Write back if you need more help.

Similarly, the path to truth in Crane's The Wayfarer is overgrown with painful daggers which, if you step onto the path, will cut up your feet; if you take the path and find truth, you'll be hurt and dumbstruck and terrified by this path, so that the Truth (with a capital 'T') itself convinces the poem's 'hero' to turn to a different path, to choose something other than truth. And he doesn't even need to walk the path at all, only get a bit of a glimpse into truth, in order to be terrified by it.
