- Q: If you can tile on top do i need to prepare the old tile surface?
- of course you can. You need to prepare properly and use the correct adhesives. For further information visit the tilerworld forum
- Q: Gold tiles and gold medals in Asia which is good
- 7, if it is to buy tiles (wall), then look at the brick body side of the body and glaze between the glaze to see the thickness, too thin can not be, because a long time there will be broken or will There is seepage. Look at the surface of the tiles glaze is bright, glaze light good quality. The above methods 1,2,3 points are common to all bricks, and 4,5,6,7 is a method for different products. The last to add a few pieces of brick weight is a method, the more dense the higher the relative, but this is not useful for all the bricks, for example, now like God God Connaught and several other big brands have a called "light brick "The product, the weight is very light but the quality is also good. So the weight of the contrast can only be used on traditional tile products. If the conditions permit, then the cup of water poured on the back of the brick body to see the water absorption of the brick speed, the faster the harder the brick, the more difficult to prove that the better brick, which is commonly referred to as the ceramic tile water absorption, the general international standards In the following 0.4%, that is, pour 100 grams of water brick will only absorb 0.4 grams, to achieve this standard brick is basically a good brick.
- Q: MyMy bathroom. which is about 75 square feet has a carpet and I want to change it to tile. The only utility is a toilet. How do I handle the toilet? If I use ceramic tile, does the toilet sit on the ceramic tile and does that cause a problem with breaking the tile? What do you recommend that is practical, easy to install, and still functional?
- Yes you ll have to pull the stool up and depending on what you sub flooring is now will depend how you treat the stool and wax ring and flange later. There isn t a stock answer with the info you gave. Some times the flange is raised enough to accommodate raising the floor with tile and a 1/2 cement board( if needed). If the flooring is on a slab them the tile will go right up to the flange and stool set atop with a normal or extra thick ring. In 20+ years I ve never had a tile crack under a stool. As long as there is the correct amount of thin set under the tile and any subflooring you add is properly put down,it ll be fine. Stools don t have to be tight tight bolted down just firmly snugged up . Almost ( almost ) any tile will work in a bathroom situation , but get a slip resistant type, one with at least a class III rating is my recommendation Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. - Q: My landlord recently had new bath/shower faucets installed, but didn‘t have matching tiles put in place of the ones that had to be removed in a small section. Do I have a legitimate case against my landlord? It‘s such an eyesore. Everytime I shower, I see the unmatching tiles and get so angry. Aren‘t I deserving of matching tiles?
- I guarantee you'd be laughed out of court over this issue. Not only that, but you'll completely lose the respect of the landlord who's had the misfortune of getting stuck with someone like you as a tenant.
- Q: my dad is does tile. He has quite a bit of leftover tile from various jobs. Is it possible that we can recycle tile?
- yes, there are several things you can do with them. - use the scraps to cover an old table and now you have one that looks brand new - advertise them on Craig's list - you can use them to cover jars to make candle holders - i have seen some people use scraps of tile to make jewelry - put felt pads on the back of them and make coasters or a trivet - take broken pieces and attach them around the edge of a mirror these are just a few! I'll bet if you tried to get rid of them you would possibly find someone who might even pay you for the leftovers!
- Q: I live in Tennessee near nashville, I want to recarpet and ceramic tile in my house but want an estimated cost, of how much so i dont get jipped It‘s a 2,000 sq ft house and.. its two bath one kitchen for tile and three bedroom and living room and hallway for carpet.. anyone know where i can get help i dont want to overpay at all! also empire company has anyone ever done business with them? know if they are good at all///?
- Check out Home Depot or Lowes.............personal opinion - don't use carpet at all - it holds in so much dirt, dust, mites, smells, etc. Terrible for anyone with allergies. Just my opinion. The only place that has carpet in our house is the stairs and hallway...........put laminate wood flooring in the bedrooms and tile everywhere else. You can buy throw rugs that can be cleaned easier than carpeting. Best of luck!! ?
- Q: Do I start in the middle like normal tile? What happens if I don‘t start in the middle due to the uneven wall?
- First, are you sure you want peel and stick tile? Unless they are being installed in a room with little traffic, I have always found they don't last as long as glued down tile. If this is what you want though, here it goes. You don't have to start in the middle of the room. A suggestion is to start in front of your cabinets if doing a kitchen. rooms are not always square, this will assure good straight lines were you would notice the most. If you don't start with the cabinets and use another wall, it may be straight with the wall but look crooked with the cabinets. Next peel the backing, and place tile tightly next to each other. You will need a utility knife to cut the tile next to the wall, and around other objects. for tough cuts, heating the back of the tile with a hair dryer will make it easier to cut. Then I highly recommend renting a floor roller, 80# should do it. The floor roller will assure all tiles are pressed firmly to the floor. roll the roller in one direction across the floor, and then again in the opposite direction.;..
- Q: What is better tiles or carpet in a living room considering I have 3 kids ( 4 , 3 and 2 ) ? what about the kitchen?
- tiles or bamboo flooring - carpet is dreadful with small children and pets (if you have them) they can crack if they are not installed right tho carpet is hard to clean- hard to keep the smells out- frequently adds to the allergen problems Especially with small children= if you feel you must have a rug make it small throw rugs that can be easily cleaned. you will sooooo glad you did, and no i DONT think they keep a room warmer. did you know that a new carpet offgasses formaldehyde!! all the more reason to avoid it as for tile - depending on where you are and how good your installers are will determine if its right for you. avoid the marble/granite type floors (unless you LIKE ER visits) its way to slick - personally i prefer the mexican type large floor tiles- very easy maintanence and here in this hot climate they are very cooling. they also crack if not installed correctly now if you are not sure of tile look into the newer laminate floors - especially bamboo. its beautiful, easy care, and bamboo is a Very GREEN product (rather than many rare and scarce hardwoods) even if its not the least expensive to install, in the long run i think its the easiest and least expensive to care for and live with. rj
- Q: I am tiling my kitchen and My house was a prefab. and OLD. The plywood used was 1/2 (I measured it). what thickness of backboard/cement board should I use for under the tile and on top of the plywood? I was thinking 1/2 backerboard/cement board so there is 1 of subfloor under the tile. Do you think this is enough? Also, I am tiling around my cabinets, what do I do about the dishwasher? Do I tile around it? If I tile under it, it won‘t fit in the spot then. I was going to tile around it... I do have room to tile under the fridge though. There is space above.

- Q: Can anyone tell me what type of tile this is? Name?
- All i will say is: its normally not a best thought to put it correct on top. It turns into extra seemingly for it to come up. After which the approach of taking over a layer of laminate and a layer of ceramic tile could be that a lot tougher when it happened. I consider the one technique to make that work with out taking up the ceramic tile is to make an air tight seal between the two. I couldn't give you any strategies on how to try this though.
