- Q: Hi i'm 13 years old and i'm always getting tired. for example every day i come home from school i go straight to sleep and i don't know why . This dident always happen till i got to 6th grade. And when i'm at my friends i get so tired and want to go to sleep but i don't know why either ? Please help me and tell me hy im getting so tired and sleepy now and days ?
- You may be starting puberty, and that would make this normal.
- Q: I am looking for electrical equipment that are commonly used in industrial plants, power plants or substation. I was hoping anybody here could help me.
- motors transformers switchgear motor control centers large breakers molded case circuit breakers disconnect switches load carrying cables signal and control wiring relays terminations etc.
- Q: Hello all!I know this is a crazy ideaBut I wanna try and build a mini automobile where a person could travel here and there :D I've already planned this but what are the basic requirements I need to engage in this project? I mean apart from the basic structure of the system, what are the main electronic devices and mechanical equipment I need to engage in this? I haven't done anything like this before but I think I have adequate experience. If someone could explain the basic concepts to build a mini automobile with the requirements I would be very grateful :)Thank you
- i'll tell you my Electrical point of view, you need to calculate the maximum load, and speed and choose the rating of the DC motor, and of course you need to design a driving circuit to control the speed of the motor, u need a gear to reduce the speed of the motor and get higher torque, that's so difficult for you look for something easier :P
- Q: I work on a plant where my workers have to trouble shoot low DC control voltage circuits besides high voltages ac running machines which are operated by inverters as well as from direct ac powerNeed a document or some tips to prevent electrical shocks and for electrician guidance
- Work only in dry environments. No water on the floor. Plug AC powered test equipment into a GFCI protected circuit. Really no safety issues on DC voltages under 50V. Only handle electrical leads with one hand. Keep the other in your pocket. Rubber mats to stand on. Rubber gloves worn inside leather gloves Face shield and arc-flash rated clothing when working on anything over 50VAC.
- Q: I will go to American in next month and I need to get some pieces of equipment e.gcamera, digital vedio,so I need someone canlet me know how much walt use in u.s.a .Because we use 210 walt in Hong Kong.I need to bring the adaptor or not.Chelsia Leung
- 120 volt / 60 Hz. Adapter kits should be readily available.
- Q: I have to declare a major soon, I am in the general engineering program at my school. And I am stuck between chemical and electrical. I love math, physics and chemistry, and have come trhough computer programming unharmed. I intend on going to graduate school when I am finished my bachelors, and in my career I want to be involved in research and development. basically, I would like to work in a lab/ at a desk and design and test new equipment, products etc. Also, I am NOT a hands-on, put on an over-all and crawl around in a factory type of person. What major do you think could best help me further my ambitions? Also, if I pick one, say chemical engineering, would it be easiy to get into grad school in another engineering discipline, such as electrical engineering?4 seconds ago - 3 days left to answer. - I am partial to electrical engineering, because in every field these days everything is more and more electrical or electronic. As an electrical engineer, I have worked in biotech, for refineries, on satellite components, on military ships, in nuclear power plants, and lots of other places. I am an easily bored person and my profession does not bore me.
- Q: I know that it would destroy active electrical equipment but if the device had no electricity going through it at the time could it be affected?
- Yes. So, the scene in the movie Broken Arrow where they're in the HMMW-V [aka humm-vee] is all wrong--as Hollywood physics usually is. The EMP provides enough damaging energy to create current in electrical ciruits which will fry them. Move a wire through a magnetic field and it will induce a current in the wire. Well the EMP is a very very very strong propigating magnetic field. The only way around this is to have a shielded device. The shielding provides a way for the energy of the EMP to discharge away from the device wihtout damaging the internal components. A shielded radio looks like a mouse upgraded to elephant standards. An example of EMP was the solar storm that hit Canada in I think the late 1980s. First the energy fried large parts of the power grid by causing transformers and even some wires to just explode. After the power was gone, not just out but gone from certain buildings and homes, there were incidents of lamps getting bright, dimming, going off, bright, dimmming and off again. All the energy that was re-lighting them was residual effects of the energy in the grid from the EMP or solar storm.
- Q: HiCan someone tell me what the difference is betweena) turning my TV (or whatever) off on the setb) turning it off at the switch on the wallc) unplugging itWhat I'm reading seems to suggest that only unplugging it really means its off - is that true?
- When you turn off modern Tvs from the remote, it will go to standby mode, there's still electricity on the circuit enough for the memory to remember your settings, like volume, time, the channel you've last watch before turning it off. When you turn off the switch from the wall or unplugging it, the Tv is now completely disconnected from the power source. You may loose personal settings, and when you plug it back on then it may function in the default settings. Leaving it plugged has advantages but surge, lighting, sudden voltage changes may damage it. So when you'll be out for days then unplug it from the AC outlet to play safe.
- Q: Assuming that it is safe to do so as far as people not getting hurt, will it damage the electrical equipment?
- To add to the first two good answers switches are designed specifically to make and break the rated current (and to do this many thousands of times without problem). If you simply pull the plug out of the wall, the break arcs occur in the wall socket which is not designed to do this thousands of times.
- Q: (without using any connection wires)? I frequently need to plug existing electrical equipment in places where there is no power outlet I have to use clumsy long tailed electrical extension plug that hinders free movement ? Short of using a battery in the equipment how to connect the power junction points (earth live neutral to an existing electrical power outlet using nothing but air in between)?
- Research is going on Wireless transmission of electricity in IIT, Madras, India. This will make considerable changes in how the electricity is transmitted in future certainly now, there is no way to transmit electricity wirelessly, you need to wait for some more years.
