- Q: I moved into new construction 2 yrs ago. Someone did a crappy job at laying floor tiles down and now some of them have come loose. Does the whole floor need to come up and redone?
- ceramic tile? Get a grout file and file out the grout from around the tile which is loose. Get a hammer and break up the tile which is loose if it won't come up after the grout is gone. Chisel down the existing thin set to the subfloor material. Apply new thin set, set new tile and re-grout after 24 hours. edit.. after finding out that you do not have another tile to replace it the procedure will be the same except hitting it with a hammer. It may come right up or you may have to gently pry it up. Gently and do not pry against an adjacent tile.
- Q: tiles...for construction or what?

- Q: We have a fireplace in our lower level that is outdated, dingy old masonry and doesn‘t fit with the rest of our updates down there. I would like to tile over it and have it ready for use before our family comes over for Thanksgiving. What is the best method?
- You can attach tile directly to masonry, it has been done all over the world for centuries (Italy, Spain, Middle East all use tile on the exterior of buildings...) I would assume normal thin-set mortar would work, but I believe it would depend on the exact type of masonry- concrete block or clay brick. A thicker adhesive bed will likely be necessary to smooth over the rough surface, but because of the relatively porous surface of most types of masonry your bond should be excellent. My only word of caution would be if you have any cracks in the masonry. Make sure they are not active (widening and narrowing), which may occur with temperature and humidity swings. Either way, you may choose to weld the crack with epoxy to prevent any crack movements that may telegraph through your tile and crack it. - Q: I want to replace my wood flooring with porcelain wood like tile because i have a dog but my uncle who is a contractor said because of the house not sitting on concrete foundation ( meaning you can go under the house) i can only install vinyl or wood flooring again because tile is too heavy but um we have tile in the kitchen and restrooms and my other uncle who has a two story home has tile upstairs so i dont get it
- Since you say its not on a cement foundation I ll assume its post and beam and I ll concure with your uncle the contractor. There is simple to much movement in this type of construction.. If its a medium or small breed of dog wood will work. Large dogs need to have their nails well trimmed all the time to have wood. There are many different types of vinyls (sheet and planks) that work great with dogs..Some good laminates ( not the 99 cent stuff) can work well also Traffic Master Allure is a VERY tough , water proof flooring that is a good option since wood and laminates are prone to water damage. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
- Q: Do they resist stains, scratches/nicks and does it protect it from fading and making it easier to clean? The tiles will be going in my kitchen and pantry. Are unglazed tiles, ideal for high-traffic areas?
- pro- easily cleaned. con- horrible glare from sunlight
- Q: Figure, I was in the indoor shoot, only two lights 600W1200w, brick surface is not bright matt antique tiles, moved to remove the two sides still have, I do not want to shoot good-looking, is to accurately accurate design printing of. Is there any way? Do you have to be back? Polar mirror ok? By the way, what kind of high-reflective polished tiles to shoot?
- 1, CPL (circular polarizer) is a photography enthusiasts more commonly owned filters, generally used for landscape photography, eliminate unnecessary polarized light, so that the whole picture is more clear, more transparent feeling, it is recommended to find A polarizer mounted to facilitate the maximum elimination of reflective; 2, to eliminate the reflective Polarizer is not omnipotent, pay attention to the direction of your light, try to use soft, or studio and other special auxiliary equipment to shoot, to obtain more general light, try to avoid strong direct light, or day Utilize natural light. No matter what type of light or other light source, pay attention to the direction of the lens with the light direction to adjust to refraction at least. 3, pay attention to the scope of light exposure, if not enough light to fill the light plate, this light is also more soft. 4, white balance should pay attention to the need for accurate metering, pay attention to compensation settings. Otherwise the color of your tile photo may and will actually have a big contrast
- Q: I live in Tennessee near nashville, I want to recarpet and ceramic tile in my house but want an estimated cost, of how much so i dont get jipped It‘s a 2,000 sq ft house and.. its two bath one kitchen for tile and three bedroom and living room and hallway for carpet.. anyone know where i can get help i dont want to overpay at all! also empire company has anyone ever done business with them? know if they are good at all///?
- DO NOT buy overpriced ceramic tile at a huge chain store. Find a discount builder warehouse of some kind that carries flooring supplies. We recently put new 12x12 tile throughout our entire house and paid only 68cents per tile! We got rid of all the carpet, it is so nasty! You wouldn't believe the germs, mold, dirt, sand, bugs, etc., that get trapped underneath, no matter how much you vacuum. The labor price depends on the worker. Ask around, find a friend who knows someone who lays tile. We had a friend lay ours for about $1.00 per square foot.
- Q: i‘m seventeen and my family is moving into a new house soon. I get my own bathroom and would like to redo it a little bit, because it looks like it is straight out of that seventies show. we are going to have to go pretty cheap on the interior design because of the big purchase, so it cant be anything too expensive. the only real problem is the walls of the bathroom are tiled.
- Wow, I was expecting to see some gaudy awful tile. This tile looks brand new and is in great shape. Not only that, it really is not some horrible, obnoxious color, either. Because this is in a shower, there is nothing you can do that will be on the cheap because it does have to be water proof to avoid mold and mildew problems. If there is a paint to go over tile in a shower, I am unaware of such a product. It is never cheap to take down and replace this amount of tile. Just get a cool shower curtain and that will take care of that. Or, just do what I would do, embrace it and find some funky and fun way to incorporate the green and yellow into your color scheme. That tile really is not all that bad, considering what I have seen in my day. Blue goes well with yellow and green and so does red. Go shop for some shower curtains and you will be sure to find something you can live with. Good luck, and like I said, there are far worse tiles and colors you could have been stuck with.
- Q: how to install the tin molding around the edge of the tiles
- I wallpapered the ceiling in our mattress room (on my own!) with pretend plaster paintable wallpaper from dwelling house Depot, and now i'm additionally desirous to do a pretend tin ceiling interior the eating room. i've got regarded at Anaglypta paintable wallpaper, yet i'm leaning extra in the direction of the recent vinyl wallpapers (Petite Punched Tin Ceiling result Raised Texture metallic Wallcovering) that are available in distinctive metallic colorations and look lots like the actual element. this could save me a number of of time portray and glazing to get the excellent result. Paintable wallpaper can look monochrome and flat except you place some extra advantageous artwork into it. The vinyl ones i'm speaking approximately are on internet site 2 of the hyperlink under. stable luck!
