- Q: My bathroom size is 7 ‘*11 ‘. If I want to use 20*20 tiles, will it look good? I want to use bigger tiles because I don‘t like grouts. Can we put anything to make the tile not so slippy?
- My sister has 20 by 20 in her kitchen and it looks very good. Darker grout doesn't look like it gets as dirty as lighter grout. I know you didn't ask that but I thought that might be why you don't like grout. You can get textured tile or non slip tile.
- Q: I am looking for an obsolete 8X8 ceramic tile I believe was made by Interceramic. It‘s described on my original sales slip from 1999 as IC WestPalm Surf It‘s solid white in color and has a slight pebble texture. I need to modify my kitchen some and don‘t want to tear up the entire floor to install new type tile. Any ideas how to find this tile if there‘s any left out there.
- IC did away with the 8x8 tile about 8 to 10 years ago .. They revamped there line to a 10 and 13 inch tile..10 didn t last long at all..Soon the did away with most all the red bodied tile.. So please don t even bother trying.. You will have to do something else , like a border and or accents. There were reclamation places that bought up old lots of tile but none that I know about now.. - Q: I just installed a backsplash in my kitchen. It is glass mosaics with slate - 1x1. Today I began grouting and after it sat for 2 hours ( as instructed) I began wiping it down with a wet sponge. After scrubbing it for about an hour there is still a considerable amount of grout on the tiles - especially the slate. I used non sanded grout which is recommended for my tiles, but it will not come off! What can I do to remove the grout off of these tiles without scratching them? Please help. Thankyou
- I don t know who told you 2 hrs but that's totally wrong.He/ she should be shot or fired for telling you that. I d suggest a sanded grout for a slate, even a small 1x1 but with the glass tiles, you have to be careful not to scratch them. Did you seal the slate prior to setting or at least grouting?The grout my be clinging to the unsealed slate as well. At this point vinegar and water will not touch it. Start by scrapping off excess with a pc of wood or a plastic scraper.Don t use any thing metal. Once the excess is off, get a cleaner specifically for grout clean up.Hydroment makes a product called Remove but you can find other products were tile products are sold. - there are some all pourpose tile cleaners that cater to these type of problems, some have acidic contents and cannot be used on marble tiles however. it is important that you know the tile and check the lables of any proguct u purchase or use to c if it is compatible. for tips on removing stains and gout see the source link

- Smiles; I got here late. Good On ya Steve and papercut. They've essentially said all I could say after multiple bath remodels and truck loads of tile. Take their suggestions. LOL; OK I'll add two cents. Without knowing the style or size of tile you intend; wall tile is often easier to install; or offers a better install if you use the Mesh backed. My second penny would be used to suggest 1/8 grout lines at most; and take the tile all the way to the ceiling. I use a Poly blend Mortar and grout, as opposed to a mastic. I also agree with paper cut in that I try to convince customers to NOT always tile the shower floor. I prefer the molded shower bases; with the wall tile down to them; but that's just a personal choice. Certainly no matter; a decent PAN is neccesary..
