the 210 part of a excavator classification is the metric weight, with a decimal removed from it.. in other words, 210 means 21.0 metric tons, is the weight of the machine, and so forth.. like a hitachi 135 would be 13.5 metric tons.. you get the point.. the only kicker is Cat.. they throw a 3 at the beginning of every excavator model, but the classification remains for the final 2 numbers.. like their 321 would be the same as a 210.. just ignore the 3.. 330 would be a 300, and so forth.. anything relatively the same weight will be close to the same machine in terms of size, reach, and power, give or take a little on the specs.

Q: I recently lost my vision in one eye (permanently) due to lack of maintenance (on there end) on equipment that I rented. I rented a excavator from a rental company and shortly after using it part of the machinery (the tooth from the bucket) flew off and hit me in the eye permanently blinding me. Also there was no windshield on this to pull down for protection. Is there a legal case to this? The piece that hit me was approx. 3quot; wide x 6quot; long x 2quot; thick of solid steel, hitting me at approx. 30-40 mph and almost knocking me out. I'm not talking about a little piece of metal that would bounce off of safety glasses. The metal of course did not actually go into my eye but rather hit me so hard it smashed my eyeball flat. Also, we found out later that the bolts holding the tooth on were not the ones made for this excavator, were not the right size and were not hardened bolts. They should not have been used period.
This is why God invented safety glasses. Since you chose not to wear them any chance you have of a claim has likely gone down the toilet.

Are you positive about that part number? I can't find it on the Net or in the Allied Electronics catalog. AE usually has just about every IC that exists.

I put down sand, and used a 2x4 to smooth, then placed a level on the 2x4 and working the 2x4 360 deg leveled by shifting the sand. Works.

Q: Since ore grades continue to get lower and lower it would seem that we will never run out of metals in the foreseeable future. Is this because mining methods are more efficient and economical?
As demand for metals goes up, price goes up making lower grade material economic to mine. Mining methods are more efficient to a point but is the dollar value per ton that is the driving force. Gold is the best current example of this: large scale mines 10 years ago would have been mining at an average grade of 1.5-2 grams per tonne. Today mining is economical in the same mine down to 0.5 grams per tonne.
