Q:A friend has told me that there is a product (he thought the name was something like Essomite) that is a liquid that when poured into a crevice or drilled hole in a rock or cement will harden and expand with enough force to crack the rock or cement material. He thinks that it is a product that was developed by a Japanese company. I've tried searching on the name but have come up with nothing. Anyone know of such a product? Thank you.: It's called Betonomite. You have to drill a hole in the cement or rock. Then mix it up and pour it in. It expands and cracks the rock. Just do a google search for it.

Q:We are having a new concrete floor poured in our basement. There are two small rooms divided by block walls which are not bearing walls. The excavator told me that if these walls are filled with cement it would be painstakingly hard to demolish them. So I would like to know how I could quickly determine if they are hollow or filled.: sledgehammer

Q:I have done alot of 330's but never anthing beyond that. I will be buying A different rig to do it. anyting special i need to know. Looks the same to me other than I will be using a jeep and pilot cars sometimes. I hear it pays around $135.00 hr. Does that sound about right? I live in AZ.: Well, I know a Deer 270 weighs around 64k LBS. and a 350 comes in at around 77k. The transport length is only a foot longer on the 350 and the width/hight is the same. There should be little difference between the 330 and the 345, I guess not enough that you would have any problems.

Q:Excavator maintenance: not sure what the question is but i will give it a shot. grease all pivot points daily. change oil and filters per the maintenance schedule for your machine, usually measured in hours of service. check for cracks in the machine that may need welding daily. track adjustment needs to be maintained also and this will depend on how much you tram it. if you are working in one area say loading out trucks all day long it wont be as often as it would be if you are having to tram the machine allot. there is a whole lot of things to consider, like hyd hoses, filters etc

Q:I have bought a 1 month old pastel ball he's in a seperat terrarium in another room then my 12 other adults he looks gorgeous and is Happy and active well here it it's I have a 30 by 12 by 18 tank one side has excavator tunnel's and a cave and a tree with zilla plastic plants this is his heat side I have a regular fluker basking spot running 12 hours and a black heat light that runs 24/7 then in the middle a large water dish then a all living things corner cave on the cool side along with a 15in reptiglo 5.0 and a fogger he is absolutely the most happy snake I've ever seen I also use eco earth he tunnel's in it also. But I feed him in a separate tank so he doesn't eat eco earth I know it's over kill but he's a happy happy snake also 2 other zilla plants over each cave.: Very nice, he will be spoiled :)

Q:My kids broke the key on my Cat 380c excavator, but since it is a gray market machine im not sure if its fixable. Is the starting cylinder interchangeable? will the key be the same type? and my last question is since it was imported from Japan it doesn't have a us title so i dont have any proof of ownership so will the dealership still try to get the proper key or will think think its stolen?: try a locksmith. they can make a duplicate key from the ignition.

Q:We are considering buying a Bobcat 331 mini excavator. We are looking at a used one from a dealer for approx $25K. It has 600 hrs. My question is: Do you think that the savings of buying a used machine with an unknown history from an auction outweigh getting a more expensive machine with low hours from a dealer with a documented service record? I know that a lot of the auction machines are rental companies making room for newer machines.Is 25K too much to spend on a Bobcat 331 with 600 hours, 2 buckets and thumb attachment?: Don't know much about equipment, but we have a Bobcat skid steer on our property that has been excellent.

Q:I need directions on changing motor oil on Caterpillar 320cl excavator?: at the back of the machine on the swing structurebelow the engine there should be a a hole in the metal or you can remove a peice of the metal but it should be at the back of the machine not far from the counter weight but if you look there is a hole or something you mite have to remove but they have a way of getting back there to do that if you still cant find it call you local cat dealer and they will beable to tell you were it is

Q:Sometimes long term, some times short term - per job basis. How do the dr. and cr.? I can see it being both a COGS and an expense account. What is the proper method and how would my journal entries work?: If the equipment is used directly in the construction side of the project, e.g. excavators, then the equipment is a direct cost and I would include it under COGS. If the equipment is like an overhead projector you use when you make a sales pitch before you got the contract, that would be a selling expense. Dr Equipment rental expense xxx Cr Cash or accounts payable xxx
