- Are you talking about vacuum *cleaners*? Calling one a vacuum is just a diminutive colloquialism. You did know that didn't you? You are correct, though, in that the vacuum is something that can be expanded as opposed to the nothing that those who take it for granted assume it to be. It has properties like length, width, breadth, and time, which all inflated during by the Big Bang, and are expanding still. Nothing, by contrast, has no properties.

- Toddlers. When my younger brother was a toddler(he's now 8), my older brother would tell him that the vacuum was going to suck his brains out and he was terrified. It took a few years for him to get over it. I now have a 1.5 yr old sister and she too is afraid of the vacuum, although she hasn't been told about it's brain-sucking powers. I can't remember any of us other kids being afraid, but we might have been. I've never met or heard of a dog who was afraid of the vacuum, though.

- Q: It's not but two years old. Took it to a house with really old electrical outlets/wiring system, plugged it in and it ran. Turned it off, tried to turn it back on and it wouldn't turn on again. No electric box switches were tripped/turned off. Also tried it in outlets in all three rooms but it still didn't turn on. Fo vacuum cleaners have fuses the protect the motor? Any thoughts as to what's going on and/or what I can do (besides buy a new one)? Any advice appreciated.
- Check the machine for a clog somewhere in the system then look for a reset switch. Some vacuums have a thermal switch that cuts out when the motor gets too hot.
