Q: How efficient are vacuum cleaners in preventing the dust and other dirt that they suck from escaping through the air outlet. I'm using a Khind branded wet and dry vaccum cleaner model VC 3661, priced about USD 60, manufactured in 2004. The type that is shaped like a bucket and has its air outlet facing upwards and a removable, washable cotton bag inside. I notice that it has only two layers (slices) of dark -colored Sponge like material when I remove the air outlet cover. Is that sufficient to prevent dust, dirt and most importantly bacteria from coming out form the cleaner itself. It could be releasing the bacteria and spreading it all over the place.: Many vacuum cleaners do an excellent job of picking up dust and dirt. Those that use bags to dispose of the sweepings do a good job of retaining the dust and dirt in the bag. Whether it eliminates bacteria is not indicated on the bag.

Q: I am looking to spend up to $400 on a new vacuum as my wife has some pretty nasty allergies to dust mites and molds. Any suggestions as to make/models or even just types of vacuums (bagless/bag) that I should consider. Q: I'm looking for a bagless upright to clean my one bedroom apartment that is all hardwood floors. I have a stick vac, but I'd like something with attachments to do furniture and between things. I got a few on black friday, but they are all too loud. I don't have any pets, but I do have long hair. Thanks!: You might find a used Dyson, or find one on sale - they are WELL worth the price, and I live in a house that could be a test sight for any home appliance. On the other hand, I have also seen at least one Shark at the recyucle shed per week. Not a good sign.

Q: Are they worth the money? Do they really clean the air?: Rainbow vaccums are very expensive, for commercial use i say there ok, for residential it does ok. My girlfriend used to sell them and she demonstrated one at my house. When she went to clean my mattress, the machine pulled the fabric and ripped it. Too much suction for the mattress. ORECK is really a good one for residential and they stand by there name, if you have a problem you can go to a local dealer and they will fix it. Rainbow is like selling avon, it would have to be shipped back to the manufacturer and you would have to pay for shipping charges and in the meantime, you have no vac to use-takes a few weeks to have it back.

Q: Would you rather buy a Small vacuum cleaners or Used The vacuum cleaners at the Car Wash ?: When they are between detailing i have a small car vacuum of my own.. it seems as though every time i relied on the car wash vacuum they were broken or filthy.

Q: Can anyone/everyone help me in knowing what to buy as far as vacuum cleaners go?? I am in desperate need to replace the piece of crap that I currently have and are having a heck of a time doing it, for there are oh I don't know millions of them!!! I have a cat, 2 adults 3 kids so I definitely live in a High Traffic Household. Also I need one that comes with a hose (not just the floor sucking kind) and lots of attachments cause I like to go against the wall where the kids get dirt in the corners and the cat gets cat litter. PLEASE HELP!!!: I've had a kirby G4 (generation 4) and it's been great. The only downside is you can only buy the bags from a dealer (or rep like at a sewing center or repair shop) or online and they tend to be expensive. It comes with alot of attachments, but to use the hose requires getting down, removing the front metal part and attaching the hose. They usually come with a dvd (or you can probably watch it on their website) that goes over how to take that on and off, and do other things with it like using it for a blower (like to clean your deck of leaves), rug shampoer and upholstery cleaner, and how to remove the bag. They tend to be heavy but last forever. Any of the generation (G) models would probably be fine.
