- Q: Has anyone built a log home the old fashion way? If so do you have photos online and where? If you know of more info I could use where online is it?
- my brother in law did this, and it was HARD!, and took a long time, he did everything himself, to cutting down the trees, peeling the logs and evrything. he also made the all the furniture, and light fixtures. his house was featured in home garden, magazine.a few years back... you may want to look in the homegarden magazine archives. he explained everything. it took him 3 years to build,, (just the home)
- Q: This year they are during the same week. I am trying to decide which one would be best to attend. Have you been to either/both in the past and what did you think of them.thanks
- I've been to the one in St. Louis. I enjoyed it. There were many interesting, fun things to see. Lots of useful information booths, too. I went a couple of years ago to the one in downtown St. Louis. If you enjoy home decor and, especially, gardening and landscaping, I think you'd enjoy the show.
- Q: Bought a mirror at wal mart. and now stumped in how to hang it. its a better homes and gardens full length?its a better homes and gardens full length mirror and comes with quot;easy to install hardware.quot; the hardware are two little triangle things hinged onto a square shaped part with a hole on the end. does that make sense?
- The little brackets are screwed or nailed to the wall. The mirror rests on the house shape with the roof shape hooking the mirror. These are called mirror mount clips. You really need 4 of them. 2on the bottom and 2 o0n the top. Set the bottom clips first to get the wanted height. Position the top clips after the mirror is in place to get the correct spacing.
- Q: I'm looking to buy Landscape Design software for DIY projects. I'm reading good things about Better Homes and Garden Home Design Suite and Punch! softwares. Anyone used them or have any recommendations for either, both, or something else?
- Most of the software available, including Better Homes and Garden Suite, is tricky to use and really leaves you without any real plan. Honestly, I would recommend using good old fashioned pencil and paper to come up with your initial design. Or perhaps try the free Sketch-up software from Google. Just search for Google Sketch Up. Another idea might be to call your local community college and see if one of their design students might put something together for free as a resume' builder or perhaps a class project. Also, many nurseries will put together a professional design for free if you buy the plants from them. Hope that helps!
- Q: I am looking for an old Dutch Apple Pie recipe that was in an edition of Better Homes and Gardens in the early 90's. I had the page from the magazine, but now I cannot find it, and I need it for Thanksgiving.
- Google is your friend!!!
- Q: I have the sims 3 and I thought it would be cool to start a garden, but I'm not sure how to....
- Get some seeds (or go to the store and buy the fruit or veggie) and start planting in your backyard. Is that what you're talking about? A home garden? Find an area on your property and start planting. I usually have big gardens. It would be cool if they'd make it so we can have greenhouses. You can go into your build tools if you want to make it look more like a garden. If you need to, take a gardening class which will give you some starter seeds and start planting and keep building your gardening skill so you can plant higher level stuff. I usually have one sim who's a master at fishing, cooking, and gardening and that way I don't have to buy food from the store. :D
- Q: to control insects etc, on vegetables and herbs.
- 1 cup of cig butts,soak in 1 qt warm h20 over nite,,strain,use spray bottle,,wks great
- Q: in home and garden, the recent answers are weeks old, and not there. they all say deleted or under review. you mean to tell me no one in 4 weeks hasposted a question in home and garden and they are all still under review?
- I think you might have your filter set to Fewest Answers, which makes you see those old questions (shouldn't be happening regardless but that feature is broken). Go to Home Garden and look for the gear icon on the right side of the purple bar. In that drop-down menu, choose No Best Answer or All, and then you should see questions that were posted today. That Fewest Answers thing only seems to show old questions that have been answered or under review instead of newer questions like we would like to see. EDIT: My setting just defaulted to Fewest Answers for some reason, so I think this may be your problem.
- Q: The Statistical Abstract of the United States gives the median size of a home garden as 663 square feet.
