- Q: The back window on my convertible got a hole put in it last winter, since then I've just been using tape to keep it together. I have a new plastic window complete with trim that will make a suitable replacement, I just need to know what kind of adhesive and how to apply it so that it stays put when the top is up and folds accordingly when the top goes down. I'd like to remove the old back window as well.
- Any auto parts store should have a strong silicone to hold it in
- Q: I have a '97 Wrangler w/ soft top, the windows are scratched from tree limbs and I would like to take them out. Any suggestions, or tips?
- The best thing to do is go to a marine supply store they have special products to clean and take the haze off plastic windows which are used on boat side curtains. Provided your windows are soft plastic.
- Q: Last night I went to get the wheaterization plastic for windows but grab a plastic drop cloth on accident will this still work ?
- It will certainly work. I have used them up to now have had first-class outcome. I like the 3M kits higher than the familiar company however the general kits work well too. (buy a piece of weather stripping within the window package part of Lowes or wherever you store in your window package. Location it alongside the window sill when you've got one. Position it where the window sill come collectively to help lower on the draft) ensure you read the recommendations on the window package box cautiously. If you cut the plastic too short or no longer wide adequate, you're in difficulty. The hair dryer ought to be used to seal the plastic tightly against the window, simply don't put the dryer too almost the plastic or it is going to put a hole in it. If there are wrinkles within the plastic, you have got to observe extra heat to the plastic. Caulking across the window on the outside will make a massive difference additionally. When you've got any rooms which might be cold or drafty, don't forget to make use of the little outlet protectors that humans use so their childrens cannot stick some thing in the outlet get zapped. You could purchase a package deal of them cheaply at the buck retailer. They keep the draft out.
- Q: Where can I buy some plastic to put up to my windows for the winter? ?
- WalMart in the USA.
- Q: I am moving with my family into a house that has large plastic skylights. The trouble is that the former tenant told me that a they are very thermally conductive and contribute to astronomical heating and cooling bills. I spoke with a contractor about it and he said tinting would be the only way to go because normal plastic insulation film wouldn't stick on the windows as they are themselves plastic. But I don't want to tint the windows and lose the lovely light. Does anybody think the plastic film would work or have any other ideas? Thanks for any help you can give!
- You could get window insulation kits that have a sheet of plastic that you can mount to the frame of the inside frame of the window with their double sided tape. They are shrunk by using a hair dryer, this will create a dead air space between the window and the plastic to reduce your heating costs. A roller curtain can be mounted just outside the window frame to reduce the heat that comes in with the sun to help reduce the cooling costs in the summer.
- Q: I have a window that is bigger than the largest piece of plastic i have, is there a way to use 2 pieces like tape them together or something?
- Have you looked in home improvement stores for big, wide, heavy duty (thick) pieces of plastic? {usually comes off of a roll) It may be big enough, and being heavier, it will do a better job of preventing heat loss.
- Q: Can anyone help with a cleaning agent that i could use on the windows to bring them up good, and what should i use on the outside to clean it also
- My guess would be vinegar and water. No glass cleaner.
- Q: Do they still make them. Like the ones we used to have in the 70's and 80's. Or is it an outdated concept? If yes, where can I find them or how can I make one? The pole has to be about 8 feet long. thanks! : )
- Do you mean like the ones where you pull them down and they unroll, and then to open them back up you pull down slightly and push them back up? I have those and I got them at the Home Depot. You can special order them in whatever size you want. And, they're fairly inexpensive. I have them on two picture windows with a southwest exposure, one about 6 feet long and the other about 7 feet long. I also have 2-inch horizontal mini blinds on those windows. But, the blinds are so long and heavy that they don't completely close all the way. So, I had to install the roll-up blinds behind them. And, they work great.
- Q: So I drunkenly put my elbow through my friend's passenger window in his jeep wrangler..he's pissed and is demanding $200 for its replacement or he's pressing charges. Yeah, nice friend. 200 dollars sounds like an astronomical amount for a piece of plastic that zips onto your car. Am I getting ripped off?
- You're not getting ripped off... those things are surprisingly expensive.
- Q: I really ought to have asked this yesterday. How can I help my plastic-and-duct-tape car window survive a torrential downpour/thunderstorm??? It's the front, passenger-side window, and I can't get the glass replaced until Wednesday. :S What can I do???
- You know what they say about Duct tape......Spare the Duct tape spoil the project (Red Green) Get a 5 mil plastic then along with taping it to the inner part of the door, to help keep it dry. put an X pattern on the plastic, this will reinforce it.
