These are two different things, since there must be a factor of safety on the failure load to get to the working load. The factor of safety varies from code to code and depending on what the plate/chain is being used for. The failure load would be the net cross section of the plate (after subtracting out the hole) x the strength of the plate. In this case it would be (2 - .5)*3/16*38000psi=10,687.5 lbs You would also need to check the strength of the chain to make sure that it doesn't break before the plate.

- 154cm is a very good knife steel, the problem is in the heat treating. Stainless should be cryo treated to get all it can offer. That being said, if you really want to drop some coin, look at getting one made from CPM 440V. Stainless isn't as strong as carbon but on a smaller knife works well. You might also look for D-2 Tool steel. There are factory knives that are made of that.

- I think 12L14 is NOT heat hardenable, because it is low-carbon. You may try heating and quenching it, but it won't harden much. It can be hardened by cold-working - drawing or rolling processes. However, these are usually done by the material manufactures, and most machine shops do not have the capability to do this in house. Can you try 1144 steel instead? 1144 is medium-carbon (0.44%), and heat treatable. It is also free machining grade like 12L14. Other medium carbon steels are also heat hardenable: 1040, 1050, etc.

- The okorder /... Beware of eBay deals unless you know what you're buying. To start, you should get a 10-string single neck with 3 pedals and 4 levers. Some of the student models don't have as many levers and aren't capable of all the changes you need. Stay away from the ShoBud Maverick...you'll outgrow it in a couple of months. Often it makes more sense to buy a used professional model...you'll eventually need one, and they hold their value better than a student model. You'll also need a volume pedal, bar, thumb and finger picks. For now, your guitar amp will be ok. Playing the guitar: There are several tunings and lots of different combinations of levers, but the basic guitar is a 10 string E9 tuning. It's almost an open E but with a few extra notes. The pedals and levers raise and lower the pitch of selected strings. Chord changes are made by moving the bar and pressing pedals and levers. The volume pedal helps you swell and sustain notes. - infi is a brand name steel. They have it specially made and the composition is supposed to be a secret though it is similar to 52100. I have used knives from Busse and their sister company Swamprat Knives. Both companies make good knives, even if their advertising may be a bit odd. They are pricey, but are also very good knives with good steel and ergonomics. If you have the money they are a good option. I don't know if Swamprat still makes knives, but I have a 4'' folder from them in s30v that is great. Benchmade makes some great knives as well, though not nearly a custom as Busse. Take a look at the 913, a 3.6'' D2 blade that was a spring release and G10 handle for a good price. An excellent knife.
