Q: I own a crappy steel string acoustic and a very nice electric guitar.I have saved up to buy a new acoustic but I cannot decide to just invest in a better steel string or explore around with a nylon string. From others experience, will I get my fill of satisfaction of playing on a nylon, or should I stick to a steel string?
Nylon string guitars are mostly classical guitars ment for classical and flamenco music, both guitars, nylon and steel, sound really well. My dad has a steel acoustic and I have a nylon classical guitar by Cordova It just depends on what style of music you play. When your buying a new guitar, play as many guitars to try them out once you find what you which one you want, you'll know
Q: What is the average shelf life of a painted steel coil?
The average shelf life of a painted steel coil can vary depending on various factors such as the quality of paint used, environmental conditions, and storage practices. However, under normal conditions, the average shelf life of a painted steel coil is typically around 1 to 2 years.
Q: On how to reinforce steel coils in a container
They can be strapped to the floor with wire ropes and locks
Q: What are the dimensions of steel coils used in bridge construction?
The dimensions of steel coils used in bridge construction can vary depending on the specific requirements of the bridge project. However, generally speaking, the dimensions of steel coils used in bridge construction typically range from 0.5 inches to 1 inch in thickness and 36 inches to 72 inches in width. The length of the coils can vary as well, but is commonly around 20 to 40 feet. These dimensions allow for the fabrication of various structural components such as beams, columns, and plates that are essential for the construction of bridges. It is important to note that the dimensions may vary based on the specific design and engineering specifications of the bridge project, as well as the type and load capacity of the bridge being constructed.
Q: What is the minimum temperature that steel coils can withstand?
The minimum temperature that steel coils can withstand depends on the specific grade of steel and its intended application. However, in general, most steel coils can withstand temperatures as low as -40°C (-40°F) without significant damage or structural failure.
Q: More specifically steel wire (around 1/8 diameter). I'm doing a science fair project where I'm testing if concrete encased in steel has more fire resistance than steel by itself. However, I have no idea what the dimensions of concrete encased steel is so I can't scale down. And if I did have the dimensions I wouldn't know how to encase it around the steel wire (do I just poor concrete over it (heck I've never even used concrete)? Thanks for any help.
Yeah, just pour the concrete over it, but make sure the steel is in the middle of the concrete (I'm sure you can figure out a way to do this). What you're thinking of is called steel rebar.
Q: I want to make a chess set out of stainless steel, but I'm not sure what type of mold I need or where I can go to have the steel melted and molded for me. Any ideas? I live in Southern, NJ.
stainless steel is really hard to work with and will be really expensive to pour as not too many foundries do that. As far as tools go, I know that for e.g.drilling stainless steel cobalt bits are best, but even they don't last for very long. If you use normal drill bits stainless steel will ruin them. So how much metal working skills do you have? I would suggest to use a material you have experience with. Or make a chess set from nuts and bolts. You can buy them from stainless steel and the assembly is easy. See links for a few examples and/or use google to find more.
Q: Can steel coils be coated with light-reflective materials?
Yes, steel coils can be coated with light-reflective materials. These materials, such as metallic coatings or specialized paints, can enhance the reflective properties of the steel surface, making it more resistant to heat absorption and reducing energy consumption.
Q: How are steel coils used in the manufacturing of railway wagons?
Steel coils are used in the manufacturing of railway wagons as they are transformed into various components such as the wagon frames, undercarriages, and body panels. These coils are processed and shaped through cutting, bending, and welding techniques to create the necessary parts for the wagons. The strength and durability of steel make it an ideal material for constructing railway wagons that can withstand heavy loads and harsh conditions on the tracks.
Q: A 100 kg solid steel ball with a radius of 5 m is being spun on ice with an angular velocity of 5 rev/s pointed into the ice (clockwise rotation when viewed from above).A student shoots a 10 kg marble at the steel ball. The marble hits the ball along its side as shown with an initial velocity of 5 m/s to the left. If, right after the collision, the final velocity of the marble is 2.5 m/s to the left, what is the angular velocity of the steel ball after the collision?
You need to do conservation of angular momentum about the steel ball's axis. Angular momentum = I.ω The steel ball's initial ω = 5 rev/s = 5*2pi rad/s = 31.4 rad/s The steel ball's moment of inertia I = (2/5)*m*r^2 = 40*25 kg.m^2 = 1000 kg.m^2 The marble's initial ω = v / r where r is the perpendicular distance from the steel ball's axis You need to look at the diagram for this. The marble's I about the steel ball's axis is I = m*r^2 where r is the same as above. (marble is treated as a point mass). Then work out the total initial ang. momentum = final ang. momentum and solve for ω...
