Q: What is the meaning of 53 grade cement ?
The grade of a portland cement corresponds to how much pressure it can take after it has set for 28 days. 53-grade cement must have a compressive strength of 53 MegaPascals (7687 pounds per square inch) after 28 days. There are also 33 and 43 grades, which must have minimum compressive strengths of 33 and 43 MPa respectively.
Q: I was planning on using Hardie Backer, but the instruction state that Hardie Backer is not designed for use over concrete. I need to raise the finished floor height about one inch to match an existing floor. If I can use cement backer board, do I use thin set to attach the backer board to the concrete? If I can't use it, what are my options?
No .. The only way to build it up to even think about it is to use a thin set under a cement board, and using that much thinset it doesn t have the compression strength . And you cannot properly attach a cement board to cement. Best way to achieve this is to use a mud which is basically using cement to make another floor. You ll need lathe , portland cement and sand . The sand and cement in the proper ratio and mixed to a special dry consistency is then used to make another floor over your slab. Special tricks and method to do this. Care must be taken when doing this over a slab. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q: (in pounds)
I think there needs to be more data. For example, how much volume does one pound of cement fill....or something like that in order to complete the equation.
Q: I skateboard and snowboard, and falling on the cement, or falling in the snow doesn't hurt nearly as much as falling on strait ice, like in an ice-skating rink. Why is that?
snow has a lot of air between the snow particles, so your fall is cushioned...(in physics terms, the time it takes the snow to bring your speed to zero is longer therefore it requires less force) however, I am not sure about ice vs. cement...cement hurts pretty badly...maybe you are feeling the effects of the cold? not really sure how to explain your experiences on ice, but falling on cement is something I would definitely try to avoid
Q: I have a small nick on my tire, and just a small piece of rubber is hanging out. There is no air coming out and the cords or anything is not showing, don't be alarmed. I've driven around with this car and nothing has happened. It just cut the top portion of the tire, not so deep where any major damage is visible. I'm afraid to just rip the little piece off. Can I use rubber cement glue to glue the little piece back together?Once again, there is no major damage to the tire. No air coming out or cords showing. Just a slight tear.
Correct. Can we please no longer make a bunch of assumptions? Try slightly curiosity before y'all believe you know what is going on on. I am within the equal situation. This hose for my auto shouldn't be on hand new, and it have got to be patched, or I need to scour the continent for junk-yards with the hose still in the automobile. Thanks hyper-dog. Good suggestions. I'm additionally wondering if A bicycle-tire variety patch package would work. The oven scan is as a rule a excellent one.
Q: I dug out a place for fire pit. I thought some cement blocks would be good to keep things in order. I'm looking at circle, and I would like it to be about about 1-2/1 ft. tall. For these twigs and small limbs that keep falling out of my gag-gum pine trees. What u say?
I agree......cement blocks are an unwise choice. Go to a home supply place and get some large stones...however many you need. Set them almost touching the firewood!!......and then start a trial-run fire. Keep it burning for a good couple hours at least. The stones being so close to the fire will get really hot, which is what you want. If any decide to 'blow', they should do it now, and...you don't want to be sitting around the fire either, you just want to keep an eye on it from afar while you're doing other things. Once you're done with this, you should be able to set them in place at the outer perimeter of the pit and be ready for regular use. You see....stones and rocks can contain water. When they get hot the water will expand to boil.....so what you have is like a low-grade hand grenade, and they can crack very sharply and loudly sometimes. Often chips and pieces fly off and they can and have blinded people, and hit people in the face, etc. It's just a dangerous situation that can, and should be avoided. Cement blocks have loads of water in them. It's not a matter of IF they shatter or break.....it's when. Do it right....take the time.....so you can have a safe place to hang around a fire.
Q: we are interesting in using larger travertine tile
most tile is put down on cement so your alright there. go to your hardware store and thy will fix you up but you need a mortar that is good for out side like what you would use for a shower don't for get to put a sealer on it or all your hard work will be for nothing
Q: Which Cement is the best to build a building.Like 5000 PSI or 8500 PSI, what is the different in between them, or they use for. Thanks
psi means
Q: I have an old concrete brick structure with cement floor, with high tin roof all in good shape. I would like to add a restroom in it. How can I securely build a wall? It's my first time trying this type of project, so I was wondering if I have to break up the floor to anchor the wall. Thank you.
try adding more concrete
Q: Is a Cemented or Uncemented Prosthesis Better?
The response to this differs for various people. Because each person’s condition is exclusive, the physician and also you must weigh the pros and cons. Cemented substitutes tend to be more commonly used for older, less active people and individuals with weak bones, for example individuals who've brittle bones, while uncemented substitutes tend to be more commonly used for more youthful, more active people. Research has shown that cemented and uncemented prostheses have comparable rates of success. Studies also indicate that if you want one more hip replacement, or revision, the rates of success for cemented and uncemented prostheses are comparable. However, more lengthy-term data can be found in the U . s . States for stylish substitutes with cemented prostheses, because doctors have used them here because the late sixties, whereas uncemented prostheses weren't introduced before the late seventies. The main drawback to an uncemented prosthesis may be the extended recovery period. Since it requires a very long time for that natural bone to develop and fix towards the prosthesis, you aren't uncemented substitutes must limit activities for approximately 3 several weeks to safeguard the stylish joint. Also, it's more prevalent for somebody by having an uncemented prosthesis to see leg discomfort within the several weeks following a surgery, as the bone keeps growing in to the prosthesis.
