- Q: So does anyone know how to properly wash a rug. A living room sized rug.... 8x10... without damaging it or anything? My darling 2 y/o has spilt plenty of things on it and it's time for a washing!
- i had this problem alot too, we eventually moved to a house with hardwood flloors in the living room (alot easier), but we invested in a steam cleaner for our carpets, running that every other month (for our family of 4) did the trick. or you can rent a Rug Dr. their great for cleaning carpets.

- Yes! Carpet cleaning is very safe. Many people that are allergic to certain things get their carpets cleaned on a regular basis so they do not get sick. If you are concerned about the cleaning process or the soap or chemicals they use you should call up some carpet cleaners and tell them your concerns. They are usually very friendly and helpful. :)

- Having it professionally cleaned is your best best.. Rented cleaners don t have the power to always extract all the cleaner out and it will soon get dirty and matte down again. Some carpets won t be helped by a steam clean since not all carpets have heat set fibers so a steam clean wont reset the fibers plus age and if the carpet doesn t have a matte and crush warranty it just mattes down. - Q: Okay, a its getting colder ive started rugging my horse again, but theres one slight problem. He' terrified of them. It never happened before, but for the past couple of weeks the only way i can get a rug off him is by undoing the straps and letting him spook while holding onto the rug, and then putting it on i have to have very skilled aim and try to get it on while he is running in circles.This isnt happening because this is his first year of having a rug, he has had them for all 14 years of his life, its just ridiculous, and its not like the rug is different in any way at all. Its not my method of putting on/taking off the rug either, no one at my stable can do it without him spooking. Just wondering though, is there anyway i can desensitise him to this? Or find a better way to get the rugs on and off?

- Q: I have regular rugs and the back of them keep peeling and the colors are faded. I have washed them numerous times. I have heard that people are now using memory foam rugs. What is the purpose for memory foam rugs?
- Sounds like a bad idea to me -- I presume you mean bathroom rugs. Memory foam is not very durable with heavy use and it would be wierd under a rug since it has such a slow rebound from pressure. The rug would be lumpy all of the time, leaving footprint marks wherever you walked. You also can't machine wash or machine dry foam rugs because they will break down from the heat and rough tumbling. It sounds like you like to keep them clean so that doesn not seem like it would be an acceptable option for you. Don't buy rugs with rubber coating on the back in the first place -- it always breaks down with time. If fading is a problem, stick to rugs made from synthetic fibers like acrylic polyester or olefin fibers instead of cotton or nylon. Those synthetics will retain their dye colors better. Buy good quality thick rugs with a woven fabric back or, better yet, that are reversible. I have had high quality reversible bath rugs in both polyester and in Egyptian cotton -- they have lasted beautifully for years with frequent washing and tumble drying.

- Here are a couple ideas, try them each as they are probably all stuff you have readily available to you! 1. While wearing rubber gloves, wipe the rug and see the hair form little rolls you can then pull off easily. 2. Dampen a sponge and wipe the rug gently and again, see the hair form little rolls you can pick off. 3. Using a used dryer sheet, wipe the rug and pull off the clumps of hair that accumulate. - Q: Our cat pees on our rug and we don`t know why. The main part is we can`t get the smell of the rug. We have this huge piece of tinfoil and it says that he would be scared of it and not even walk on it but he walks right over and starts biting at it. Now that the tinfoil is there he won`t pee on the tinfoil but he finds a new spot on the rug. We spray this stuff on the rug that we got from our vet but it would take like 10 bottles of it to take the pee smell off. Is there anything that you tried that takes up smell our anything you think is good to use? We are thinking off letting him be an outdoor cat so he will pee out there but we are not sure. We also have a we also have one of those squirt bottles that we filled up with water so if we catch him then we can squirt him. But we still need help!

If your cat is not fixed that could be the other reason, so as long as your cat is healthy enough getting fixed should solve that issue.
