- Q: I want to put vinyl tiles on my pre-existing ceramic tiles but in some areas there is no ceramic tiles and I need something to fill in the gap to make my floors even when I put on the vinyl tile. What should I use? Then when my floors are even how do i put my tiles?
- To make an even floor with lost or break tiles, if you are not interest to demo late floor the most wise way is to use mortal concrete for places that there's no tile and after 4 hours that concrete get to gather make a liquorish (but not too liquid like juicer concrete ) and with on broom apply all cross of the tiles to making even between the tiles (grout is always lower than tile surface) After this operation when complete concrete get dried . Apply special glue comes with tiles (Ask when you going to buy tiles) and install your tiles ,do not let adhesive get hard and install your tile fast as you can or apply adhesive just in point that you are working on .
- Q: How to choose the difference between tile types
- 1, glazed tiles Glazed tiles are the bricks of the brick surface treated by glazing. Glazed tiles according to the different materials, divided into ceramic glazed tiles and porcelain glazed tiles. Ceramic glazed tiles are made from clay, with high water absorption and relatively low strength. The main feature is that the back color is red and the porcelain glazed tiles are made from porcelain clay with low water absorption and relatively strong Higher, the main feature is the back of the color is gray. Glazed tiles are the most common brick decoration, not only rich in color, and anti-fouling ability, is widely used in wall and floor decoration.
- Q: How do the concrete on the outer wall tiles be removed?
- To introduce the decoration industry within a black technology, Naluotu diamond grinding stone. Now the decoration can be no ceramic tiles, and can be used cement diamond grinding stone and cast stone grinding stone instead of tiles, cement diamond grinding stone and the whole stone grinding stone seamless, on-site pouring, seamless no bacteria breeding, diamond grinding stone But also can release negative oxygen ions, people relaxed and happy. Seamless cement grindstone and sandstone are made of three materials: Nalut special cement mortar, armor concrete seal curing agent and defender concrete seal curing agent. Above is the full content of this time, more about the related issues, please pay attention to Nalit diamond grindstone.
- Q: Recently, my carpet got a bit singed in front of the fireplace. so, I decided to place tile in front of the fireplace. I plan to remove the carpet and the padding. what will be left is the plywood and 2x4‘s. not exactly sure if there is anything under the plywood since this was an addition and is on top of the garage, where the garage is not underground but has cinderblock walls. when my son jumps around, it kinda shakes the floor.what I need to know is if cement board has to be used. can I just place tile over plywood with the appropriate adhesive? remove plywood all together? what is the simplest method for a single momma with low funds who is not familiar with laying tile? my second inquiry is about finishing it off. I can do the grout easy enough, but what about where the tile meets the carpet? I really hate the cheap look of those metal things, but I don‘t know what other options there are except for folding (?) the carpet under (?). suggestions?thanks in advance!!
- 3/8 drill. square drivers, trowel. grout float several 5gal buckets and sponges. Buy a sheet of tile cement board. its 3/8 thick and a box of backer board screws made specifically for the tile board. it comes in 3'x5' sheets. Standard code is 18 from the edge of the fireplace. I built mine 24 because it looked better. I had to also add carpet strips around it to hold the carpet down. built that part up a bit as well and used a strip of bamboo flooring trim made to hide the transition between wood flooring and tile.
- Q: i have just bought a house and my ceiling tiles needs cleaning. i would like to know if anyone out there knows what i can use to clean them. the ceiling tiles has dust but also has mildew on some of them. i don‘t want to replace them, i just want to clean them for now. thank you everyone.
- Sarri is right, it depends on what they are made of. I had the ones that pop into a frame, they are plastic sheeting with some insulation. I took them down, I washed them with soap and water, and put them back dry. And it depends on what it is on them. If it is cig smoke, you either need dishwashing soap made for greasy dishes, or a strong cleaning solution. I used 409 on my walls. I used a swifter with pads soaked in 409 on my painted bathroom ceiling. It took a lot of scrubbing. Buy one of those soft bristle brooms meant for corners amd ceilings, those work well on the dust. The tiles in this house are porous, they seem to be made from some sort of stiff fiberboard. These I wiped off with a damp rag, bought some paint primer and gave them a nice coat, then came back with ceiling paint. They look great. And if they are badly stained, and need to be sealed, there are paints for that.
- Q: I have granite tiles I want to put on a kitchen countertop. I removed the laminate and underneath is about 1.5 thick of a particle board of some sort. The countertop is very sturdy and the board is in great shape. I know if this stuff get wet, you can have problems, but otherwise it seems to be very sturdy stuff. I know most people will say you need to put down a sheet of hardibacker, but I don‘t see the point. With a top grade thinset, these tiles will definitely adhere to the board extremely well. Grount lines will be extremely tiny and I‘m going to double seal everything with a really good sealer. I don‘t see anyway water is going to penetrate these tiles and thinset and get to the particle board. That‘s really the whole issue, right?
- I personally would rather have hardibacker. Flooring people in my house right now repairing the floor and a joist because it was not used. Not even in an area that gets a lot of water exposure. Consider how often the counter gets wet and cleaned. That may change your mind. Also, you will need to reseal this more often than the product recommendations because of the amount of wear that is involved. Granite is also pourous and can vary on the quality. I just asked the tile/granite guys that are doing my work. Said they would not recomment it in tiles - sheeted granite is a different story.
- Q: never installed it before i am putting in mold free dry wall and new fixtures. want to put up tile instead of a surround wondering how hard it is to do thanks
- this is a fairly easy job to undertake, although a little messy.Even a 1st timer can do this with a little patience, and care. 1st off you can use green board (sheetrock for wet areas) but it is not as waterproof as they say. Get some hardiboard instead. Once this is installed securely, Pop a good straight line with a bright chalk,I like red myself if using 4 tiles pop a line 4and 1/16 above the tub. (Make sure to keep starter row level ) Now your line is popped spread your glue or mastic, using a trowel with serrated edge to do so.Let the glue get tacky and then start installing your tiles (you may need spacers depending on the type tile you use. Most small tiles have a couple of slightly raised spots on each side for the space. Once all your tile is in place, let the tiles set for 24 hrs to fully cure. Now you are ready to grout ,being your 1st time I recommend premixed grout. Keep a wet sponge handy while applying grout. Make sure all joints are well filled, and sponge lightly afterward any excess so that it does not bond to tile facing. Let your grout set about 12 hrs then apply a good sealer to prevent water from penetrating grout and loosening it and your tiles, Grout is porous. Hope you understand what I am saying here, I am better at actually doing as to trying to explain
- Q: I am completely re-doing one of the bathrooms in my home and I would like to put in a stand alone tile shower. Can someone tell me what the best material to use for it would be? Ceramic, porcelin, slate, travertine, marble?? Are any better for walls/floors/wet areas than others?
- The tile isn't as important as what the tiles are mounted to. Make sure you use material specific for wet areas. as for which one to use, it would depend on which one you like, and can afford. I like the looks of bigger tiles, but would much rather install smaller tiles. Bigger tiles can be a pain when it comes to making difficult cuts.
- Q: My house has been posted on the external walls of the tile, and now dissatisfied, there is no way not to pull out, doing other good decoration If the ceramic tile and then brush the external wall paint, will not be a long time or the tide, the paint fell
- Tiles on the Tu is estimated that it is not too reliable, personal opinion can go to Taobao to see those tile film or wall stickers and the like, in fact, sometimes only need a few stickers, the appearance may feel very different, Save money is also easy to replace, quite good.
- Q: im kinda changing the tiles in my house and I need some help choosing between white horse tiles or niro granite tiles for the dining hall and toilets.Which one do you think is better? If possible can you please tell me why?it is okay if you don‘t.thanks.hope you can help me
- Hello, I assume your question is trying to distinguish the differences in the companies or the difference between ceramic and granite tiles? lol, if its regarding difference between ceramic and granite tiles I can give a little insight: ceramic tiles are usually cheaper and maybe weigh about 1/5th of the weight of granite. Granite is very hard to cut, since it is stone. Its harder to cut granite than it is to cut marble per say. Granite will last a whole lot longer and won't scuff up or crack if you drop something on it, like ceramic tile would. You have pro's and cons with both products. I have replaced floors using both tiles and although the granite tiles look better and are more classic looking, the ceramic tile is much easier to put down. Cost comparison on regular granite in the state of Georgia from Floor Decor runs about $2.00 sq foot. Where as in ceramic tile ranges from about .75 to 2.50 per foot depending on style etc... Hope this helps you with your question. As far as the two different companies I am not familiar with them. Best of luck!
