5 What's the characteristics about porcelain tiles and glazed tiles? Which one

more slippery, more aesthetically pleasing and easy to clean?

Glazed tiles are colorful, the effect is rather diverse, stain-slip, abrasion resistance but worse than the porcelain tiles. Long-term use may wear a large surface; porcelain tiles have the higher degree, long hard wear surface. Good performance and stable cleanup (before playing the best times to use the wax to improve stain resistance).

Q: i have tiles in my bathroom witch are painted(not me was like that wen i moved in) was wondering if i cud wallpaper or tile over them
Well i would highly recomend not tileing over tile. It would be harder to replace over all and im not sure if its code
Q: How to choose the difference between tile types
2, quintana bricks Quintana brick is a wear-resistant brick, the surface is not glazed, positive and negative color consistent, its color than glazed tiles. The whole body brick is widely used in the hall, aisle, outdoor walkway and other renovation projects on the ground. Nobel tiles manager told Xiaobian, in the simple plain home furnishings style, quintana brick by a specific crowd of love, more and more become a fashion. 3, polished tiles Polished brick is the surface of the whole body polished by a kind of bright brick, is a kind of quintana brick, compared to the whole body brick, the polished surface of the polished to be much cleaner, polished hard polished polished, suitable for washing in the toilet , The interior of the kitchen is used outside the interior.
Q: I am a big fan of tile in homes. I really love tile flooring and tiles in shower stalls, as it looks really nice and feels good on the feet lol. Is there any way to tell the difference between a porcelain and ceramic tile by looking at it after it is already installed? Friends of mine have tile in their kitchen on the floor, and I would like to be able to tell the difference by looking at it from an already installed view. This would also help for visiting other homes with tile, to better understand the difference in look and feel.
Porcelain indicates the type of clay used to make the tile. Ceramic incorporates all clay tiles, including porcelain. There is no way to tell unless you look at the back of the tile. They often use glass tiles in bathrooms now, too. Ask an experienced installer for tile already in place or an experienced seller of tile if you want new tile.
Q: I have a large number of tiles on the walls of the laboratory nowadays, and the whole piece of fall, years ago is normal, do not know how the matter, please answer expert!
1, if the mortar is not loose, only the tiles off, the back of the tile and the surrounding mortar scraping the net, in the 107 glue mixed with a little cement into a paste, in the back of the tile evenly coated with a thin layer , Then press the tile can be tightened. 2, if the mortar together with the tiles fall together, first in the original base surface gently chisel some pit, with a mixture of 107 glue mortar re-paste, or with cement, E-44 epoxy resin, acetone, ethylenediamine (Chemical shop available) by 5: 3: 2: 1 ratio of mix well, with a brush on the base surface brush a layer, and then peel off the tiles up until the mortar hardening.
Q: Following on from my previous question about tiles... I had asked if it's better to remove them or tile over the top. At that time, I thought they were bedded in the same stuff as the bathroom tiles were upstairs which was a very fine and compacted sandy stuff that was not set. However, after trying to remove a couple of the mosaic floor tiles in the kitchen, it seems they are bedded in the actual concrete floor itself !!! and instead of being able to remove them, it just chips the tile and breaks off the surface somewhat. They're extremely difficult to remove so: Will my new tiles be completely ok if set on top of these? can you please let me know how to prepare them and what to look out for?Height-wise it doesn't matter, I'll simply order shorter doors. I'm really concerned about the long term strength because it's a kitchen that will get a lot of use / humidity/ etc...Thank you
You can set tiles over tiles . You ll need to get a thin set that is modified to do this. Check on the back of the bag it will tell you . The price will give it away too lol.Tiles must be clean and oil free of course. The one step some people don t do that I do every time I do this. You must wait a day or two extra before going in and walking and grouting these tiles. The thin set needs extra drying time since moisture in thin set can t go any where. If your doing it your self no problem. If some one else does it ask them to do it on a friday and grout on monday. Or if that can t be worked out , have them do it and possible go do another small job and come back in a couple days to do it. Any questions you can e mail me GL
Q: Now very popular tile 80X80 pink above the tea stains, how can effectively remove the tea stains?
With toothpaste, my home cleaning tea stains are used toothpaste
Q: Cleaning tiles is a lot of work because they attract mildew, soap scum, etc. Now that the cleaning and scrubbing is done, what‘s next? What‘s an easy and environment-friendly way to maintain tiles? Also, if you have a suggestion for keeping a bathtub clean, that would be appreciated as well. Thanks!
Always wipe off excess water after you bathe or shower. You can use a wash cloth and wipe off the water from the tiles. Buy a spray bottle and fill 90% water, 10% vinegar. Spray all the tiles in the shower/bath area with the water/vinegar once a week and let dry. The vinegar will not harm the grout or tiles and will eliminate mildew from growing. Bleach would be good for cleaning the tub but its not environmentally friendly. Try water/vinegar and steel wool to get the stains out. Then once a week water/vinegar and wipe clean.
Q: IAM REDOING MY KITCHEN FLOOR. IS PEEL STICK TILE GOOD FOR THE PROJECT N WILL IT LAST? THANKS
For most things, in general, you get what you pay for. If you buy the peel and stick tile because it is cheap, then you will have a cheap job. It never sticks as good as the manufacturer says it does. It shows ALL imperfections in the underlying floor surface. You will get goop in the areas between tiles, no matter how well you lay it. It really isn't worth it at all. I did a bathroom and kitchen area in an old house using peel stick tile, and it looked good for about a month, then it turned to crap quickly. I'd suggest either using ceramic tile or a single sheet of linoleum flooring. Good luck.
Q: The house to decorate the floor in the choice of headache, wooden floor generous and beautiful, but will rot, will be deformed, have to resist termites; and tiles no problem, but now many people use wooden floor, personal really do not know how to choose The Is there any friend who can give professional advice?
Wood flooring is divided into solid wood flooring, parquet and laminate flooring; tile is what we say floor tiles. Wood floors and tiles, each with advantages and disadvantages, you can from the following angles to contrast Practicality: 1. home will often have guests access, or whether the family has the habit of wearing slippers, after all, relatively contrast with the floor tile and wear and cleaning; 2. Whether there will be a very tide in the year, no matter what the wooden floor, tidal weight will be deformed or corroded, but the degree is different, but if the tile is not anti-skid but also consider whether the elderly or children, easy wrestling ; 3. indoor light how strong, light can be considered non-reflective wood flooring, light can be considered weak light color tiles. Decorative: Combined with the living room in the walls, ceiling, furniture overall consideration. Such as wall wood structure more, and are wood-style paste, or furniture style classical, with the floor color will see some of the harmony. For example, if it is hard line style, or color to black and white, can be considered with tiles and so on. Economy: If the economy can bear the words, or home with the elderly and children, you can choose private space such as the bedroom floor solid wood flooring, warm, good foot feeling, but the solid wood flooring prices are high, take care of a little trouble. Followed by all the pavement of wood flooring, so warm and comfortable, take care is also simple.
Q: I found answers about laying tile and a backer board over linoleum I didn‘t know if they would be the same. What would cause tile to crack if it‘s places directly on concrete?
If a homeowner asked me to lay any kind of tile other than vinyl over the top of vinyl I would not warranty anything. The non vinyl tile will be adhered extremely well with the thinset to the vinyl tile, however, the vinyl tile, while it's stuck to the concrete, does have movement. If the sub floor moves something in the thinset, grout or porcelain/ceramic tile will have to give. If the thinset gives your tiles will come loose. If the grout gives you will spend the next 15 years replacing grout once a month. If the tile gives you will have cracks in the surface of the tile that creates a sharp edge to cut your feet on. Or a combination of the three. You must remove the vinyl. You can purchase a removal tool at Home Depot for a couple bucks. You can also get a day laborer that you will have to watch but will do the work for you for probably $75 or so. Once you have the tiles up and the floor cleaned (you don't have to be neurotic about the cleaning as the thinset will float over some things on the concrete) you'll need to inspect for cracks in the concrete. If there are cracks you'll need to purchase a crack mitigation kit. You can find them in the tile section of Home Depot. You'll need the package as well as the primer. There are instructions on the package but basically you cut the stuff to fit with a utility knife. Paint the primer on the floor and let dry as per instructions. Paint on the glue and lay the material over the glue. Let dry as per instructions and you're ready to tile with no worries about cracking tile.
