Q: I heard that ceramic tiles absorb water and we have ceramic tile in the downstairs bedroom. After I wash the tile floor how long do I wait until I can move our dressers and furniture back on the tile? Because once I bring in the dressers I don‘t think the tiles will have a chance to dry because it is fully covered by the dressers, right?
it depends on the ventilation in the room tiles will dry quickly because they do NOT absorb water
Q: I‘m redecorating the bathrooms of my town house. I want to tile the one wall in the shower with small blue Mosaic tiles, and the rest of the bathroom with plain white tiles. As it‘s a very small en-suite, I‘m thinking o
Mosaic tiles can add a lot of variety and interest into a bathroom. A mixture of blues is suitable and your decision to keep the other areas white is also correct. I am assuming the fittings will also be white colour. But, if you are planning to cover only one part of a wall where it is against the shower, it might not look right. (unless the wall you are referring to is the wide side of the shower and it is also the full width of the bathroom) it is best to either use it on all three sides of the shower or in one full wall of the bathroom.
Q: what are the pros and cons of having a ceramic tiled floor and a vinyl floor? house is in renovation.
Tile will add more value, but will feel colder unless you have it heated from below. Vinyl's cheaper (not by much though since it's a petroleum product), feels softer warmer underfoot. However, it can tear crack easier than tile. Tile can crack, but not easily. How about hardwoods?? They can go in every room, it's green, easy to care for, adds value to your home. Consider doing tile in the baths hardwood everywhere else.
Q: Ok so our bathroom is old and crappy and the faucet in the shower always come off. I was taking a shower and when i went to put back the body wash it fell and must have landed on the faucet and the faucet came off and two tiles along with it. The tiles are broken into little pieces. My mom is gonna be mad but it wasn‘t even my fault im so scared =(
confirm to word it wisely once you tell your mom: the faucet fell and pulled off 2 tiles. whether you dropped the physique wash on the faucet (and you're not sure which you probably did; each and every from time to time the faucet merely comes off), you probably did no longer do something incorrect. It grew to become into an twist of destiny, and completely commonplace considering physique wash is meant to make your hands slippery! for sure it is going to fall often times--that's why it relatively is in a plastic bottle. it relatively is obtrusive the faucet and tiles want paintings. no person has executed something approximately it so some distance, the two considering you're all procrastinating, or because of the fact it relatively is a apartment residing house and no-one desires to take a place funds in maintenance. there is an old asserting that a stitch in time, saves 9. In different words, whilst some thing desires fixing, the longer you wait, the bigger and worse the interest will become. in case you hire your place, your mom ought to record the difficulty to the owner and ask to have it fastened.
Q: My foyer and hallway is white tile with white grout. I am more vintage/traditional and was going to be using new grout. Are there any other colors besides white that will look good for the grout?
One thing to consider when selecting grout for light colored tiles - try to avoid grout colors that are white, or close to white. These light colored shades are also difficult to keep clean for obvious reasons. As an alternative to matching light colored tiles, consider such grout colors as light browns, tans, or shades of gray. In addition to being less difficult to clean, these colors are lass prone to discoloration or yellowing over the lifetime of the tile and grout. Whatever you do, when selecting tile grout, just keep these couple of simple things in mind. Color can have a big impact of the cleanability of a grout. Select unsanded grouts if tile gaps are 1/8 of an inch or less. For other information about Grout you can check my source site
Q: i was wondering if it would be a good idea to use patio tiles or something similar as flooring for a bearded dragon tank, im thinking of getting one but there are a lot of different opinions on what to put on the floor for them, i thought of patio tiles, as theyre originally from rocky areas and they cant caause impation, if it isnt a good idea please offer alternitivesthnx:)x

Q: To any DIY‘ers out there! My kitchen has a white tile backsplash and these decorative fruit motifs here and there. (you remember that trend?)There are only eight of them strategically placed, but I‘d really prefer that there were none, and just the plain white like the rest of the tiles. I can‘t really aford to retile the whole backsplash right now, so my question is .. Is there an effective way to cover them or paint them?
Absolutely! okorder / And here's a link for ceramic tile paint: If you find that painting is just too much work, you may want to consider going to Home Depot or Rona. They have these new funky stickers made to stick directly over ceramic tiles... and they last! Not as long as painting, but it will tide you over unitl you redo the backsplash in ceramic or whatever..... Have you considered the new metal tiles you can get now? If you want some info on metal tiles, just email me.
Q: I have a very outdated bathroom with pink tile covering just about every wall. I love to do DIY projects but can‘t afford to replace the tile. I can however afford to paint it. I read up on it and found the paint directions but don‘t want the end result to look tacky. Has anyone done this and liked the results?
I had probably the same tile in my bathroom. It was half way up all walls and around the tub.. When I moved in (5 years ago), I cleaned, primed with original Kilz, and painted 2 coats of Zinsser Perma White paint in a satin finish. After 5 years and at least 3-5 showers a day, I have had to touch up a couple spots. You can definately tell it has been painted with a brush and roller, I think it looks a lot less tacky than pink tiles.
Q: 20cm x 20cm uses 5 whole tiles, 4 half tiles, and 4 quarter tiles. Describe a method for calculating how many tiles of each type you needs for larger square tabletops.
Total tiles = 5 * (4/4) + 4 * (2/4) + 4 * (1/4) = (20 + 8 + 4) / 4 = 32 / 4 whole tile equivalents = 8 whole tile equivalents We can conclude that since 20 x 20 = 400 = 8 whole tile equivalents the area of one whole tile is 400/8 = 50 sq cm So we take the dimensions of the table, a * b, and divide by 50 to find out how many whole tile equivalents we'll need. How many whole, half, and quarter tiles will be needed depends on the shape of the table and the exact dimensions of both the table and the tiles. The tiles might be any of these sizes: 5 x 10 cm 4 x 12.5 cm 8 x 6.25 cm or some other numbers as long as the product is 50 sq cm.
Q: I just remodeled a home and I am having a hard time cleaning the newly istalled tile. I mop and mop but the tile still looks dirty. I guess its all the powder and sand that was created by the remodeling. Am I supposed to use some type of acid or buffer?
Sometimes when tile is installed and the water that was use to shape the joints and remove the excess grout is not changed as often as it should have been, this leaves a bloom on the tile surface. It is THIS (thin haze of grout residue) that is actually dirty not the tile. You must remove this and all will be well. Use a VERY, VERY, VERY,VERY light mixture of muriatic acid and water and clean the entire tile surface. Read and follow cautions on product label
