5. What's the characteristics about porcelain tiles and glazed tiles?
Glazed tiles are colorful, the effect is rather diverse, stain-slip, abrasion resistance but worse than the porcelain tiles. Long-term use may wear a large surface; porcelain tiles have the higher degree, long hard wear surface. Good performance and stable cleanup (before playing the best times to use the wax to improve stain resistance). The porcelain tiles are weaker performance in non-slip than glazed tiles. We should take attention on its anti-slip properties, face down in a tiled brick water testing.
- Q: we have about 500 sq feet of tile in our house and want to put carpet over it. the tile is not finished in the hallway tho, does that matter? and do you know an approximate cost for ripping the tile out? like $1,000+? $2,000+?thank you!
- Ceramic tile? (As opposed to vinyl). If its ceramic, then it really isnt that hard to remove, and shouldnt be that expensive. Ask your carpet installer if he can do it. I had about 400 sq ft.of ceramic tile removed, and laminate flooring put down, and they did it all in one day. If you put carpet over ceramic tile, you will feel a lip where it is not finished. If its vinyl tile, then dont remove it - just go over it. The height difference would be negligible.
- Q: How to calculate the loss of tiles
- Number of wall tiles algorithm: 800 tiles Square number * 1.6 + 1 ~ 2 = quantity (plus loss) 600 tiles Square number * 2.78 + 1 ~ 2 = quantity (plus loss) Toilet kitchen ground Specifications: 300 * 300 square number * 11 + 1 ~ 2 = quantity (plus loss) Bathroom kitchen wall tiles Specifications: 300 * 450 square number * 7.4 + 1 ~ 2 = quantity (plus loss) Specifications: 300 * 600 square number * 5.5 + 1 ~ 2 = quantity (added loss) Specifications: 250 * 330 square number * 12 + 1 ~ 2 = quantity (plus loss Waistline Specifications: 30 * 30 weeks long * 3.3 * 5.5 = quantity (plus loss) Under normal circumstances we still have to look at the specific size of the number of units to calculate the loss of these generally when you buy tiles when the Purchasing Guide will be specific for your account
- Q: After completing a bathroom tile job, including a tile baseboard border about 6 up from the floor, we have dried thinset in on the actual wall - places we missed during cleanup. I‘ve tried using some scrapers (plastic and metal), and the dried thinset is like concrete (naturally) and is pulling layers of drywall off with it. Is there a solvent or better way to remove the dried thinset from both the wall and the exposed rim of the tiles? As a last resort I might be okay with slight damage to the walls as they need serious prep anyway before paint, but I do want to make sure i haven‘t missed some very obvious, easier, better solution first.
- muriatic acid - at home crappot or lowe's
- Q: She worked at a steady rate after the first day.Use an equation in point-slope form to determine how many days Lizzy took to place all of the 100 tiled needed to finish the floor,
- She laid 5 tiles the first day, and 10 tiles each day thereafter: x = number of days Lizzy has worked laying tiles Total Tiles = 5 + 10(x-1)] Test this equation with the information you are given: 35 = 5 + 10(4 - 1) = 5 + 10(3) = 5 + 30 = 35 <<<<< TRUE So, now you can solve the problem. However, it is unclear to me whether Lizzy needs to lay 100 MORE tiles, or 100 tiles, total.... 100 = 5 + 10(x - 1) 100 = 5 + 10x - 10 100 - 5 + 10 = 10x 105 = 10x 10.5 = x It takes Lizzy 10.5 days to lay 100 tiles. 135 = 5 + 10(x - 1) 135 = 5 + 10x - 10 135 - 5 + 10 = 10x 140 = 10x 14 = x It takes Lizzy 14 days to lay 135 tiles.
- Q: I have travertine tile in my bathroom that apparently wasn‘t sealed properly. Now it has water stains that are visible when viewed from an angle. It‘s ugly and I can‘t get rid of them. Any suggestions?
- Does the tile feel a little rough where you see the stains? The tile may have been etched by acid like effect of low-pH water (like acid rain does) or from the use of alkaline or acidic cleaners and soap scum removers. Most of the popular cleaners will break down the sealer layer and damage stone tile surfaces. Ideally one should use a non-abrasive, pH-neutral cleaner that is specially formulated for natural stone materials. There is a chance that you could use a polishing powder or compound like MB-11, which you can find out more about at the websites listed below. However, there is also a big chance that you will do more damage to the tile. It might be worth trying to remove the stains/etching in some inconspicuous area on the floor before you use it right out in the middle where damage will be easily seen. If that doesn't work then it may be time to call in a flooring restoration specialist to do the job.
- Q: i had my floor tiled a few years ago...they had used black grout between white tile and put my island back...just had island moved and there are black stains on the white tiles...can they come out...and how???
- White Tiles Black Grout
- Q: the tiles are laid down using thinset cement. Mastic not used.
- Try using a putty knife, holding it flat on the ground and working it gently under and around the edges of the tile, applying very little pressure upward, the tile should snap off in one piece.
- Q: We recently remodeled our kitchen and are now ready to apply something between the counter and wall cabinets. We are thinking of tile. Our cabinets are a light oak. The counters are a marble looking blend of grey, blue, beige. Our appliances are beige. What color tile would look nice for this? Also, could you use 12x12 tile vs 4x4 or the smaller tile or is smaller tile better? We currently have unpainted drywall. Can you install tile with drywall behind? Or do you need that other type of backing?
- you can put tile on drywall, no-prob! prime it first to make it water-proof. i use pro-block. here is a link to help you with colors. have fun!
- Q: Meaning, I was just wondering if you can lay a thin set of mortar then place vinyl tiles on it, and then grout it? This mabye a stupid question and most people would say why not just use real tile if your going to go through all that trouble, but just wondering?.Thanks
- Vinyl tile you use glue. Some have the glue adhesive on the back, some you have to put the glue down your self with a 1/8 or 3/16 trowel. And like the other person stated they are very thin, meaning if you did try and set them in mortar and one little piece of mortar didn't mix good after a few weeks of use and maybe not that long that will create a lump and eventually ware through your vinyl. Don't even think about being able to grout. Now I have used glue with ceramic tile in certain cases. I don't recommend that either though. I use liquid nails or a pl 400 type glue in a tube to do risers on a stairway but the treads I used mortar. If you go to Home depot or Lowe's and pick out what type of flooring they should be able to lead you in the right direction on the glue vs mortar. good luck. you can do it
- Q: i don‘t even know how to explain what i want to ask.. but here i go....how do you make sure they come out straight. i know how to lay them but how do you make sure the second row comes out straight at the other end. I guess i need help lining them. chalk line will help but how do i do it. is there a website or video that may help me. ((( i lay down the first row along the chalk straight line. i then lay down one half tile at the end of the first tile row. then i continue with the full tile so i can get a staggered look. but how do i make sure that the second row is dead on? help if you can thanks. also if you have any other advice for laying staggered floor tile let me know. thanks.20x20 Porcelain floor tile.
