Q: I‘m tiling a bathroom counter and have all my supplies but not sure I purchased the right trowel. I purchased a square-notched trowel 1/4x1/4x1/4. What is the difference between this one and the one I see commonly used on tv and on other tiling jobs...the razor tooth edge type?
I tile every day of my life, and I want to assume these Stone Tiles are at least Milled flat on one side, though if they are RAW, not production glazed, I wouldn't be using them on a counter top. I also don't always use 1/4 inch mortar beads on counter tops, often choosing 1/8, (In the same Tool you purchased). Floor tiles yes, always. That's just a personal choice and not a Law set in stone (no pun intended). You have the correct tool for Thinset. The saw edge applicators, are usually used for mastics/Adhesive tile setting materials, which are also, often used for counter tops, Not very practical for tile or stone. Steven Wolf just my two sense
Q: I want to replace the existing ugly linoleum/vinyl floor in my bathroom with tile. With the right information and tools, I don‘t see why I can‘t do it myself. Any ideas on the pros and cons of different types of tile? What‘s least likely to get scratched, and what is least likely crack and need to be replaced? Which is easiest to clean, etc.? I‘m not crazy about a rough feel or look to the tile. So, I‘m thinking of glazed ceramic or polished stone. Also, my bathroom is very small. I wouldn‘t need to use more than 35-40 square feet of tile. Do you think 12x12 size tiles would look too big? Any tips or suggestions will be appreciated!
There are some quite nice ceramic styles but for the classy look you desire i think it can only be acheived with natural stone/marble. it is true that marble can stain as it is porus but if it is sealed correctly it should be ok, but you need to polish and reseal every few years to prevent staining. i fit bathrooms for a living and have taken out marble that is 15 years old that only looks tired because the choice of colour has dated not because of staining etc. but believe me stone looks so much better , go to your local tops tiles and look at the displays of ceramic tile then go to the stone tile show room just to browse and i think you will 'feel' the difference. good luck and i hope the bathroom turns out nice.
Q: i‘m thinking about laying my own tile. ( this way i could save $2700) yeah, i know its a pain int he butt. BUT i‘m still going to do it because i like doing my own work. I‘m laying down 24x24 tiles. do you have any advice or secrete or techniques to offer? its a straight edge tile so i was thinking about using no spacers. I was also told to spread thinset on the tile in addition to the cement floor.
27 hundred dollars? What the hell are ya going to tile, a football field?..Ok, first I would think twice about not using spacers but that's up to you.. When you buy the tile check for the size notched trowel that's recommended and use it on the concrete floor and flat butter the back of the tile, and use a rubber mallet to tap it firm.
Q: How many square meters of tiles (wall) (Tiles) multiple?
Specifications are not the same size is not the same weight Asked I'm talking about a square meter
Q: Used 600x300 glazed tile for the whole outdoor building. 30% tile gum and cement mixed for the work. 6 months later, the Tiles begun to fall off the wall leaving the cement still strongly bonded on the wall. I mean, the tiles ONLY fall donw, not with the cement. Note: We usually soak SOME ceramic tile with water before pasting them, IF the type call for that. But the type is apparently out of the case of water solution.Granite is even heavier than that and yet lasts virtually with building.
Outdoor Wall Tiles
Q: does anyone know what the most affordable nice tile flooring is? i was watching a tv show that was using slate for less than a dollar a sq ft. i cant seem to find that anywhere.. but im re-doing my kitchen and would love suggestions! no laminate or wood im really aiming for tile. thanks!
If you happen to have a Habitat for Humanity Restore near you, they (or at least the one near me) usually have lots of unused tile that you can buy for a low price. Just an idea.
Q: I laid some ceramic tile about 6 years ago in a family room. There are some tile that sound hallow, Like they did not set in the adhesive securely. Nothing else is wrong with the tile, but it does sound hallow when you walk on it. I laid the tile on a concrete slab. How would you go about fixing this? I thought of drilling a small hole in the center of the tile and spraying some liquid insulation (that you put around windows) and grouting the hole closed with some grout the same color as the tile.
Remove the grout from around the tiles in question. Using a stiff scraper, gently work it under the tile. Remove tile and clean both the floor area and back of tile. Vacuum and thin-set both floor and back of tile. reset and grout after about 12 hours curing time.
Q: I have a kitchen that currently has 20X20 tile The kitchen has 40 tilesWhat is the square feet of the kitchen?
to determine the square footage of your kitchen, it might be easier to measure the length and the width of your room and then multiply it....for instance if you have a kitchen which is 10ft X 15 ft.....the square footage is 150 sq. feet.....
Q: Chengdu tiles wholesale market
To Chengdu North Gate Fusen home near the days of Hong Kong and Tai Wan two building materials market to see Well, where the business are all before the dragon, white lotus and 512 after the demolition of the market after the move, are doing wholesale, Guangdong brick brick Jiajiang brick have.
Q: A rectangular area can be completely tiled with 200 square tiles. If the side length of each tile was increased by 1 cm, it would take only 128 tiles to tile the area. Find the side length of each tile.
here goes... Conceptually, if you knew the area of the rectangle was, say 5000cm squared, and you knew that the length of the tile was, say 5cm, then you would know that the number of tiles necessary would be (5000cm sqrd)/5^2 = 5000/25 = 200 tiles. Using this conceptual knowledge, we can set up equations to answer this question. Let A represent the area of the rectangle to be tiled (this is a constant in this question, we just need to give it a label here) Let x represent the length of the original square tile. We know from the question the following: A / (x^2) = 200 tiles rearrange for A = 200(x^2) This is Equation 1. The question says that if the length increases by 1cm (i.e. x+1) then only 128 tiles are needed, so A / [(x+1)^2] = 128 tiles rearrange for A = 128(x+1)^2 This is Equation 2. Substitute Equation 1 into Equation 2 and solve for x! So the first step is: 200(x^2) = 128(x+1)^2 ---> divide both sides by 8 25(x^2) = 16(x+1)^2 You might be tempted at this point to expand and collect like terms, but you'd end up with an equation with which it appears difficult to solve for x. Here however, you should notice that all parts of this equation are very easily square rooted...so, square root both sides to simplify and solve for x: sqrt [25(x^2)]= sqrt[16(x+1)^2] 5x = 4(x+1) 5x = 4x + 4 x = 4 Therefore the side length of each tile is 4 cm. Of course, you can check your answer by plugging it into any of the equations above, and making sure that the left side of the equation acutally does equal the right side!
