Q:tiles at the top of my pool have fallen off, these tiles are in the water. what is best or suggested adhesive to reinstall them?
Pool Tile Adhesive
Q:are tiles get really dirty fast and i tried everything and i cant get them to stay white could i use bleach?
Get a product called Black Magic. It's a bleach-like spray that works good on mildew. Follow the directions
Q:We have recently had our bathroom refitted, and tiled floor to ceiling with large ceramic tiles in a brick pattern. However now finished it is obvious that they are uneven. The tiler said it is the tiles. Is this likely or is it just a bodged job - he re-platerboarded the walls prior to tiling so they should be flat?
From what I understand, I'd install either waterproof drywall or regular which you can then seal. You can shim the drywall out where the gap is with furring strips. This will give you a straight surface to put your tile on. This assumes the drywall butts into a corner. You can't put tile on an uneven surface as it just magnifies the unevenness. You might be able to put a molding on to cover the gap. That sounds the easiest and cheapest. Take a picture and show it to some one at a tile store or at a hardware store and they might be able to help.
Q:It‘s been a while since I have done tile, but I remember we used to use sheetrock to cover the floor or for back splash wall, however I don‘t remember what it was used for. Is there special cases when you need to use it or do I need to use it every time? What is the purpose to use the sheetrock? Please help. Thanks.
It may have been sheetrock that you remember but more than likely it was some type of special backer product that resembled Sheetrock but was made specifically for use under tile. There are several types available at Lowe's like hardibacker or durarock. Both of these products are designed to be placed on the surface to be tiled before the tile is applied and act to stiffen the substrate. In other words they make the surface that the tile goes onto into one big solid piece as opposed to several sheets of plywood. The benefit of this is that is keeps the tiles from moving in relation to each other which will cause the grout lines in between them to crack and gap. These products are generally put down, when tiling floors, on top of a layer of mortar same as you spread mortar to hold the tiles down. Ans then these backer boards are nailed down with roofing nails and the joints are mortared and usually taped like drywall joints are. Then more mortar is spread on top of these boards and the tile is set into this mortar. Floors generally use the 1/4 thick backer board and when applying on walls the 1/2 backer is used. Just nail to the studs and paint with a waterproofing paint then mortar and apply tiles. Good Luck.
Q:Why should a piece of tile stickers, why can not once on the ground to do a piece of tiles
A piece of easy to break is how to get the room? If a little bit how to do a piece of words can be changed
Q:What is the standard water absorption of tiles?
National standard: porcelain brick water absorption E ≤ 0.5%, ceramic brick water absorption E> 10% The water absorption of the tiles refers to the percentage of the weight of the inhaled water after the mouth of the product is filled with water. It can directly describe the density of the product and affect the moisture resistance of the product. So you may wish to live on the spot when the test tile water absorption, can be a cup of 150 ml of water poured on the back of the tile, after 3 seconds, if the water will all penetrate the brick, then the tiles of water absorption faster Rate E> 10%, then it also shows the quality of the tile is poor. Therefore, the home improvement to choose the water absorption of the tiles, because the lower the water absorption of tiles, tile on behalf of the inherent stability of the higher.
Q:Ok the room is 12X16 thats 192 square foot right? well each box of tile is 30 square foot how many boxes would i need
I would figure about 15% waste/breakage/discoloration. So my math would go 12*16=192+15%=220sqft/30=7.33boxes It really depends on the layout of the room and if your going to have a lot of cuts, to either center your layout on a door etc. Buy eight boxes, so you don't get almost done and come up short and have to run back to the store and get more. If you have an un-broken box you should be able to return it.
Q:I purchased a DIY tile backsplash kit which costs originally $134.00. Kit includes 15 sq feet of tile, grout and tools needed to install. Lowe‘s sells the kit. The problem is the color is not the color I need. So I have this bright idea to paint the tile the color I want. I only paid $40.00 for the kit. I called one of the paint suppliers and they told me a spray paint I could use for the glass tile, however, I am afraid tha after I paint the tile, install it and then add the grouting, it may take the paint off!. I don‘t know, if it would or not. I was thinking I could spray polyurethan over the tile before I grout it or would that work? Not sure what to do. This kit is a new method for putting up a backsplash in your kitchen. It is actually peel and stick and then you must grout within 2 hours.
confusing step research with yahoo or google that will might help
Q:The bottom row of tiles on my roof are loose.Depending on the weather(wind) I have to move the tiles back every 3 weeks as they are slipping down. How do I fix this without ripping up all the tiles just to nail down this one row?I do not have a gutter.
Take a length of galvanized wire bend a hook on the end pass under fixed tile above the loose tile And turn to hook up at top Put loose tile back bend wire up at bottom to hold in place. It works with slates so should work with tiles
Q:Can you put ceramic tile over the commercial grade hard plastic vinyl tile? It would be really hard to break up off the floor. It is stuck on there really good.
Technically this is not the best way to do it, but I did this at my last house and it was a hell of lot easier then tearing up the floor and having to put boards underneath and then tile. I would recommend just tiling the vinyl if the floor is 100% level.
