- No, you cannot regulate voltage AND current at the same time. In your example, you apply a regulated 5 volts to the motor, and measure the current drawn, under load. It should be close to 20 amps. What you need are regulated DC power supplies to cover the range of the motors you are interested in. A regulated voltage supply with a current limit will do fine. Regulated AC supplies are more difficult, but I think all you need is an adjustable supply, for example, by use of an adjustable transformer (Variac) and other transformers to change the voltage, again, to the voltages of interest to you. .

- If I were you I would get a good surge protector and UPS, or uninterruptable power supply. Make sure the surge protector is a quality unit. Actually, I would buy an Isobar surge protector as most UPS units don't have this type of protection. Many are only designed to provide power, not protection. They are good units with real protection. I would then plug the UPS into that. The Isobar will stop surges and spikes (they are different things), and the UPS will protect your equipment from the sudden shut downs and start ups from the loss of power.

- When you turn off modern Tvs from the remote, it will go to standby mode, there's still electricity on the circuit enough for the memory to remember your settings, like volume, time, the channel you've last watch before turning it off. When you turn off the switch from the wall or unplugging it, the Tv is now completely disconnected from the power source. You may loose personal settings, and when you plug it back on then it may function in the default settings. Leaving it plugged has advantages but surge, lighting, sudden voltage changes may damage it. So when you'll be out for days then unplug it from the AC outlet to play safe.

- The lines are mostly copper or aluminum for the wires themselves. The towers are steel. They would last for decades easily. But lines that run from transformers to homes or neighborhoods could fail earlier. Look at what happens with ice storms in New England. Substations and transformers would last quite long also. But the power stations would last for anywhere from hours to weeks, depending on the degree of automation, and on chance. .
- Q:I just recently bought a router that was recommended to me, Linksys WRT160N V3. I followed all the steps to connect and it works. the problem is (and i measured) i walked 34 3/16 feet away into my room and boom. no connection, and my laptop, nor my ps3 can find the router. the only thing in the way of my router and my equipment is 2 walls and a bathroom (yes a small apartment). did i buy a crappy router or is there a way to increase the range for this particular model, because i feel like i got ripped off. thanks for the help.Also i was thinking of maybe getting netgear instead, everyone else seems to think it's good i just don't have the cash. thanks for the help.
- If your router is less than a year old there will be no charge. Call Linksys tech support. I am not familiar with that Linksys router. I have the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router With SpeedBooster Model: WRT54GS Wired or Wireless Network Adaptor Vender: CISCO I use my laptop outside at least 500 feet away with no problem.
