I also doubt your claim of 4% efficiency. That strength solar panel is brand new technology (this year) and is not available in retail sizes yet. You probably got duped by some false marketing... In any case; even assuming you had a 4% solar panel, there are too many things for us to give you an accurate assessment of the power production. Clouds, location on earth, season, angle of the solar panel; these are all things we need to know to calculate it. Odds are it should have the average rate it produces electricity written on the back panel or with the instructions that came with it. I know of no solar panel retailers that do not also offer free installation. You should get your money back or get that free installation (and then you never have to worry about how much power it has, it just gets you what it can).
Q:So I want to power one of my car fans with some solar panels. I ordered quite a few and I want to power one of my fans under the hood. I've already disconnected the fan and pulled it out of the car to test it later.What all do I need besides the panels, fan, and wiring to make this work. This fan will not be tied to any other system. Currently, the fan is not operated by the car or any system of the car due to a modification made to the automobile allowing me to disconnect it from use months ago.Using the fan powered from the solar panels would help with the modification to increase air flow and speed into the area.Could someone please help me by telling me what else I need to make the fan operational from here?
You may not like it, but the answer's still the same. A car fan will draw anything from a few to several hundred watts, depending on which fan you're talking about (A/C, ventilation, cooling). A solar array will take up roughly one square meter to generate 00 Watts with the sun shining straight down onto it, so you'll need to cover (more or less) the entire roof (or hood) with solar cells in order to power that fan (minimum). If you still want to go ahead: Solar panels, Fuse, cables. Preferrably one cut-out diode per panel (in addition to the hopefully present internal diodes in the panels) in order to prevent one panle dumping its load into the next instead of into the fan. Much better option: get a low power fan (e.g a slow running computer fan) and connect it to that panel of yours. These fans make do with about 0 Watts (at a much lower air throughput), so you'll actually have a chance of running it from the solar panel without coverig your car in panels.

You will need help with this. Panels may or may not be 24 volt. If you can find a name tag, you can find out from the manufacturer's web site. Some folks hook them all in parallel. Mine are in series, to create 480 volts. the reason for going to higher voltage is to reduce power loss in the wiring. Even then, I used a wire size larger than recommended. The frames want to be interconnected, and wired to ground. The live conductors connect through disconnect switches to an inverter. The inverter is sized to the output of the panels. Where the utility allows net metering, the inverters are connected through a disconnect switch to the grid, which of course also feeds the house. Assuming you are on the grid, you will not need batteries. If outages severely impact you, you can have batteries. Counting against them is that they are costly, and use part of the power you generate, just to keep them charged. If you have batteries, it is usually best to rewire circuits so noncritical circuits are disconnected during outages. Leaving perhaps minimal lighting, fridge, freezer and critical medical circuits. Learn all you can from the Internet (try solar panels), and from the green search box above. Be sure to see if your state has a rebate program, and the conditions which it requires.

Set the output voltage to 9V and use the 2V cigarette socket outlet, and plug the airline adaptor cable in. Can you simply use an AC inverter? Not direct from the solar panel... a solar panel is not able to drive an inverter. But you could plug an AC inverter into a solar storage battery pack if it is designed to support inverters. BUT, an inverter will waste 20-30% of your power in the conversion to AC which your laptop will be converting back to DC anyway, so best to stick to DC and save your solar investment from the losses. Summary... 0 Watts of solar per hour of laptop use (May-Sep) 50 Watt-Hours of solar battery storage per hour of laptop use Use a solar battery pack with appropriate output voltages built-in, and avoid AC inverters. This is probably a longer answer than you were expecting, but knowledge is power. Cheers.
Q:Hey i am going to build a scale model house and demonstrate how you would use solar panels to provide energy. I am thinking of buying some kit solar panels and wiring up some lights to show how they power the home. Also i might hook up a battery in the house to show how you can store the energy. I might also have a large battery hooked up outside the house to represent a power plant that could provide emergency power. Any ideas or comments would be great. Thanks
you have the right idea, but forget about so many batteries cause solar power replaces them. get some small solar motors and use them for ceiling fans, try some small xmas light in a box behind a picture to look like a tv screen, use the small solar motor to demo an exercise bike and use a 00 watt or better light bulb to power your solar cells in place of the sun. that would demo the idea best without the use of batteries. i really hates batteries, but i love me some solar. i am a solar engineer and i think that light is the most amazing element in our universe. solar energy was the first source of power on earth and it will be the last. oh, did i mention that it is also so very very free. in fact, solar energy is so free that one can not even buy a handful of it and one can not even steal a pocket full of it. aint that something to think about and to post on your project just for a fun fact!!
Q:Is it possible for a 2V rated panel to charge a bank of batteries equal to around 36V? I believe that the panels should equal or exceed the voltage of the batteries but, I'm not for certain.
With a 2 volt power source (solar panel, battery charger, vehicle charging system, etc...) you can charge three 2 volt batteries in parallel circuits then switch to a series circuit through a series/parallel switch to get 36 volts output. I've done this with my electric scooter so I can charge it with my pickup through the lighter socket when I'm away from home. It works great! When at home I just leave the switch in the 36 volt position, plug the charger in the wall receptacle and the charger puts out 36 volts. Actually 2 volt lead acid batteries have 2.6 volts when fully charged so the charging source has an output of 3.6 to 4.2 volts to effect a complete charge. In the series circuit the fully charged batteries would put out 37.8 volts so the charger would have an output of 40.8 to 42.6 volts.
