FAQ
- how long till a 50 watt solar panel pays itself off in buffalo, ny if its $500. i have national grid and heres the link to the rates. i am residential.
- I have a small system and do not make enough to sell back (no batteries) so it was less than 7 years BUT when you are talking about putting the initial in to a high yield div account and comparing it then I would say it took only 4 years to pay for because I was invested like many others with the capital it would have taken to get a large system and that investment LOST money while my solar pays for itself every year bit by bit. With systems now more efficient and rebates bigger and the investment alternatives not any better it is an easy choice.
- Is there a small solar panel system that I can put in my bedroom window and charge my phone and run an alarm clock off of? Or one I can run a microwave off of?
- Yeah they have them to charge phones but to use a microwave you would have to use one to charge a 2 volt battery with them from there an inverter . You could probably get a system like that for around $50 or so off OKorder . Don't get me wrong solar panels do cost allot but for what you want it for just to run a microwave isn't going to cost you all that much . Just go to OKorder and look for solar phone charger and get an idea of what you want . Thumb up for Sam above me . People just think everything is expensive because they put no effort in there shopping .
- What is a good sight that I could go to about installing solar panels and all of the considerations of it?
- Just okorder
- Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of saltwater exposure. However, it is important to take certain precautions to prevent corrosion and maximize their performance. This can be achieved by using materials that are resistant to saltwater corrosion, such as stainless steel or aluminum frames, and encapsulating the solar cells with durable and protective coatings. Regular maintenance and cleaning can also help ensure the longevity and efficiency of solar panels in such environments.
- I have an electric bicycle that I travel to work by, pulling a modified child carrying trailer that holds two 2 volt deep cycle batteries in series to power the 24 volt bike motor. I'm thinking about adding a 50 watt solar panel (or larger depending on the room I can make available) to charge while I'm at work and to provide some extra juice while on my more distant travels. Can I get a solar panel to charge them while they're connected the way they are: in series? Does charging work that way?I've read that in order to charge the 24 volt battery setup (if the answer to the Q above is yes), the output from my solar panel would need to be a little more than 24 volts. Is this true? If so, how many volts?Since the bike is supposed to be powered at 24 volts and I have an x-volt (x gt; 24v) solar panel connected to it, will this cause any damage to the controller or other components while running them? Will it help supply power even while the motor is being run? Thanks.
- The important part of the long answer is the charge controller - those batteries cost way too much to cook them out. And the controller maker will specify how much voltage your panels need to supply (more than 24 certainly) to provide a charge for several hours a day so you aren't wasting money on something that actually does very little. I also hope you have a very secure location to store this rig at work because while a bike with a tow trailer is easy to disguise and awkward to move, as soon as you put a solar panel on it, it becomes a very obvious theft target and maybe a vandalism target. And since you want to charge at work, it has to be outside. And since for effective use the panel has to mostly face the sun but you don't want to drag it broadside through the air while riding, you will have to either work out a pivoting mount or angle the whole trailer to the general position of the sun when parked and have the panel flat on top. I personally would probably redesign so that at work the trailer pulled up along side the bike and was chained/locked to it to make a really awkward mass that had the panel bolted through the lid with blind bolts.
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on swimming pool covers. This allows the pool cover to generate solar energy, which can be used to heat the pool water and reduce energy costs.
- Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high snowfall. However, it is important to take certain factors into consideration. Proper design and installation can ensure that snow does not accumulate on the panels and affect their performance. Additionally, regular maintenance and snow removal may be required to maximize the efficiency of solar panels in snowy conditions.
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a theater or entertainment venue. In fact, many theaters and entertainment venues have embraced solar energy as a sustainable and cost-effective solution for their energy needs. Solar panels can be installed on the roof or any available open space surrounding the building, generating clean and renewable electricity to power the venue's operations. This not only helps reduce their carbon footprint but also saves on energy costs in the long run.
