Q: Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of wildlife activity?
Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of wildlife activity. With proper planning and installation, solar panels can coexist with wildlife without causing harm. Techniques such as considering panel placement, using wildlife-friendly designs, and incorporating protective measures can help minimize any potential negative impacts on wildlife.
Q: How do solar panels perform in extreme temperatures?
Solar panels can still generate electricity in extreme temperatures, but their performance may be slightly affected. High temperatures can cause a decrease in efficiency, as the heat reduces the panel's ability to convert sunlight into electricity. However, modern solar panels are designed to withstand a wide range of temperatures, and their efficiency losses are generally minimal. In extremely cold temperatures, solar panels can actually perform slightly better due to the improved conductivity of the solar cells. Overall, while extreme temperatures can have a small impact on solar panel performance, they are still a reliable and efficient source of renewable energy in various weather conditions.
Q: So during the day, electricity is on, everything is on and working fine. But at night where there is no sunlight does all the electricity shut down for the night? So there is no light on for me during the night, or I can't watch tv at night? Is it also true that with solar panels, your bills are less expensive. Can someone please tell me these things

Q: Hello from SO TX.. I would like to know if anyone out there has SOLAR PANELS on their home?I have a 850 sq ft. house. I called Austin to a company that offers panels and installation. The cost $8,000.00, for 0 panels . The rep said we would save about 2 to 25% on our electric bill /mo. We use approximately 980 kw/mo. Our bill is around $40.00 / mo...I really don't think that's a good enough savings. We figure it would take 25 years to recoup our investment. And where we live in TX it does not offer any incentives. The gov. allows you a $2000.00 tx break.
Be glad you didn't buy. The current products are dinosaurs, 50 year old over priced tech. Don't lose hope though. The thin film tech is just now starting production. It's not yet available to the general public ( production for the next year is already sold out), but will be in the near future as production capacity increases. It should drop prices to about /4 of the current price, and your recoup time will be about 7 years. Go ahead and research thin film solar, and be thankful you didn't buy a product the government has to pay you to buy.
Q: What is the impact of roof orientation on solar panels' performance?
The impact of roof orientation on solar panels' performance is significant. The orientation of the roof determines the amount of sunlight the panels receive throughout the day, affecting their efficiency and energy output. Ideally, solar panels should be installed facing south to maximize exposure to sunlight. East and west-facing orientations can still generate energy but at reduced levels. North-facing roofs receive the least amount of sunlight and would result in the lowest solar panel performance.
Q: who has solar panels on their home and are they worth it
There are different kinds of solar panels. The biggest division is between photovoltaic panels that produce electricity and thermal solar panels that produce heat for hot water and space heating. Commercial photovoltaic panels are from 8 to 24% efficient while solar thermal panels are from 60 to 80% efficient. Solar thermal panels especially for hot water have a much higher ROI (return on investment) than photovoltaic panels. A solar hot water system may have a payback period (when savings equal the investment) as short as 3 to 5 years while photovoltaic panels will typically have a payback period between 7 and 5 years. Solar panels especially in times of low interest rates may be a very worthwhile investment with a better return than you can find almost anywhere else. But they are also highly dependent upon your situation. Owning a home with a good southern exposure is a prerequisite.
Q: im aware i dont fully understand. but with what i do. if P = iv, and current changes with voltage, whats the point of changing either. if in any cicumstance, you end up with the same wattage, how does changing either effect a solar setup. (2v panel vs 24v)thanks in advance. explain in laymans if you can.
The choice of solar panel voltage comes down more to what the panels will be connected to. You're right that power can remain the same at the different voltages. Higher input (panel) voltages are sometimes used in inverter systems to reduce the effect of voltage draw-down. 2v panels (about 20v open circuit) work well for charging 2v batteries, connected in parallel, through a charge controller. For use of a grid-tie inverter, higher input voltages are sometimes used to reduce the effects of draw-down. You want to select and wire (parallel vs. series) your panels based on the input voltage requirement of the load, whatever it may be.
Q: All I want to power is a small ice-maker (250 watts) for 25 minutes per day. That's all!!!Can I do that by using a 00 watt panel with 2-3 deep cycle batteries and getting 0 hours of quality light per day.(BTW) what size converter would you recommend? I want more than I need to grow the system
If okorder and they ship across the US and Canada.
Q: I hooked up a 2V solar panel to a small relay. The relay switches at 9V. When I have light shining on the panel it puts out aorund 3-4V, but when I hook it up directly to the relay it drops to V and doesn't switch the relay. Why? and How do I fix it?-2V Mono-Crystalline Solar Panel -JWD 7 4 reed relay
I suspect the voltage is OK but the amount of current the solar cell is capable of delivering is less than the relay coil needs to operate. The current the relay tries to draw overloads the PV. You need to add additional PVs in parallel to operated the relay coil. An alternative is to use a low current draw relay coil or use a transistor switch. Hope this helps, NewtonLaw
Q: Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of seismic activity?
Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of seismic activity. However, it is crucial to ensure that they are designed and installed to withstand earthquakes and other seismic events. Specialized mounting systems and structural reinforcements can be employed to enhance the resilience of solar panels in such areas, reducing the risk of damage or failure during seismic activity.
